joleno got a reaction from blondebomb in Belch trapped when eating!
Anyone else experience this? I will eat and start to feel like I have to belch, but the gas feels like it's trapped under the food I ate and if I try too hard the food will come up instead. I usually sit there and struggle with the pain until it passes, but it is really miserable and then afterwards even though I feel better food just doesn't sound good at that point.

joleno reacted to JamieLogical in Overweight! Including Progress Pics
Yesterday I weighed in a 185.2, which puts my BMI at 29.9. So I am now officially only "overweight". Woohoo! Even though it's only been 2 months and 12 pounds since my last set of progress pics, I had my husband go ahead and take new ones for this major milestone. You can see all of my pics in my gallery, but here are a couple showing my 54 pound loss since the pre-op photos were taken:

I've never posted pictures on here before. My co workers found an old picture of me yesterday and wanted to take a picture to compare. We were all amazed at the results. It was very emotional for me. Down about 90 lbs in 6 months. Never been happier!

joleno got a reaction from andisuewho in 5 weeks out. What's everyone eating?!
Turkey sausage or eggs for breakfast, chicken salad or Soup for lunch, cheese sticks or greek yogurt for snack. I usually eat a small amount of what I fix for the family for dinner.
I also love the pinto and cheese from Taco Bell, only if I'm out and about and hungry.

joleno got a reaction from Mel24 in Do I have to give up Coffee? If so, how? Suggestions please!
I'm one month post and have a small coffee every morning. Sometimes I don't even drink it all, but it is very therapeutic for me to fix it and start my day off with one:)

I made one the other night with two frothed egg whites and a 25g shake sachet. Can't remember whether I put any yoghurt in it, but I did have some on top. It was very fluffy, not as heavy as a regular pancake. It was quite big, too.
I've made one with just the shake mix and milk or Water and it made a very small pancake, but it was still quite filling.
I add stevia, Benefiber plus 10g of another powder I have that's disgusting but really good protein-wise. None of these extras are really necessary.

I found a "recipe" that just calls for taking Protein powder & adding enough milk or Water to turn it into batter consistency & making pancakes out of it. I'm a little suspicious to try it, but I might give it a shot.

I know that I can not have regular pancakes, but I have seen several recipes for cottage cheese or ricotta pancakes. If I'm on a soft diet would you think those are acceptable??

My surgery was 1/29 and I was released today by my doctor to start purred food. I ate black bean Soup for lunch and then egg salad for dinner. I was only able to eat 2 ounces but I was able to keep it down. I also drank 1-2 ounces of a Protein Shake. I agree that it's definitely hard to get all the Protein in. I'm struggling too. But I think it will take time, so once you can have puréed food just try your best. Have you tried Isopure ready to drink protein?? The flavors are so strong, but it's clear liquid and you might like them. Good luck, I will be interested in what others say:)

I am 16 days out and I concur with everyone else--it gets MUCH better, fast! Are you still in the hospital? If you are, let them know that your pain and nausea aren't being handled by the drugs so they can up them or change them. That's their job--don't be afraid to rate your pain as an 8, 9, or 10!
I felt better when I came home, then better at 5 days out, then incrementally better each day. Soon you will hardly remember how much it sucked, I promise!

I'm at day ten now and it improves so quickly. I'm going on a bike ride later and I did a four mile hike yesterday.
You got this, stay focused on the goals and sleep as much as you can for a couple days. There are so many unexpected wonderful moments right around the corner, you just need to get there.
    Good luck.

I was given great advise from another member. Treat recovery like a job. It keeps you focused and pushing ahead towards the easier days. This is serious work walking, drinking and eating sufficiently. Know what you have to accomplish every hour and push through.
    Better days are sooooo close.
