My NUT said that this really only applies to Gastric Bypass. Sleevers still have a pyloric valve which regulates the emptying of the stomach -- we don't wash stomach contents through the "funnel" as those without a pyloric valve will.

I am your height and I was about 10 pounds heavier when I started than you are now according to your sidebar stats.
I would MUCH rather have saggy skin than die early of complications from my obesity. I might not look like a bikini model naked, but I sure do look a helluva lot better in my clothes. Plus I have the ability to do anything I want.

Grab a hold of your life while you are young!!
In these pictures I am about 6-7 pounds heavier than I am now. Where would you rather be in a year or two?

    Taylorla,
Like Countrygirl said, take Tylenol or use the prescription painkiller they gave u for your surgery. Drink the hot tea u can... This worked for me. I know it's scary not to have the "go to" ibuprophen, but u will get through this bump, too.

I really, really appreciate the support of this sight. But, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, clarify before you jump all over someone! Words (especially the written word) can be misconstrued. I posted recently about a 4 week depression and doubting my decision. I mentioned eating a kids meal (portion!) and suddenly I am hanging out at McDonalds! Seriously?? I had a kids meal at Red Robin. It consisted of grilled chicken skewers with no sauce, and steamed/undressed broccoli (which I highly recommend if you are looking for a fun place to go with small/healthy options.) The drink was a diet lemonade, which I drank much later on the drive home. A perfectly health, reasonable choice. I was depressed because I was only able to eat about a third of it! Other restaurants have kids meals! Albeit, most consist of mac 'n cheese and hotdogs, but not all restaurants. I am trying very hard to go places with my family and not screwing up. These comments, however well meaning their intent, have really upset me, and I am seriously thinking of "checking out" of this site.

lol you can never stretch your stomach out to anywhere near the original size. period end of story. the fundus ( the elastic part of your stomach ) is removed gone, bye bye, it dont grow back, humans do not regenerate organs. Now your stomach will stretch a bit over time, but you will not stop that, it has to happen or else you wont take in enough nutrition. You will not get fat stretching your stomach you WILL get fat eating the wrong foods, like tix bars and cake and pizza and onion rings a, hmm miss those, etc etc.

Interesting. My surgeon said nothing could ever stretch your stomach back to its original size, ever.
However, obviously from the stories on this board alone, you can still absolutely regain weight with a reduced stomach size.

I drink soda every single day...diet cherry pepsi...mmmm, YUM. It doesn't bother my stomach at all. My doctor told me to lay off the soda and caffeine for the first two months and then if I could drink it if it didn't cause gas pain. There was no sleeve-related medical reason that I couldn't have it and while soda is bad for you, so are a lot of other things, most of which are not made any worse just because we only have 20% of a stomach. I figure I don't smoke, don't do drugs, rarely eat junk food, and rarely drink alcohol....if diet soda is my weakness, I'm pretty happy that's the one I have!

Thank you! I'm sure it's normal, just hard to eat this little and not see the scale move at all. I'm sure it will get in gear and we probably shouldn't worry about the dumb scale anyway:) Good Luck to you, I'm sure you will do great!

I was sleeved on 2/2. I lost 10lbs on the week long preop diet, then 10 lbs the week after surgery, and I've stalled ever since. Not lost one more lb. I'm getting in quite a bit of Protein and usually 60 grams a day. I do very well with the shakes, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese etc...however, I I don't get near what I need to for my Water intake. Maybe that's it. It tastes ok, I just can't get it down. I've not thrown up one time, never been nauseated, and had a great recovery. I'm very thankful for all that and just wondering it this is a stall or maybe something else. Also, I get that 20 lbs in a month is awesome!! Just worried thats it????Any thoughts?

    As for me -
I no longer have the arthritis pains in my knees
I no longer have issues with cholesterol
I no longer have issues with blood pressure
I no longer have issues with sleep apnea
I no longer have issues with diabetes
I no longer have issues with working out (much more enjoyable now!)
Although I have added additional Vitamins, my medicines have been reduced from 8 pills a day down to 3, with the 3 pills I take having nothing to do with weight (allergies, etc.)
This is just the health benefits I have realized...there are of course so many other benefits I am enjoying as well!!!

I think you will find even people who don't achieve an ideal weight get significant health benefits. I lost a CPAP,my A1c is way down (was inching toward pre diabetes), no more blood pressure meds. My other blood work was always good, but my cholesterol has gone from good to unheard of outside of Japan (that was a joke but my point is beyond excellent).
Since I work out my resting heart rate is 59, which is considered quite fit for a 50year old woman.
In spite of my current cold, I am sick much less and just generally look and feel much younger than my age.

So far, hard boiled eggs and ground chicken (but only when packed into a patty shape).
Sometimes she gets bitchy and refuses to tolerate something I just ate the day before with no issues. I guess that's her way of saying, "You've had quite enough of this, thankyouverymuch."

Hello! I had my surgery 02/03, everything is going great but I'm just wondering about the Vitamins. Any suggestions on a good tasting, once a day ones? The vitamins I have are terrible, they are called Celebrate (more like plug your nose, chew as fast as you can and swallow). Thanks everyone!
