Where do the blasted fruit flies come from? When I choose my items at the store or farmers' market, I don't see any. Even if they're there (outdoors?), wouldn't they be shooed away when I'm handling the fruits and putting them into bags? How do they get into my kitchen? A day or two after I've placed the tomatoes, sweet peppers, bananas and whatall-else on the counter or table, one or two fruit flies materialize from nowhere. I really hope someone knows how this happens and how to stop it.

@ShelterDog64 - While I sometimes see one around the sink, it didn't occur to me that they live in the drain. I wondered why the sink. I also wonder why I never see more than one there or around the fruit. Maybe there's a law on their home planet.

@ShelterDog64 -- As long as they stay out of my brain gunk. What was the TV series last year? I didn't get the premise, but the gummint was somehow sneaking some sort of bug life into people's brains to turn them into mindless followers or replacements similar to "Invasion of the Body Snatcher?" At least, the series was something like that.

When I was a child, all of us little girls wanted to be just like Debbie Reynolds, Audrey Hepburn and Leslie Caron. The first two are gone along with the sweetness of the wishes.

I keep saying that the idiotic psych evaluation should be scrapped in favor of an IQ test. Do the idiot surgery practices ever learn? Nah. And who pays the price? Hint: Neither they nor their patients.

Had a mammogram today. Why does it seem that each is more painful than the last? I have a dim memory of ny first and it wasn't at all uncomfortable. On the good side, I saw my new PCP. He's excellent at what he does and his first name is one of my all-time favorite masculine names.

The ones who get bent out of shape when they ask after the fact about their bad, potentially dangerous actions and get hard facts in return are the same ones who get bent out of shape about coddling, tiptoeing responses, claiming that they're being spoken down to. Then there are the ones who get grumpy when they omit pertinent info and get responses based only on what they have included. They want to be coddled and have their minds read at the same time. Sorry, I can't read blank pages.

I voted early this morning and am ready to do it again.

I voted the day that my ballot came in the mail. What really upsets me is that I live in Oregon and every presidential election has been decided by the time that my vote would count due to the electoral college. I always feel as though my vote was worthless. I would like to see no political parties and popular vote.

It's my own craziness that I'll live with, not the craziness of strangers. I don't encourage them to bask in it. As a fan of perspective -- easy to see for someone else, we all know -- I accept that it often goes to waste. May they revel in their battiness. It won't be the worst thing if they keep losing weight.

@Sai and @Babbs - don't be jealous. He may very well make his way out your way while promoting the new book. Last night he and his co-authors, J. Richard Gott and Michael Strauss, were so much fun. NDT, always exuberant, did his thing -- cutting off his pals when he just had to say something. If he weren't so bright and all that, it would REALLY be annoying. The others seemed to take it in good spirits. It really was a fun evening and how nice that he's a 'neighbor.' If you do have an op some time to see him in person, it's well.
By the way, C-Span Book TV series will be showing last night's program. They had a sizeable crew on site to tape it.

Why does the tiny bit of eggshell wait to hop into my mouth with the last bite of omelet, thereby ruining the whole thing? If it must lurk in the egg mixture, why won't it have the courtesy to get it over with a the start?

Had .2 cc taken from my band today. So nice to be able to drink w/o discomfort while the band still signals me about solid food.

It's amazing what 0.1 to 0.2 cc does to the band.
To be honest, I miss my band. I'd go into details but there are differences that I loved about the band. I walked in with hopes to find another good surgeon who could adjust my band, and walked out with the sleeve lol. It's all good though. Just gotta work the tool to be successful.

I had body composition analysis done today for the first time. Yipes, I've got plenty more work to do. It was a surprise, though, to be told that I'd still lose if I were to eat 500 more calories than I do. No way will I up my maximum, but had no idea about the higher number.

@Sai, in my book I do not have 500 calories leeway, not that I want to use, anyway. My goal for my daily range is 950-1150. On a day when I may lose myself and overeat, it'll be good to know I haven't done damage, I suppose, but I don't want to slip into that. Staying within my range is also a way I know that I can follow through on my choices.
