  1. It is definitely not the easy way out. And why do you have to tell anybody? It's not anybody's business. My husband a three of my closest friends knew because I knew I needed a support group to make it successfully. Think about it ... all the surgery does is make your stomach smaller. If you put bad food in a smaller stomach, you're still going to get bad results. You still have to walk through the bakery at the grocery store to get to the fruits and veggies; you still have to drive by the restaurants; you still have to exercise; you still have to make the right choices! If you're not willing to do that, then all the weight loss surgery in the world is not going to do any good. It's a tool in a big toolbox. So, you see, it's not the easy way out at all!
  2. I have BCBS through my husband's employer and they were great. Call back! You're paying for the policy, so you have a right to know what it covers. I called and spoke to a guy and he gave me all the info I needed. I began the surgeon's program at the end of November and had my surgery February 2nd. Keep calling until somebody answers your questions!
  3. Kindle, et al, you just saved me from certain insanity, regret, and depression! I've been exercising like a fiend and the scale is barely moving. It's driving me nuts. BUT my clothes are fitting better, I walk with my head held high, and I have lost 5" off my waist, 2" off my chest (damn it!), and 1" off my hips. (Those pesky hips!). I'm just over two months out. I seriously need to get over the scale numbers!
  4. The vitamin shoppe has the packets, and Amazon has packets and in bulk. You can mix with low fat or skim milk or water. It mixes really well, no lumps. I have a shaker cup with the stainless steel ball.

  9. I'm six weeks out from surgery, and I have zero appetite. I'm having to force myself to,eat. Is this normal?
  10. Hello! I'm new to this site. I had my gastric bypass surgery Feb 2, 2015, and things are going very well. The first couple of weeks were tough ... some constipation, nausea, vomiting, fatigue ... but things turned around into the third week and it's wonderful! No regrets at all. There is definitely a learning curve trying to figure out what you can and can't eat, how much, when, etc., but it's well worth it. At six weeks out from surgery I have lost 40 pounds! Yay! I've been exercising like a crazy person, working very hard to replace bored or stress eating with MOVING! It works if you set your mind to it. I say why replace bad addictions with more bad addictions? I still have a ways to go obviously, but so far, so good!
