Hi Sheila, I had my surgery 2 1/2 years ago and after the surgery I couldn't tolerate soy, whey or eggs. I ended up back in the hospital for 9 days with a pic line because I couldn't eat, I couldn't even tolerate water! I struggled for months trying to figure out what I could eat because I couldn't do the Protein drinks. I drink almond milk and I substitute eggs with flax seed and Water. I still struggle today with food because I'm very limited on what I can eat because of the intolerance I have to things. I find it so frustrating because soy is in everything and I can only eat chicken or turkey if it's minimally processed and doesn't have any chemicals or antibiotics in it. I know exactly how you feel and it's very frustrating. I've learned that I just have to experiment with different things and see how they affect me, I don't think I'm getting all the protein and calories I need either and I'm so tired all the time. Anyway, if you have any questions or want someone to talk to you can talk to me. It can be extremely hard but I'm glad I had the surgery and I'd do it again even with all the issues I've had. Take care, Robin
  2. My name is Robin and I had gastric bypass surgery in July of 2012 at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester Massachusetts. I've attached a copy of a paper that I wrote that explains my journey in detail. I hope it will be of benefit to someone and hopefully it will give you some insight into what I had to deal with and what lead me to have the surgery. Robin's Weight Loss Journey.doc
