Hmm.... Week 1 weight loss, or not.
Well let me tell you, they had me up 17 pounds after surgery! It took me a week and a day to get back to surgery weight. It was pretty easy with only taking in fluids and walking every two hours while I was awake. I was at 3 weeks post yesterday and I am down 17 pounds from morning of surgery. So, 34 pounds lost since surgery. The weight comes off! Now in the dreaded (I didn't believe it) 3 week stall!

Weight loss question - Is this typical weight loss for VSG?
Considering you are only 18 pounds away from your goal I would say you are doing GREAT! You want your final pounds to come of a little slower so you can have time to firm and tone. I bet you are feeling really good! Congratulations girl!

3 days post op
Soup, ICE CREAM, and yogurt? Wow, in the hospital? My doctor allowed Water, ice chips, broth, sugar free Jello and sugar free fruit juice. Ice cream, I would think, is a big "no no." Do you have any food restrictions? I was on full liquids for two weeks, followed by pureed foods for two weeks and then I can move on to soft foods (meaning anything that my fork can pass through) after two more weeks. She takes her patients very slow. I'm glad you are doing well!

Gastric Sleeve and chronic fatigue syndrome and/or chronic migraines
Chronic migraines here. I was told that the weight loss may help lessen the frequency. Hope so! Will eliminate the need for some of the medications. I am so tired of all of the medications I have to take for this and that! How are you dealing with it?

Anyone with Lupus Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery?

Anyone with Lupus Had Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I have had lupus for over 30 years. I am over 50 years old and I am considered high risk. My surgery went well and I am losing weight. I was wondering if anyone here has lupus or any other autoimmune disease to deal with while going through this sleeve process. How are you doing with taking your medications and dealing with the fatigue and pain that comes along with the disease? I have never had trouble with my meds until after the surgery (Feb 25, 2015). I always took my bedtime meds on an empty stomach, but find that now, I must have a few bites of food or some thick Protein drink on my stomach before I take them or my stomach hurts and spasms all night. I am wondering how someone who is maybe a year or so out from surgery is feeling now and have your lupus symptoms lessened.

Thick saliva and sweet taste in mouth
Since surgery and even before, while on the 1200 calorie and 2-day liquid pre-op diet, I have had extremely thick and frothy saliva and a sickly sweet taste in my mouth. I had surgery on February 25, 2015. No complications. Was on full liquids for two weeks and just moved on to pureed foods as of March 11. For Protein I use Muscle Milk chocolate, J-Robb vanilla, and Isopure clear Grape. Other protein comes from yogurt and cottage cheese. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, has a doctor told you what it might be?

Straws, why now straws after surgery?
I was told the same thing, but low and behold, when I woke up I had a cup of ice chips and a cup of Water with a straw in it! And I thought I couldn't have anything to drink after surgery.

Gained weigh during surgery
I was sleeved on Feb 25. Went in weighing 282 and left 299! A whopping 17 lbs of Fluid pumped into me for 2 days! I was told "the doctor must of thought I needed it." Okay, well whatever. I am now down to 276. I am glad to be losing weight. I am following orders and I will continue to be motivated and inspired.
