lunch meats

At what point did you start eating lunch meat? I am 4 weeks out but my paperwork never listed lunch meat, hot dogs, etc as options. I was thinking of wrapping lunch meat around a piece of cheese or eating a turkey hot dog.

I wasn't allowed regular food for 8 weeks. After that, it was as tolerated. If your going to do it, try real meat (like the Carving Board stuff) as opposed to real fatty lunch meat. Deli meat is usually ok, but the bologna and salami are really fatty. Maybe look for reduced-fat hot dogs, too. Good luck to you!

I had deli turkey around 4-5 weeks out. It was allowed on my plan starting at 4 weeks.

I think it was about 8 weeks out for me as well. I eat lunch meat quite often as it's easy to transport and low cal/high Protein. Unfortunately it's also high in preservatives. It's actually been one of the contributing factors to me being diagnosed with migraines recently because of the high nitrogen content. I still eat it, but with caution. Just wanted to spread the info. Good Luck :)

Lean deli meats were listed as soft foods for me, so I started at 2 weeks out. I've only had turkey so far, but it makes a good lunch.

I started at 3 weeks out and good quality low sodium turkey is a staple in my house. It's so easy to measure out a two ounce snack. Love it!
