  1. I am Normal!!! Ok, no smart a#% comments! LOL. Today, this morning I plugged my new weight in and I moved from overweight to a normal BMI! I am seriously so excited. First time since I was 19 years old!

What kind do you have? I'm assuming they are chewable but that they make you nauseated, which seems to happen to a lot of folks early on.

You just had surgery a few days ago, right? It gets easier as the swelling from surgery goes down. Experiment with different temperatures of water--some can't handle really cold water after surgery and prefer room temp, other (like me) do better with it ice-cold. I use Mio flavor stuff in my water a lot, helps me to get more in.

As for pills--what kind are you trying to take? If they are tablets (rather than capsules) you may be able to crush them and mix them in a protein shake or something. Personally, I had to start cutting my antidepressant in half and take half in the AM and half in the PM after surgery because it made me really nauseated if I took the whole thing at once. That's the kind of thing that you just have to figure out as you go, unfortunately! Good luck, and just keep sipping!

  4. Why wait to lose the weight? Chopped off my long brown hair and went short and red, red, red! Think Sharon Osborne. Love it!

  5. Soooooo... I hit goal today...? Actually, .4 lb below...? I don't feel "done," really, so I'm ambivalent, I guess... thinking of shooting for another 10 lbs...

@gowalking -- I'm in therapy already; I started pre-op. I'm definitely going to be bringing this issue up at my next session. I guess there is a part of my brain that keeps saying, "Oh, come on... those size sixes must just be a fluke. Maybe they were marked wrong... yes, even though you wear a six in different brands from different stores. There's no way you could be smaller than a 12, I mean seriously," @VDLT -- I'm really not close enough to any of the women I know to ask their sizes. But I am certain that I am truly bigger than they are--most of them are marathon runners.

I guess I just still feel pretty fat, especially when I see my flabby, saggy, belly in the mirror. It's still a fat person's belly, but I don't have enough of an apron that I'd be able to justify surgery to my insurance, and I won't be able to afford plastics. And I'm still ~a lot~ bigger than most of the women I know. I am in a size 6 at this point, so I have to assume that most of them are size 00's to maybe 2's. It's just kinda disheartening to lose 100 pounds and still be the "big girl," even though I'm shorter than everyone else.

  8. Accidentally bought the Syntrax Naturals Vanilla protein instead of their Vanilla Bean Torte flavor. Ick. Do not like.

      lauraellen80

@Stevehud, that's funny, because to me it tasted much more intense and harsh than their other vanilla flavor. It actually made me a little nauseated, and I couldn't finish the oatmeal I had it in! I bought it on Amazon, and my husband doesn't mind it, so it won't go to waste.

  9. Just got catcalled in the most polite way possible. Guy rolled down his window while I was standing outside Wawa and said, "I hope the rest of your day is as lovely as you are!" Thank you, random dude.

  10. A good friend just told me I need to throw out my old sweats. She said they aren't baggy, they are just plain old too big.

  12. I couldn't buy the cute sweater dress that I wanted today, because they didn't have the size I needed... SMALL! A great NSV, for sure, but I still want the dress. Guess I'm ordering online.

  13. Really struggling with self-image and looking at my body objectively today. You'd think that trying on the last of my "skinny" clothes that I'd packed away, only to find that a lot of them are too big, would make me feel good. It did not. I still feel fat, my waist is still thick, I'm still not pretty, and now all the clothes I liked but couldn't fit into are still unwearable.

I am seeing a therapist, @gowalking. I started before my surgery, and I just recently switched to a new one because my therapist left the practice. It's definitely something I'm going to continue to work on.

  15. Feeling stressed lately. I know the reasons why (many). The difference is I am not giving in to comfort foods. I have made plans to better cope instead. So right now I am planning to stop in to a few support groups and change my workout routine. The next person who even *thinks* this is the easy way out will get punched soundly in the face. I am working my butt off for this.

  16. I'd made a conscious decision to have a piece a cake at a work party...but they carried on so damn long with their speeches I had to leave before the cutting of the cake. I was 1/2 tempted to smash the cake as I was walking out.

  17. Single Digits to go!! 9 pounds to goal now! WOO HOO.

  18. Today is my 1 year post op! I've lost a teenager off my body. That's all!

  19. I didn't know how many stretch marks my stomach had, now that it is shrinking they are all out on display!

I've got some Bio-Oil, but I've been really lazy about keeping up a regime of using it.

Sometimes I put steel-cut oats in a little crock-pot overnight on low. They are perfectly cooked in the morning!

  23. Home with the flu. ...First time I have experienced vomiting with my sleeve.

  24. Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and was chagrined to find that I was still 1 pound away from a big milestone, as I had been for the past almost 2 weeks. Today I woke up and I lost two pounds overnight, which officially puts me 101 pounds less than my heaviest weight ever. It's a surreal feeling, mainly because I still have such a looong way to go, and I can hardly remember what it felt like to be a hundred pounds heavier than this. This time last year, I felt hopeless, worthless, and like I would never feel good about myself again. I was prepared, at age 22, to die young and humiliated because I felt like I had no control over my body whatsoever. I was seeing a nutritionist and a PCOS specialist and they were at a loss for how to help me. Now, 1 year later, 101 pounds are simply... gone. What an amazing life this is!
