  1. Okay I've been waiting to have my surgery since August. My surgery is next monday. Just had my preop on Friday. Well today my regular doctor calls me and says he needs to see me in regards to my lab work. Long story short I end up speaking to his nurse she says my white blood count was high. She aside if I wa sick and I said no just real bad allergies. I did tell her I was sick a month ago. She said usually high white blood count means my body is fighting an infection. Aww I'm so bummed I have to go get new lab work done today. I doubt anything will change since Friday. It really hard for me to find someone to watch my child while I have surgery and I actually found someone and everything was falling into place until today:( has this happened to anyone else?

  2. Wow! Couldn't agree with @"tauruslady5" better!!! This site is for opinions and views!!! All these people attacking her for posting her opinion, need to stop acting like the POLICE!!!! IM ASSUMING EVERYONE THAT IS MAKING THESE COMMENTS ARE EITHER POLICE OR LAWYERS, SINCE YOUR "OPINION" IS TO INCARCERATE HER!! RELAX, PEOPLE ITS NOT THAT SERIOUS! I bet a few of you have asked questions on this forum that should have been for your doctor instead of here!

  3. That's awesome and motivating to hear! I really dislike artificial sugar!!! Ive never had raw honey....I'm going to have to try that!!!

It depends on the person. I don't do any artificial sugars. I am allergic to them and stevia. I use Isopure Naked whey as my Protein powder. I use FAGE 0% Greek plain and add my own fruit. I do occasionally use real sugar, but my main sweetener of choice is raw honey. However I do not use it often. I might have honey 2 or 3 times a month.

I cannot speak for anyone but myself. Processed foods and artificial sugars trigger my allergies and make me severely ill. You can eat a bariatric diet and not eat those products but it will be challenging. It is working for me. I have shown a loss everytime I go to the doctor.

  4. Awesome!!! I would love to read your report! I totally agree with everything your saying, that's why I'm concerned about consuming artificial sugars.

    Afternoon....

What a great topic. I have actually written up a report on Sugar versus Artificial Sugars. It is a proven fact that artificial sweetners cause Cancer.

I also performed a study where I had diabetic eat sugar-free products and then take their blood sugars two hours later and those results proved that their levels were "way too high". Then I would have them, on another day, eat regular sugar and take their levels. Those levels were within normal ranges.

You really have to watch what you eat, drink, use for bathroom products, because most items have artificial sweetners in them. Even the Stevia, unless you are eating the leaf directly, it is a process sugar.

I have had alot of my diabetic, surgery, and regular friends stop taking artificial sweetners and the feel so much better. Once I have also told them that it is a proven fact that it causes Cancer, they stop.

As long as you listen to your dietician and eat a product that has only 8 or less grams of sugar, you should be fine. I had my surgery in November and I continue to loose weight and I do not eat anything that states "Sugar-Free".

  5. Perfect! Im scared of eating real sugar and not being able to loose all I can really loose.

I couldn't tolerate artificial sweeteners postop so i went with regular sugar (real fruit juices, regular Vitamin Water, Lifewater, etc.) the Protein Shakes were a pain because they all had artificial sweeteners. I had to find ones sweetened with Stevia or make my own with unflavored powder. I use regular Torani syrups to flavor my shakes and yogurt, not SF and I don't eat pudding/Popsicles/etc that have sugar or sugar substitutes anyways. Even with regular sugar, I still lost over 100% of my excess weight and have kept it off

As for the diabetic thing, as far as I know, artificial sweeteners will still spike your blood sugar just like real sugar. Erythritol is the only exception to this.

  6. That's a really odd response. I was thinking of saying I went on Kaisers medifast program , which is all liquids for a certain amount of weeks!!!

I work in a doctors office as a manager so I told the medical director what I was going to do. I kept going back and forth on whether to tell my staff or not and asked her advice. She told me to tell them because the weight I'll be losing I'll look like I have cancer and they might worry. I just thought that was an odd response

  7. That's awesome advice!!! I need to print this out to motivate me every time my mind wonders!!! basic reason is for my health!!! funny thing is I never told my boss about the surgery he found out from HR.

What were your reasons for getting surgery before talking to your boss? Remember those. Remember everything you learned while researching the different surgeries. You need to choose for you. I was sleeved three weeks ago and even though I sometimes eat too fast and regret it, and even though I'm tired of shakes, even though i know there are always risks, and even though I hit the three week stall a week early, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I did this for my health. Not anyone else's. You need to choose for you.
You can do this! Good luck!!

  8. whoo hoo that is awesome...your giving me some motivation!!!

I'm 5'7 and I was 260 when I decided to have my surgery. Now, over 3 months later I'm 203. I've never been this weight as an adult despite decades on dieting. I couldn't have done it without surgery.

  9. Thank you that's a very good response :)

thanks....there really is a lot of naysayers that don't have knowledge. It very irritating and upsetting at times. congrats on your new sleeve!!!!

There can be lots of naysayers out there that do not understand our struggles. Some out of concern and some simply do not want to see us succeed! Stay focused on your health and the positive people in your life. I am 2 weeks post op and have no regrets.

  10. Thank you that's a very good response :)

My response to that type of comment was thank you for your concern and I will continue working with my medical team to do what's best for me. Almost six months later and everyone sees the positive effects for me :-)

  11. Hello, my surgery is next month! I was very excited until everyone close to me started discouraging me. Today my boss told me don't do it , u don't need it, ur gonna be sick all the time, just work out, change your life! I'm like hello don't you think I have tried that! But they don't understand....I'm 5'7 and weigh 260. Please help what should my response be...because now I'm getting discouraged!

  12. Hello, I need some help in figuring this out. ..Which is better for a sleeved person artificial sugars or real sugar? I'm noticing alot of items that are used are sugar free such as sugar free Torani, yogurts, and crystal light. As far as I've been educated by doctors (not gastric drs) our body doesn't break down that sugar properly. I'm just really concerned and scared because a few weeks ago I was loading up on sugar free items, until the dr told me I was a pre diabetic. Once the health educator told me artificial sugars are bad...I stopped. Please help and let me know the reasons it's allowed for us! I'm scheduled for my sleeve March 23rd so I want to be really informed. Thanks!
