  1. When you are having surgery they give you A LOT of saline. You were probably on it while you were in recovery also. Inactivity will also cause you to retain Water. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless there is swelling in your lower extremities.
  2. Your biggest issue will be fatigue. Second, will be getting in your Protein and Water. Please be sure to take a large cooler with pre-made Protein shakes and water. Also, you will have to be sure to have your medications and Vitamins with you. I would just check with the surgeons office again and let them know that you plan to make the trip and will take every precaution to be safe and take good care of yourself and get whatever recommendations they may have for you. There may be some other issues after your surgery that you may have to consider for your trip. Good luck to you and congratulations on your surgery and congratulations to your son!
  3. If I am going to do an intense aerobic workout I drink a Protein shake before and I eat protein after. If not so intense, I drink 1/2 of the shake before and drink the other 1/2 after. I do not add any extra carbohydrates.
  4. Your weight loss is very noticeable. Keep up the good work!
  5. Your PCP is your "mainline" doctor. He/she should be aware of ALL of your health issues.
  6. I look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Everyone gathers at my house. I love to cook and I have learned how to tweek some of my best loved recipes to make them healthier. I am hoping to teach a few family members some things about making smarter choices and portion control.
  7. @@dhrguru Girl, what a mess this has turned out to be! Whoa! Anyway, in my opinion, maybe your husband is just in a "wait and see" mode. Maybe he has heard of others being unsuccessful at losing or keeping the weight off and he is just "observing" your status right now. You have lost quite a bit of weight and still have a ways to go. He'll come around. You'll catch him looking at you when he doesn't think you are noticing. He'll even start to compliment you. You'll see. You're doing good girl. Time to leave this forum. . . I think it's done.
  8. I'm in! 217.8 today. Goal weight is 202. Thanks!
  9. It sounds like you are going down a very destructive path. You might want to seek counseling. If you continue as you are, one day you may find yourself still looking good, but very lonely.
  10. You said, "I'm stuck up and shallow which is bad since I been at the other end.. I play with guys emotions and I love the attention I get" It sounds like maybe men didn't give you the attention you wanted when you were heavy so now you are "paying them back" now that you are feeling yourself.
  11. If you are on full liquids everything is liquid so you shouldn't be too full after a Protein shake or cream Soup to have Water 40 minutes later. Just keep sipping. Walking and activity will help you not to feel too full. You must remember to move.
  12. My surgery was in February 2015 and I have not been nauseous, nor have I thrown up.
  13. I think that a good surgeon should be able to help you with that decision. Just be sure that the surgeon knows the details of your eating habits and temptations with sugary foods. The sleeve does not necessarily give you "dumping syndrome." I don't have it.
  14. I'm a little over 6 months out and for the past 2 weeks I have been bouncing back and forth by 2 pounds. I know my body is just "adjusting" right now and so I am letting it. I have slowed my exercise a bit this week also because of a slight lupus flare-up but I will be right back on the ball as soon as my body will let me. I have learned to "listen" to my body and cooperate with it. You'll start losing again. It's not over yet.
  15. @@Para-thighs Lost Ha ha! Do you do that often? Talk to yourself! Just kidding! I know what you mean. Those old habits creep into your mind at times and you think "what if?" But I'm telling you, it's not worth it. Don't fall back into destructive patterns. Keep talking to yourself! Tell yourself to "stay strong and keep fighting the good fight!"
  16. @@dsheive You said, "Need to excite my meals. I hate eating such a waste of time for 3 bites. My fear I guess is eating and liking food to much again." So it sounds like you want to change things up, but on the other hand, you are afraid that if you do, you might eat too much. I would suggest trying different Proteins at lunch and supper time. Grill, bake, broil, or saute your meats using different spice blends and fresh herbs. Perhaps some homemade bean Soup (can add ground turkey or lean ground beef) would be a good substitute at lunch. Instead of the 1/2 banana, eat some fresh berries or a small apple some days just to switch things up a bit. I think you are just getting tired of the routine of eating. Mixing things up might make a difference.
  17. What's your status? Surgery Date: What Surgery: Starting Weight: Goat Weight: Male/Female: What's your attitude?
  18. @@VanessaVSGforme I am down 98 pounds and my sciatica is still a slight problem at times. My pain and numbness is in my right leg, thigh, and foot. I exercise every day and my pain level depends on the activity. Overall, I am feeling a lot better since the surgery. I think that weight loss has improved the situation by at least 75%. I know you said that your leg hurts, but be sure to get your walking in anyway. It will definitely help to keep you loose. I hope you will start feeling better soon.
  19. @@downsizingdiva and AMEN!!!
  20. @@stephh --218 Thanks!
  21. You look like a totally different person! I'll bet you feel like one too! Congratulations on your weight loss! Don't ever turn back!
  22. I am fortunate that mine is a Center of Excellence. I knew beforehand that it was a "team" of professionals. I paid a one-time program fee before surgery and I will never have a co-pay or out-of-pocket fee for follow-up visits. I saw my surgeon twice before surgery and twice after surgery. Subsequent visits were with her PA. I also see the nutritionist at each visit. So, it goes, nurse, PA, nutritionist (and once with the exercise specialist for assessment). I am happy with my surgical team. They are very professional and knowledgeable and they are keeping me on track.
