You need the new respironics auto adjusting machine. No set pressure. The pressure auto adjusts all night based on your needs which will be great as you lose weight!!

I have had it and it is yummy! I would not be allowed to have it though because of the high carbs and sodium and lack of Protein. I will miss Panera soups!

Potato Soup sounds wonderful but I have a hard time getting Protein in to reach 60 gr that I couldn't afford potato soup which must be loaded with carbs which we all are trying to avoid.

I have a hard time getting all the Protein in too and I'm not allowed starchy carbs until I reach my maintenance weight.

Cut yourself a break! Tomorrow is a new day. The next time you feel temptation, you will remember how you feel right now and hopefully you will not give in to the junk.

I think it depends on genetics and age and how much you lose. I am assuming i will have a good amount of loose skin. I figure since it will be hidden under clothing i can live with it. Kinda hard to cover up being 100+ pounds overweight.

As I am reading this, I am hoping that is not at all what he meant. Is it possible you interpreted his words wrong? After past surgeries my husband has been afraid to touch me for fear of injuring me. Could that have been what he meant to say?
If that is indeed his attitude, send him back to his mommy. He isn't fully cooked yet.

One of the biggest downfalls of the standard American diet is that most of what we eat now is processed in a factory, and we have no recall of what real food tastes like. It just takes a while to get used to real food in it's natural state. macaroni, bread, and crackers don't grow on vines. You may need to find some Youtube cooking videos or monitor some Paleo or Primal sites like Mark's Daily Apple. Eggface is a good site and is mentioned here often.
I was 54 before I ever tasted an avocado, sunchoke, artichoke, asparagus, olive oil, hummus, pomegranate, squash, zuchinni, quinoa, cayenne, coconut milk, almond milk, Greek yogurt, ricotta, asiago cheese, gouda cheese, feta cheese, mascarpone, muenster, neufechatel, dill, pesto, tahini, green tea, kale, eggplant, jicama, tomatillos, shitake mushrooms, capers, tofu, basmati rice, black eyed peas, cannellini Beans, endamame, and prosciutto. This does not include casseroles and Entrees that I was used to, but had never been made from scratch with fresh ingredients.
How did that happen? I grew up on TV dinners, Pop Tarts, hot dogs and Kraft macaroni and Cheese because my mother did not enjoy cooking. Eight years ago I met my boyfriend who is a Maltese citizen. He has intoduced me to the Mediterranean style of cooking. Between him and my daughter who became a vegetarian, I have been exposed to all of those foods that I had only heard of but had never tried. Nope, I did not like them all, and I still think tofu is disgusting, but almost everything else is delicious - and I had no idea.
So, be brave. Try new stuff and get adventurous in the kitchen. You aren't doomed a life of boiled chicken and unsalted geen Beans. I wish you good luck and good health.

WillyBoo reacted to mrsbailey921 in What's your opinion of Low Fat?
for me, NORMAL is key. i just want to eat NORMALLY. like HEALTHY people do. i want to have a VARIED diet with all nutrients, minerals and Vitamins, and yes, fat too.
i was once on a strict no fat diet...my body was retaining the weight and i was always sick. then i started adding fat again but in more limited quantities and i started losing.
i also had a relatively high fat diet that did not include bread or Pasta and i lost a good amount of weight, and always had energy.
fat is not the enemy and i do not listen to any advice that tells me to cut it from my diet.

In the first few weeks after surgery, I found that my emotions were heightened and my patience was reduced. I think you may be going through the same thing. Your husband did not have WLS and cannot be expected to adhere to your diet. It is nice when he remembers your feelings and keeps his food to himself, but living together, that's not always realistic. When it drives you up the wall, take a walk or engage in some other activity that will distract you.
The good news is that your current discomfort and irritability will subside as you progress through the stages. Hang in there.

While its a great moment to have your child want to take you out. Another way to look at this is a teaching moment that you are taking care of yourself. Perhaps Celebrate another way like going to a museum or a walk on the beach. Our culture traditionally uses food as a way to Celebrate, but perhaps now is the time to change how you celebrate the good in your life.

@WillieBoo It was faxed last week, Tuesday I think. I was told I should know something this week, and to call UHC Tuesday if I hadn't heard something. UHC only requires BMI over 40 (or 35 with 2 comorbids), use a Center of Excellence, and have documentation of a supervised Dr diet (no actual number of visits required), and psych clearance. I have it all. The EGD was done, no issues there. I did the 2 hour nutritionist class on the 25th of Feb. Been waiting since then. I think I'm probably only a day or two away from hearing if I am approved. But, I don't think there is any reason why I wouldn't be, based on the requirements. Anywho......gonna watch a movie or read a book or stalk the bariatricpal site to keep my mind off ME. lol Take care everyone!
