Today is my 1 year anniversary from sleeve surgery. Down 140 lbs from pre-op diet weight and very happy w/the results.

I'm new to this site. I was sleeved 12/2/15 and I'm down 62 lbs!! I don't have a lot of full body shots but maybe when I get to my goal weight I'll have more! I love seeing all the pictures they give my hope and excitement for the future!

I had posted these on FB but thought I'd share with this group. I truly see my sleeve as a gift - to treasure - to nurture - to respect. So I decided to give my surgeon a gift, as well. I made her some Cookies. I gave them to her in pre-op when she came to talk to us. She was so excited she tweeted about them immediately. I also made trays of the same cookies for pre-op, recovery and the nurses on my floor. Everyone was so appreciative. If you look closely, there are little tic marks on the edges where the "sleeve" is cut -- to sort of look like staple marks. Now if only they were healthier!!

You may want to do some research on a genetic disorder called hemochromatosis. There are several blood tests used to diagnose it, also a DNA test. I have it and so does most of my fathers family, our bodies accumulate excess Iron and don't release it as one would normally do. If not treated it causes a multitude of diseases such as liver cirrhosis, joint pain, heat disease and the list goes on. The good news is that it's very treatable, mainly by phlebotomy (blood donation).

Hopefully all is well.

@@BLERDgirl Thanks for your response....I checked my Iron and my value was 64! He did the recheck of the Vitamins, not the Iron, this time to see about the Ferritin. They said they weren't concerned the first time since all my other levels were good.

Eat small.. meaning don't stuff yourself. Get in the habit of stopping eating when no longer hungry rather than seeking "full" and you won't stretch your sleeve.
I am not really sure if sleeves stretch - I am nearly 4 years out and I sometimes can eat more than other times. I find that when I "follow the rules" and eat Protein first etc etc etc I magically have great restriction.

@@confusedgirl18 Did you look for G2? I believe that's what the Gatorade is called that is sugar free.< /p>

I told when asked about my weightloss. Other than that, I seen no reason for it to be brought up. It's not like I went around telling people about my gallbladder removal.

This is what I was told on Calcium too. Also I always take Vitamins with food or Protein shake so I don't feel sick.

@@Mandyctr I'm down 95 lbs now!!!!

@@jands75 exactly as @@LifeIsGood14 states...2 a day...I take them first thing in the morning so 2 hours later I can take my first Calcium dose.
