Hi! All the best to you - I remember being where you are and looking at all the photos (I still am in progress!) Here are a few of mine. I started out at 289.8 pounds on day of surgery (6/20/2014) and am at 206 pounds currently with 56 pounds left to go. Excited for all of us; I don't regret a single day after having my surgery.

I can't believe it's May. MAY! NUTSO. So, I'm doing well. I crept into the "overweight" BMI category last week, and when I mentioned it to my husband ("Guess what, honey? I'm OVERWEIGHT!"), his reaction was hilarious. I had to explain that it's a GOOD thing!
Now that the warm weather has finally hit where I live, suddenly everyone is coming out of the woodwork to remark on my weight loss. I think it's a combo of the magic 60-lb number and the fact that suddenly I'm not buried in 20 layers of sweaters any more. So that's a little weird, but mostly good.
I've been able to eat some salad stuff. Still not much luck with cooked veggies, alas. But I'll get there. I've finally been able to skip the Protein Shake for Breakfast and have something more substantial.
And...I've had to size down to a size L a couple of times. WOOHOO.

Hi everyone I had my surgery January 12th and have been losing an average of 2 pounds a week which I'm extremely happy about. I drink a Protein Shake daily and eat a Protein Bar daily ( pure Protein or quest). I look forward to my protein bar as I get my sweet tooth satisfied that way too! It amazes me how I can eat a cookie or a thin slice of cake with no full sensation but a only a couple of bites of chicken and I'm exploding at the seams! Overall super happy I'm sleeved & enjoy keeping updated in everyone else

    Hello January buddies!
I had my 3 month follow up at my surgeon's office today. Met with the Physician's Assistant and my Nut who both said I was doing great! I have lost 35 pounds which is 40% of the total I want to lose. My blood work was good, except Calcium is too high which is weird... I eat very little dairy and always forget my calcium supplements. So I don't have to take them anymore. Check up and blood work again in 3 months. I'm still struggling a bit with my Water and am working to get more exercise in. Overall I am really happy.
I don't post much, but I read tons of posts, and this site has helped me so much!

@@Veronica Page. I wish you all the best in your journey. I'm glad you've found what works for you, and you should continue if it makes you successful. And I'm not saying the scale is necessarily a bad thing, but for those that let it control their emotions, it is certainly not a good thing. There are plenty of people that use the scale as a tool for accountability and to make adjustments to their diet but realize it's normal for the numbers to go up and down and even stay still for long periods. It just makes me sad to see how unhappy some people let those numbers make them.

THE DREADED STALL at 8 weeks post-op. Had to come sometime.
Had my 2 month checkup and the nurse said to get off the scales so often. She said I'm losing even if the scales don't show it and try weighing once a month. Yikes!
Also noted that I am slow to heal and not to fuss about it. Everyone is different. My tiny-tummy takes a few hours to wake up each AM. I on liquids for the 1st 4 hours of the day. I'm still on soft food the rest of the day otherwise I'm pretty uncomfortable (not painful tho) and can still vomit introducing new foods. So I'm sticking to a small range of foods I know I can eat. Increasing exercise as I can.
The fantastic news is I can finally drink a glass of Water pretty much the same as pre-surgery. I sure missed that! And things are tasting close to normal.
The scary part is I think I'm starting to get tempted to eat carbs which to this point didn't interest me.
What a steep learning curve this sleeve is! I had no idea. (I'm a lap band to sleeve revision and this learning to eat is much harder. But the lap band hurt SO MUCH MORE. Nurse also told me that after the initial healing process there is a LOT LESS complications with sleeve, gastric bypass and other. Lap band has many more complications after healing cuz of foreign object which can erode, slip, break and just plain hurt. So happy to have that thing out of me.
Best to all of you January sleevers, we can DO THIS!

I went to a local WLS support group yesterday. There was a woman who was about 8 yrs post-op sleeve and still looked fabulous. She is a staff member from the WLS clinic I went to.

One of the main topics for the group was fear of failure. We all felt it. Her encouragement was to focus on healing for the first 6 weeks and not worry about failing. Follow your doc's plan and you won't fail. It's normal to feel the fear. ...We've failed so many times before. It's a life time change we've made and it will take a while and some time to figure out how to live our new life style. We didn't get obese overnight, and we won't change our behaviors overnight.
The best advice I heard is that The WLS and new sleeve hit's the pause button for us while we loose weight and figure out how to live our new life. She said that soon enough the pause button starts to move to forward, so make your behavior changes now and get your NEW way of living life (and eating) a solid practice. And stop worrying. We have choices, it's up to us to make good ones to be successful.
I thought it was wise council.

My Doctor basically said this is a body reboot. You are going to get the chance to not only lose weight but to also learn how to have Portion Control and learn what you can eat and what you can't. she does not want me to think that I will never be able to have that slice of cake but to think instead of that huge piece a little slice is o.k. and I will be satisfied. That I will never be able to eat the amount of food I use to be able to get but I will be able to eat it in moderation. I suppose it is an unrealistic expectation for me and for most to think you are NEVER going to have that small slice of pizza again or enjoy that piece of toast. I'm completely willing to give it up for 3-6 months but I want to be able to eat those things again and want to know what my limits are so I don't over indulge. I don't drink soda so that is not a sacrifice to me anymore and I'm willing to forever forgo the sugar. I don't want to live my life missing out on things so I'm committed to the change.

The human body is so interesting.
The way our bodies respond to a pretty serious surgery and a tiny stomach and how fast everyone recovers from surgery is so individual. So is the weight loss.
I try to remember this is an individual journey before my crazy human mind jumps in and tells me I'm not doing it right, I'm bad, I'm never gonna get it, and then I get on the downward spiral of depression. It's going to take some time and my journey is most likely going to be different than anyone else's.
Seems I can get as crazy eating 4000 calories a day as I can 400 calories. LOL I NEVER in my life thought I'd only eat 400-500 calories a day and not be hungry AND NOT LOSE WEIGHT.
I do think I am getting some muscle back. I was pretty much a sleeping or sitting for the 1st 3 weeks after surgery. Muscle weighs more than fat so I just figure I'm getting muscle. Clothes are getting looser. Even got a ring on my pinkie that I haven't been able to wear for 20 years.
Best wishes to you all and I know we can all do this. It's just gonna take some time and patience.
