  1. Not that I'm pushing beer but have you tried any of the nitro beers? I'm wondering if they would be okay in small amounts?

I have had a sip of Angry Orchard and I thought I'd just die. The pain was to much. I couldn't even burp. Just the other day I had a sip of my wife's coke and the same thing happened. I just don't need it. I like bourbon more now.

  2. I started my weight lose journey in January. Started my 90 days diet monitoring in February. Gastric Sleeve surgery at the end of June. I'm off all meds (high bp...), canceled my knee surgery. Life is great.

    Starting weight (Jan) - 372lbs

    WLS weight (June) - 331lbs

    Current weight as of 11/11 - 259lbs

    I'm pretty happy.

    before And after

  3. Most break the Post-Op diet into 4 Phases. Each doctor is different. If you know which doctor you'll have in Mexico, I'll bet someone here can chime in more.

Phase 1 - Clear Liquids (Just after surgery. Some are a week... mine was 3 days)

Phase 2 - Full liquids / pureed (2 weeks for me. Some are 1 month)

Phase 3 - Soft foods (Anything you can mush with a fork.) (Mine is 1 month)

Phase 4 - Maintenance Phase (Normal foods introduced slowly and you are off and running a normal life) (Forever)

  4. Hello Orlando peeps,

I didn't even know we had a locals part of this site until just now. My name is James. I had my sleeve done by Dr. Jawad on June 25th. It was a great experience. I was only in the hospital over night. My pain is minimal and I was back sitting at my desk in 3 working days (+ a weekend). I'll be getting my staples out Monday. Can't wait.

Perhaps I'll see some of you at the group meeting in a week.

  5. I use MyFitnessPal. Well... Just started again. I'm BigDaddyJG.

I had my sleeve on June 25th. I think I'm doing pretty good. I get my Water in and Protein has seemed to be pretty easy. So far my day looks like this.

    Breakfast:

    - 8oz (takes about 30+ mins to drink) in a to go cup, of powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chocolate w/ FairLife Milk and a scoop of PB2 Peanut Butter powder. That one drink gets my 55 grams of Protein. And it takes great.

    - I wait 30 mins and start drinking a 12oz glass of Water or Crystal Light drink over the next hour or so.

    - Then I'll eat a Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt. That is 15grams of protein.

    - Then more drink (I'm always sipping)

    - Then an 11oz Premier Protein shake (Choc) 30 grams of protein

    - Then drink

    - Then a 6oz Soup (pureed) for dinner (protein varies)

    - Then drink..... I'll snack on a suger free popsicle during the evening.

I'm still in Phase 2 but I'll get it over 80 grams a protein and all my liquid and I have no issues so far.

    Best of luck.

  6. Well... My surgery date is June 25th. It'll be interesting to post my attempts (or lack there of) post WLS. I plan on being a "by the book" player for awhile. I can live without beer....and pizza (if I need to). I have many years of training to overcome.

One of the reasons I even considered Sleeve WLS was because I have a friend that was able to live a normal life and eat almost anything he wanted (just smaller portions) with great success. I'm praying for that in the long run.

  7. I trolled this forum for a long while before posting anything. As someone said earlier, a lot of the forums are female dominated. I choose to start my posting in the Guy's Room because I honestly don't/didn't think I could relate with the female perspective or better yet, that females couldn't relate to my perspective. There is a ton of amazing ladies on this site with a ton of good advice. I was just looking for some guy talk.

To be honest, I was take back when women started posted on my threads. I thought that they were out of place. I then downloaded the app and realized that on the Unread Posts or newest content, it was hard, if not impossible to tell that what forum room you are in.

I understand how this happens now and I understand. This guy would like to say, I forgive you and accept your apology. I'm sorry that someone was so rude to you. Thank you for being sensitive to the Guy's Room.

  8. I'm fifteen months out now and smoke everyday. No ill affects. I eat and drink whatever I want. Obviously, in much smaller quantities. I lost 100+lbs in the first 6-7 months, reached my goal and have held it with little effort. I work 12 hour shifts in a very sedentary job so I have to be careful not to "graze" but other than that, I couldn't have asked for more. I say, smoke and be happy. The Dr. Will always tell you not to and even suggest the potential for complications.

Well I hope I have the same luck as you. I remain hopeful.

  9. I have to say, I truly enjoy my cigars. I enjoy the time I spend while leaning back relaxing just chatting with family and friends or watching Netflix on the back porch or just playing online poker.

After my WLS I'll have to just wait and see what my surgeon says. I'm kind of a cigar snob. I like what I like.

  10. I am 6 months out...almost 170 lbs down. I have had pizza and beer twice since the surgery. Was not a big deal. Nutritionally there is not much there so I would prefer my high Protein foods. It is nice to have a cold brew once in a while. I have avoided soft drinks and will continue to do so.

I gave up sodas a couple years ago. I mean, I have one occasionally but I choose tea or Water over soda.

It think it'll be interesting to see what it takes to get me buzzed post op. Scotch and Bourbon would normally think 2 - 3 finger drinks. I'll save a small fortune in booze.

  11. Good stuff. I'll try the pizza recipe and the unbreaded Gen Tso chicken for sure. I'm sure that "NEVER" is an overstatement and I'll be able to eat things. Since everyone says that your tastes change, I may not even like certain things anymore. I can live without beer (Scotch and Bourbon on the other hand.... not so sure about).

As a family with have a few staples that we eat when we just don't want to cook. pizza, Tijuana Flats (Mexican) with lots of chips and queso, Five Guys, Mellow Mushroom... I'll need to find things at these places that I can eat.

I'm ready to give things up. The long list is very true. "Tie my shoes without losing my breath or overeat?"
