I'm 11 days out and I don't need to slow sip anymore. I don't gulp or guzzle. But I can take repeated swallows of Water with no issue. Can't wait to start using straws again!

I'm alive, folks. Very uncomfortable, but the pain is not nearly as bad as I had thought it would be. Just trying to belch up all this gas... hooray. Here's hoping to going home today!

GeminiSleever reacted to nursejenny07 in 6 1/2 months post op and down 83 lbs (with pics)
I was sleeved July 28th and I am so happy with my progress! I'm down 83 lbs and still losing at a steady pace. I started at 262 lbs and am down down to 179! Crazy to think I'm only 30 lbs from my goal weight! I'm 5'5.5" and before surgery I was a size 22/24 in bottoms and XL in tops. Now I'm a size 12/14 and M/L. My body has changed a lot, but I've also changed a lot mentally! food no longer controls me, and I don't even like some of the foods I binged on before my sleeve. I still need to work out more, but getting on the treadmill and running at 5-6 mph isn't nearly as hard as it was 7 months ago! I'm training for my first 14er here in Colorado this summer. I can't wait! Here are some pics of me before surgery at 262 and today at 179

It's too soon for scar tissue, unless you've had surgery in that particular place in the past.

Thanks! I suspected scar tissue as a possibility, it just feels so weird. T disappears when I lay down but I'm very aware of it when I'm standing upright

GeminiSleever got a reaction from jenntai01 in Day 3 harder than Day 2?
I also had a rough day three. It was my first day home, the first day I had attempted to take fluids orally, and the day I dry heaved for nearly 24 hours. I also felt that fullness and restriction. Day four was a little less. Day five is when I truly started to recover. I'm now on day 7. Hang in there! It does get better and better each day. It doesn't feel like it in the middle of suffering, but it truly does.

GeminiSleever reacted to bfloguy82 in Ive realized a few things after surgery
So ive realized that im stubborn and should follow directions. I had my sleeve completed on February 5th and im currently 13 days post op which caused me to THINK I could handle soft foods before my designated time. BIG MISTAKE. I should have taken it slower. I became a bit sick because I rushed the process. I guess what im trying to say is dont rush onto the next step because you test certain foods and feel ok. It will eventually catch up to you and cause more harm then good. Im now following the doctors instructions to a T. I dont want to stretch the sleeve or cause any leaks. Its difficult but I have to remind myself its temporary and necessary in order to heal properly and set myself up for long term success.

I had the same thing at one of my incision sites...I asked my surgeon about it ,and he says it's common. I'm now over a year out, and although it's much smaller and has no pain, it's still there and pretty much unnoticeable

I have a tiny hard knot on one of my recent incisions. It's scar tissue, however I would suggest you get that looked at by your Dr. Can never be too cautious.

YIKES! Today is the day, after all of the waiting and worrying, hoping and praying. It is finally here. I am feeling very lucky to be able to take this journey. I am excited about the new life that awaits me. I am also nervous, about the procedure but more about after. I have lived for stories from those that have gone before me. I only hope I can live up to the expectations I and others have put on me. To this that have already had thwit surgery, I wish you continued success and speedy recovery. If you are still waiting for you day. Believe me it do3s finally get here and now it feels like it went quickly, lol. I want to thank all of you for the amazing support this forum has provided. I had my gastric bypass surgery on 02/12 and I stayed overnight at the hospital (Emory at John's Creek, GA). The procedure took about 2 hours, then I was in recovery, then eventually taken to my room. I was told by my doctor (Michael D. Williams, MD, who is very awesome!!!!) that this procedure could be outpatient and I could go home the same day, but knowing how I felt after the surgery. I elected to stay overnight and I'm glad I did...
Within hours, I was told that I needed to walk around, and that would help with the gas pain. I was given liquids to drink, but I just didn't have the appetite. The IV will keep you hydrated, and you will be using the restroom a lot. Most of the night was spent sleeping in my hospital bed and occasionally walking if I felt up to it.
The next morning, I was discharged from the hospital. I was given a flu shot, a B12 injection shot (which lasts for 1 month), and a injection in my stomach to help with the nausea.
I'm still recovering, but so far things have been good. I haven't had any nausea or any throwing up. I take in about 2 ounces of Fluid every 15 minutes as told by the nurse. It's hard to get in at least 3 Protein Shakes a day (60-80 grams), but I make sure I come close to it. I was also told to drink at least 64 ounces of Water a day if I can.
Since Thursday, I have lost a total of 12 pounds and I am very excited!! If I continue to follow the stage 1 (liquids- 2 weeks), 2 (soft foods-2/4 weeks), and 3 (permanent) diets and monitor what I eat, I will have a very successful weight loss without any complications. The doctor says that I can start going to the gym in about three weeks, but for the time being I'm doing small things like lifting 2 pound weights and walking around for at least 30 minutes (if I don't get tired).
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, that's what this site is for, we want to help each other out. I can also be reached at tawana_williams@hotmail.com
Again, I appreciate everyone's comments and telling us about your weight loss journeys, it helps a lot.

@@GeminiSleever I would like to say it was strength, but really, I just knew what damage I could do if I tried to eat any solids at this point. I am TERRIFIED of the temptations that await me when I am on solids and don't have the medical restrictions I have right now. food has filled so many holes in my life, so I totally understand what you are saying. It is like we are in mourning for a dear friend. I love the idea of having a small bite of favorites when the need arises. I truly think that may help keep the cravings from leading to an all-out binge. Stay strong! You can do this!

I can't remember the last time I weighed under 200 pounds but I am so very excited this morning! This last two weeks has been grueling but the weight is definitely coming off. I have actually been feeling better the last two days so hopefully the worst part is over now. I just wanted to share my good news! I hope everyone has a good day.
