leximik reacted to Twirpo75 in Recommendations on good protein bars

These are the bars I eat. If you click on the ingredient list the whole nutritional label comes up. The salted caramel has 20 grams of carbs. But they are DELICIOUS! I get them at Wal-Mart but I've also seen them at Target. They are so yummy and the perfect size. I have a bizzare love-hate relationship with Peanut Butter so these bars are perfect for me. After a month long liquid diet I just couldn't do Protein drink anymore. Then I found these.
Good luck!!

leximik reacted to JamieLogical in Recommendations on good protein bars
You're going to have a hard time finding any sort of bar with low total carbs. There are many low net carb options, but I haven't seen any with low carbs overall. It's the nature of the beast. In order for it to have a bar shape, size, and consistency, it needs to be filled with SOMETHING, and that something is always carbs of some sort.

leximik reacted to JamieLogical in Exercise Anyone
No no no. The gain has NOTHING to do with increased calories. You didn't increase your calories by 10500 did you? When you begin exercising intensely after a long period of not exercising, your body retains Water to heal your muscles. That 3 pounds is 100% Water weight. Read this:

leximik reacted to JamieLogical in Hair loss
I ate all my Protein and took all my Vitamins and still experienced Hair loss as well. It was at its worst from about 3.5 months to 5 months post-op. I am now almost 8 months and it has slowed considerably. Still have more coming out than I did pre-op, but I also have a lot of new growth.

leximik reacted to NewSetOfCurves in Hair loss
You can eat right, get your calories, Protein and Vitamins in, but you will most likely still experience the Hair loss. My doctor told me it would be 18 months to 2 years until my hair was finally back to its pre-op state. My extreme hair loss stopped before my year was up, but it was still coming out, just a bit more slowly. Once I got my calories up to about 1200 and maintained there for a couple months, I was then able to observe normal hair loss. Now, as 22 months out I can say that my hair is ALMOST restored to its original fullness.

leximik reacted to Kindle in Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet
So what plans do you have to keep yourself from "cheating" every day post op? Since you are choosing to go against your doctor's orders your medical well being is obviously not a priority. If you aren't already, you probably need to see a therapist to deal with your food issues because you will be hungry after surgery, too. There's really nothing but your head keeping you from eating whatever you want and either not reaching goal or gaining weight back after you do lose it.

leximik reacted to carstanger in Anyone lose more than 50lbs in this age group (over 60) ?
I'm 67 and one and 1/2 years out. I have lost 105 pounds and fluctuate a few pounds. I have set a limit and will not let myself go above it!! Wish I could have done this many years ago!!
