    Waking up from surgery

No feeding tube. Did have the drain on my right side which they removed the day after surgery before I was discharged. There was no pain for me when they removed it, I could just feel it moving under the skin as they were removing it. It tool like 2 seconds to remove it. No big deal at all.

    Bloated

Hi there- I had the same trouble, but it got a bit better each day. Keep walking, it really helps to move the gas out. I am now two weeks post op and no more discomfort. Everyone is different, but walking is the key Hang in there!

    Frustration

I was having the same problem with milk. Today, I switched to lactaid and it is much better on my tummy. As far as the taste issues, I can taste ok, I just seem to have this coating of "yuck" on my tongue, teeth and gums. Does anyone else have this?

    Silk Cashew Milk Unsweetened

I was not lactose intolerant pre surgery, but I am pretty sure I am now. Yesterday, I bought lactaid milk and used it in my baby oatmeal this morning and found no discomfort afterwards. I am only a couple weeks post op, so any advice on other milks for me try is much appreciated.

    It's the beginning

Hi there, I started this journey in July of 2014 with my first visit to the Bariatric surgeon. Having gained and lost weight most of my life, I still wasn't convinced during that visit that I was going to go through with it. While I am now only 9 days post op, here are a couple of things I have held onto throughout the journey so far. 1. Write a letter to food., Tell it how you feel and what you need to change. 2. Listen to your dietician and nutritional classes if you need to take them. 3. Adopt healthier habits pre surgery so it is easier to adjust post surgery. 4. When surgery day arrives, be prepared for some physical and emotional pain. But realize that each day gets better. 5. After surgery, follow the diet you are given and LISTEN to what they tell you. I hope this helps and good luck to you

Post Op Check up/Next Phase Begins

I am not sure what you mean about an all day session. I didn't have anything like that.

    Recovery must-haves

I agree with everything shared here. One additional thing that helped me, writing down all meds and the time they are to be taken. Between pain meds and the after effects of surgery, it can get confusing. I break up my normal pills into two pieces and take one piece at a time. I also write down my new Vitamins as well.
  9. Just got home from my first post op check up with the Doc. He says I am doing very well and to continue to listen to him and follow the plan. They took my stitches out and want to see me in 3 weeks. I started the full liquids phase today and so far doing well with that. I have had 2 ounces of baby oatmeal and 2 ounces of ff cream of chicken Soup today. I also had 3 ounces of Atkins Advantage shake today. No where near the 60 grams of Protein the plan calls for, but the doc didn't seem real concerned about the protein yet. Water is good, and my body looks forward to it. I sip all day, aside from before and after meals. I was down to my pre op weight today, after my hospital Fluid gain, so the weight lost from today on will be true post surgery weight loss. Thinking positive and looking forward to the future. All take care,

    Weight Lost!

I did the same thing. I weighed myself day 3 post op and was up 13 pounds from day of surgery weight! I was totally shocked. I am still very bloated and have some minor swelling in my feet so I know there is still a ton of Fluid in there from the surgery. I see the doc for my visit on Monday.

    Gas pain- NO JOKE!

Walk as much as you can, it is really helping me!

    Headaches

Hi there- I have them too. They are getting milder though as each day passes. The nurse told me it could be the pain meds. I am three days post op today.

    March 24, tomorrow!

@mswonderwoman.. Funny, took my cpap mask and they brought the machine into my room post op, but I didn't use it. I asked them if I had to use it since I wasn't sleeping much. I had too many gadgets on me anyway, one more would have driven me nuts I think. lol

    Post op day three

Day three post op as well. The gas is still giving discomfort. However, I can feel it moving around in there now., so I am hoping it will start to exit. I had a little poop accident earlier today when I though I needed to fart, so I know things are working. Each day gets a bit better. Just have this gas ball in the middle of my back that needs to be relieved. liquids going well, so far no nausea. I am walking a lot and that helps too.
  15. Greetings from the hospitAl. All went well with the surgery and I should be Coming home tonight!! Walking really helps my friends!
