sandyb68 reacted to bellabloom in When did you guys start drinking regular coffee again?
I stopped for a long time. coffee drinks were one of the main ways I ate my calories and sugar pre surgery. Huge white chocolate mochas daily. It was great to kick that habit.
I now drink about 1/2 cup of coffee with cream and Splenda in the morning and the occasional iced Americano with Splenda.
I'll never go back to my old ways. I'm over 1 year out.
Looks like I have to stop now if I have gerd.

You get an ultra sound of your abdominal area and they can see the stones. Not to bad unless they push really hard and then it's a little tender. Hang in there!!! It is a breeze compared to the sleeve surgery:)

I'm recovering from gall bladder surgery. My doc didn't remove it as I never had issues before surgery. I had an attack that had me in hospital for 3 days. Never again!! I just had it removed Thursday. Recovering nicely, surgery is no where as painful for me as the sleeve was. Good riddance I say!

You know I keepAsking people what it's like but I honestly never thought to look the symptoms up for myself. As much research as I've done on this sleeve and my brain just didn't even think of that for some reason. I think I'm delirious with excitement for the surgery!!! ????????????

I wish mine would've been removed when I had my sleeve surgery, but there were no stones in it then. I did this after losing the weight. And I'm not even done losing yet. I'm glad it's gone, and that I never have to worry about another attack. But I'm having a rough time. That, and not winning the powerball. Kinda ruined my week.

I had my gall bladder removed at 23 months postop. Suffered through 4 excruciating attacks over the previous year before doing it (yea, dumb idea). But recovery was a piece of cake. Surgery at 8am Wednesday. Discharged at 12:30. Stopped at the grocery store and then went home and puttered around the house for 3 hours before making myself lay down. The next day was Thanksgiving, went to grandmas and ate a little bit of everything. I was tired that day but that's it. Made myself couch surf the next three days and back to work on Monday.
But my VSG was a pretty easy recovery too. Shopping days 1 and 2 postop. Traveling days 3 and 4. Back to work in 7 days. I'd say the gallbladder surgery was about 25% discomfort of the VSG surgery, if that.
No change in appetite postop. Can't tell you about weight loss cause I was already in maintenance. The biggest difference for me was coffee. I had to give it up because it gave me heartburn. But after having my gallbladder out I can drink it no problem. Yeehaw!
Good luck! Be glad you don't have to go through another attack. Nothing is as bad as that. (And I say that after having broke my back and having two vertebrae in my a neck fused)

I had mine out at 6 months out(12/29/15), I was down 80 pounds and had a stone the size of a manderian orange. I had a little pain with laying down and getting up from laying or sitting but only took day of surgery and a long lunch the next day off of work. By the third day it was really just the itching and the allergic reaction(to the strips)that was bothering me.

I had my gallbladder removed 8 months post surgery. I was down 100 lbs at the time. It was super easy. Surgery was at 8:00 am. I was leaving the hospital by 12:30 and home by 1:30. Surgery was on a Friday and I was back to work on Wednesday (actually I was on a flight for a business trip on Wednesday). I was on liquids the day of surgery and back to regular foods in 2 days. It didn't impact my surgery at all and I'm down 130 lbs

@@Pinkgirl1234, I thought that too. But I can tell you from reading this site for over a year, many people , including myself, have hunger pain that comes back-full force. It helps we have the restriction but it's so easy to snack every few hours. The key is to pick something healthy.....and that can be a battle.

Ok, so I weigh every morning. I have a routine. I shower, do my make up and blow dry my hair. Then I immediately get on the scale. Well this morning was like every other. I get on the scale and look down. The loudest scream I have ever screamed in my life flew out of my mouth. I am weighing 239 lbs. everyone came running my son with a broom because he thought the way I screamed there was a rodent in the house! I am officially down 85 lbs. oh wow!! I so psyched up. It's been 14 years since I weighed so little!!

So apparently my husband is more excited than me about my 80lb weight loss. ... everytime I turn around he's picking me up and throwing me over his shoulders! !! Once upon a time I could use my weight when playing around with him. ... not anymore. ..I'm going to have to really do some major strength training!

I am finally below 200 !!! Can't remember the last time I have been at this weight!! Started at 270, had RNY on March 16th and have lost 72 pounds so far!! Unfortunately, during my process I broke my foot and required surgery so have not been able to hit the gym like I had hoped. But I am finally cleared and looking forward to working out !!!! How is everyone else doing?

@@lachellove @@MoniqueMcCoy - anything is possible but why worry about what you cannot really control at this point? I felt the same way and the other concern was the hair loss. I am a little over three months post and I am down 70lbs from my HW about 6 months ago. Follow your doctors & NUTs instructions and breathe and try to relax.
I can also tell you that you may feel buyers remorse for a couple of days post-op.
Like WTH did I just do to myself???? I had it on day two, first full day home. I realized there was no going back (stomach was in a bio-hazard container somewhere headed to God knows where...). I really didn't have any post-op issues either - no nausea, gas pains, etc. I just grasped the whole idea that it was DONE. Funny thing is I realized within about a day that I NEEDED this surgery to LIVE the rest of my life without huffing & puffing, sweating & squeezing, getting bigger & bigger...
    NO REGRETS!!!

My co pay for the surgery will only be $250, and I don't have a deductible. I know that I'm very lucky. I will be interested though to get the actual break down of costs after the fact. I had to go to the emergency room not too long ago to have an abscess drained. It took like 15 minutes and my co pay for that was only $100. When I got the breakdown later of "actual" costs it was over $2000! It's ridiculous and a crying shame that a lot of people who can't afford insurance go broke just trying to get healthy!

Just wanted to jump in and toot my horn i am so happy i did this. i am three and a half months with my new teeny tummy and although the first month was a little unpredictable and yes, very hard, i am so happy to report I am already half way to my goal weight. As of today i am down 73 lbs and things are going really well. It really hit me yesterday when i bought a new summer dress and i just grabbed the XL off the rack and put it up against me thinking this should fit, or if it doesn't it will soon enough, to get it home, try it on and it fits like a glove. Best news, it was not an XL it was a M. it was just on the wrong hanger. OMG i cannot even remember ever buying an Medium. Yay for me!! That is all
