  1. It's been over six weeks since my surgery. I lost 38 lbs. Original weight was 227 lbs and I'm now down to 189 lbs. This weight loss compasses preop and postop. Never felt better. Weight loss is slow but I'm not in a hurry. I do 35 minutes of fast walking every day and I'm much more active than I was before this journey started. Best thing I've ever done for myself. Good luck to all.

    Best decision of my life!

I feel the same. I had my sleeve surgery on March 10th. Lost 34 lbs and feel absolutely great. My family dr told me that the sleeve surgery will be the best thing I would do for myself. It's true!!
  3. Hello Lady1putt... I still have my hair but I hear the hair loss happens around the third month. I'm still having a hard time with my protein drinks but I' m getting them down...need to shop for different flavors. I'm on soft foods now and that helps. Still doing great and I even went shopping for clothes. My pants are getting too big. How nice is that? Good luck on your surgery...just follow doctor's orders. I believe it was Babilou who advised me to sip sip sip and walk walk walk while in the hospital which I did and it really helped. Good luck again and keep us posted.
  4. I'm 69 and had my sleeve on March 10th and like you I feel great. The protein shakes are getting a little old but I'm still getting 80 grams per day from them. The loss of hair scares me. I've lost 30 lbs as well. 17 pre op. Continued success to you.
  5. I saw my nutritionist yesterday and we (four sleeve patients who had surgery around the 9th and 10th) have now graduated to a soft diet, I.e. cottage cheese, Apple sauce, mushed up cooked veggies. No beef pork or lamb. The portions are extremely small but that's all my sleeve stomach can take .Of course, you have to listen to your own body which will tell you whether you're ready for the soft diet or not. I can even have shaved chicken breast from the deli!
  6. Interesting comments about the baby food. I'm seeing my surgeon and nutritionist on the 18th and will bring it up. Meanwhile I'll go easy on the baby food even though I'm tolerating it well.
  7. I'm back home from surgery. I came home March 13th and I'm feeling absolutely great! I did not enjoy my three day hospital stay. The IV and pressure stockings drove me crazy.. so I'm glad to be home. The worst pain was the gas pain. Never experienced anything like it but luckily it passed after two days. I'm drinking water and my shakes with no problem. I'm full of energy....There was a moment after I got out of surgery that I had doubts about what I did but not anymore. I 'm feeling really well so I hope it continues. Seeing my surgeon and nutritionist on the 18th. Good luck to all.
  8. It's now my 4th day after surgery and my surgeon said I could have 3 tablespoons of baby food three times per day along with the protein shakes. Is this too early to introduce baby food in your diet? I had an upper GI done in the hospital to see whether I had any leakage and I passed. No leaks. Maybe that's why he let me have the baby food. The three tablespoons really hit the spot.
  9. Thank you so much for the reply and advice. I will definitely follow it. Your weight loss is as amazing. Continue success and good luck to you.
  10. Having surgery March 10th - 2 more days. I'm 69 a nd getting nervous. I started this journey weighing 227 and I'm 5' 1". I'm now down to 210 following the heavy protein diet. Looking forward to being more active! Never had surgery before. General anesthesia scares me as does breathing tube. Has anyone experienced difficulties with breathing tube after surgery. Is the tube removed before you are out of anesthesia?
  11. I just turned 70 and scheduledto be sleeved March 10th. Never had major surgery before and very worried about general anesthesia and breathing tube. Can someone fill me in on how they felt when they came out of anesthesia. Was the breathing tube still in?
