  1. Well... I'm trying not to have food funerals but it's hard. I think I may need to say goodbye to my friends, craft beer and pizza. I hope it's not forever but I'm preparing myself if it is. Is there beer and pizza on the flip side of wls?

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Not that I'm pushing beer but have you tried any of the nitro beers? I'm wondering if they would be okay in small amounts? I have had a sip of Angry Orchard and I thought I'd just die. The pain was to much. I couldn't even burp. Just the other day I had a sip of my wife's coke and the same thing happened. I just don't need it. I like bourbon more now.

    Cigars

Just finished a Cain Daytona. Nothing beats a good cigar. No issue so far with cigars for me.

Is It True What They Say???

Just a note to say that after 120lbs lost things are very different. I'm like a new man. I'd say 3" difference.

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Well.. I'm 8 months or so out and pizza is no problem at all. I just eat 1 piece at most. Beer out and I don't miss it at all. Carbonated drinks are just to painful. Don't need them at all. I do drink whisky though. It fills the void very well.

Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?

I was wearing 46/48 and now I'm in 38s. So good. I'd be happy at 36/38.

  9. I'm a belly sleeper. I start on my back then roll over to lay on my stomach for the night. I'm wondering if this will change once I have WLS and for how long? Thoughts?

    Belly sleepers

I didn't have much issue with this. I was on my back a couple days then my side a couple days then I was on my belly like normal. I was aware of my stitches and I made careful moves in the night but all in all, it was nothing for me to worry about.

    BigDaddy look to be NotSoBigDaddy

Almost 2 months since my sleeve. I've never felt better. 40lbs lost (80lbs since my journey started). My knees feel good. About to start training for my first 5k. Best of luck.
  12. I'm a bit of a troller on this site. I don't feel like I relate to all the woman on here. I search for dudes that are similar to me but then I finally found "The Guy's Room". I'm choosing this room to post my first post because... just because. My name is James and I'm 42. I was introduced to the sleeve by a friend who had it done with great success. I've been at my heaviest, 372lbs, and I'm over it. I'm ready to be done with the high blood pressure pills and I'm tired on getting winded when I walk up the stairs or tie my shoes. I want to live a long life for my family. My knees have been hurting and I'm just done. I started my research and found out that my insurance covers the sleeve. My out of pocket is almost covered due to a knee surgery earlier in the year. I found a doctor, did all my tests and finished my 3 month diet documentation. I'm down 22lbs. I got the call today, that only after 6 days, I was approved. I'll be going in for my sleeve in June. I'm excited and mournful all at the same time. You see I'm a big guy, not overly fat (obese for sure) but I carry it well. People could NEVER guess my weight. At 6'4" I was the chicken wing, beer drinking guy that lived to eat. Now I find myself saying good bye to some favorite foods. I think my biggest issue will be having my identity NOT be based on food. So much of my life has revolved around food for so long. I'm really looking forward to not living to eat. My wife is super supported and as is my work. I'm hoping to only be out 1 week (I sit down most of the day). (Fingers crossed) I'm sure I'll have questions to post but as for now, I just wanted to say hi. Thanks.... James (BigDaddyJG)

I think that there is a nutrition class every Thursday at 1pm and a support class every Thursday just after at 2pm. I went last Thursday to the nutrition class but Gal was on vacation. I'll try and go this week if I can.

What quantity did you start with? 1 or 2 eggs? Not sure what will fit but curious what others eat.

    Post-Op Diet

Most break the Post-Op diet into 4 Phases. Each doctor is different. If you know which doctor you'll have in Mexico, I'll bet someone here can chime in more. Phase 1 - Clear Liquids (Just after surgery. Some are a week... mine was 3 days) Phase 2 - Full Liquids / pureed (2 weeks for me. Some are 1 month) Phase 3 - Soft foods (Anything you can mush with a fork.) (Mine is 1 month) Phase 4 - Maintenance Phase (Normal foods introduced slowly and you are off and running a normal life) (Forever)

    FL - Orlando

Hello Orlando peeps, I didn't even know we had a locals part of this site until just now. My name is James. I had my sleeve done by Dr. Jawad on June 25th. It was a great experience. I was only in the hospital over night. My pain is minimal and I was back sitting at my desk in 3 working days (+ a weekend). I'll be getting my staples out Monday. Can't wait. Perhaps I'll see some of you at the group meeting in a week.

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Surgery complete. 1 week into Phase 2. Pizza is the first thing I craved. It's those stupid Pizza Hut hotdog crust commercials, lol. I'll be fine. Just thought it was funny.

    MyFitnessPal

I use MyFitnessPal. Well... Just started again. I'm BigDaddyJG. I had my sleeve on June 25th. I think I'm doing pretty good. I get my Water in and Protein has seemed to be pretty easy. So far my day looks like this. Breakfast: - 8oz (takes about 30+ mins to drink) in a to go cup, of unjury chocolate w/ FairLife Milk and a scoop of PB2 Peanut Butter powder. That one drink gets my 55 grams of protein. And it takes great. - I wait 30 mins and start drinking a 12oz glass of water or Crystal Light drink over the next hour or so. - Then I'll eat a Oikos Triple Zero Yogurt. That is 15grams of protein. - Then more drink (I'm always sipping) - Then an 11oz Premier Protein shake (Choc) 30 grams of protein - Then drink - Then a 6oz Soup (pureed) for dinner (protein varies) - Then drink..... I'll snack on a suger free popsicle during the evening. I'm still in Phase 2 but I'll get it over 80 grams a protein and all my liquid and I have no issues so far. Best of luck.
  19. I am on my Pre-op diet. We love our Vitamix but it seems to froth up my Isopure to almost triple the amount. I can see that there is so much air in shake. I think this may be an issue post-op. Anyone has this issue? What did you do to remedy it, if anything at all? WLS on June 25th. Thanks. BigDaddyJG
  20. BigDaddyJG

    Vitamix to foamy?

So today we mixed everything except the Protein powder first then added it at the end. So much better. Like night and day. Thanks for the tip.

    Belly sleepers

I have a wedge pillow to prop me up if needed. Once my belly gets smaller.... sleeping habits may change also. Thanks for the input.

    Goodbye to beer and pizza?

Well... My surgery date is June 25th. It'll be interesting to post my attempts (or lack there of) post WLS. I plan on being a "by the book" player for awhile. I can live without beer....and pizza (if I need to). I have many years of training to overcome. One of the reasons I even considered Sleeve WLS was because I have a friend that was able to live a normal life and eat almost anything he wanted (just smaller portions) with great success. I'm praying for that in the long run.
  23. I trolled this forum for a long while before posting anything. As someone said earlier, a lot of the forums are female dominated. I choose to start my posting in the Guy's Room because I honestly don't/didn't think I could relate with the female perspective or better yet, that females couldn't relate to my perspective. There is a ton of amazing ladies on this site with a ton of good advice. I was just looking for some guy talk. To be honest, I was take back when women started posted on my threads. I thought that they were out of place. I then downloaded the app and realized that on the Unread Posts or newest content, it was hard, if not impossible to tell that what forum room you are in. I understand how this happens now and I understand. This guy would like to say, I forgive you and accept your apology. I'm sorry that someone was so rude to you. Thank you for being sensitive to the Guy's Room.
