    Cruise

Glad to hear you had a great time. I had my surgery May5th, so six week out today. I actually have 4 cruises booked between now and September. I am not worried in the least about the eating part. I can barely eat anything at home so I can't imagine it will be much different on ship. My plan is to relax use the time to finish healing, exercise and have a great time! Did you have to clear your protein drinks prior to your cruise? I was going to pack powder but would rather take premium protein cartons.
  2. Well today is a new day..... I truly appreciate everyone's reply yesterday, and as much as I knew the answer, it was reassuring to hear that there was nothing I was doing wrong, except getting a little anxious. I think I just had a lot of emotions build up and needed to vent some out. I am going to try not to weigh every day, which will be extremely hard - lol.... I guess after reading about other's weight loss success after surgery, once I had my own surgery, it's only natural to want to see the results as well.......and want to see them daily ????. Thanks again.......have a wonderful weekend!!!!
  3. I am so frustrated this morning. As if yesterday morning wasn't bad enough when I weighed and the scales had not moved - this morning I got on and they still haven't moved. (I lost 15 pounds in the first 8 days) I am only 10 days post surgery and it seems I have already hit a stall and I don't understand. I am still on liquids and barely consuming anything. This week I have tried to add in a little more Protein via sipping two Protein drinks throughout the day - (160 calories each and 1 gram of sugar) - I have added a little greek yogurt, and sugar free Jello as well..... (about a tablespoon a couple times a day).... Plus I am trying to increase my walking each day - yesterday my Fitbit registered just over 6500 steps...... I don't get it. How can I possibly not be losing? It just doesn't make sense to me...and very hard to wrap my head around mentally. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
  4. Thanks.... I did go ahead this morning with the Miralax and everything came out fine (so to speak ) I sure do feel better too!

    Anyone getting their surgery soon?

I had my surgery last week - May 5th. Would love to keep in touch! Good luck to you and your surgery.
  6. Good Morning All.... I had my bypass on May 5th, so tomorrow morning I will be exactly one week out. It has definitely been a week of ups and downs (although mainly ups). Surgery went better and quicker than expected as I also had a large hernia repaired at the same time. I also was released from the hospital a day earlier than I had expected. So things were looking great! Thursday was great but Friday was my day from hell. Everything hurt so bad, and I felt that I could barely move. By Sunday I felt like I was back on the upswing. I was able to walk my block outside without having to stop and catch my breath. I could stand up without feeling like my stomach was dropping to my feet and I was able to enjoy a wonderful mother's day with my family. This morning was the first morning I didn't struggle to roll over in bed or have pain sitting up to get out of bed. So I think I'm starting off my week great. Just one problem...... I still have not gone to the bathroom since surgery. Is this normal? I know I have only had liquids, and am peeing regularly. I am a little concerned as before surgery I took Milalax every morning with my coffee. Maybe I should start taking it again?? Any advice? (btw, down 10 pounds since surgery and 34 pounds total! )
  7. Good luck to you! I'm sure you will do fine. I just had my surgery on Tuesday morning and will tell you that Thursday was my day from hell...(my own fault as I expected I would feel a lot better than I did, and thought I would be over the bad pains by Thursday - so it made it all worse) . but after talking to some mentors and becoming a little more accepting of how I was feeling ,it has been going great. I am hoping next week will bring even better days! Keep us posted on how you do =)

    May 5th Surgery time

Such a small world. I have not been on this site since my surgery which was also May 5th, same surgeon and I'm sure same hospital (Mercy). Glad to hear you did well with it all. I was released at around 11:00 on Wednesday morning. Wednesday was not too bad other than having a difficult time catching my breath after walking. Thursday was a good day - felt good and was able to walk my cul-de-sac for the first time. Still on meds. After Thursday, I figured Friday would be a breeze and I should be well on the upswing...... wrong! It was my worse day ever. I spent most of the day on meds and in bed. This morning I woke up feeling better and have actually been awake since 4:30 am. I find I am still getting winded when I walk a lot, but getting through it. How is your pain today? Mine has subsided quite a bit since yesterday - but not counting on it staying that way. From other people I know who have had this surgery - the first week was referred to as "hell week". I am doing better on getting my liquids in today - sleeping a lot the past days have limited my total intake. Looking forward to moving on to week two. Let's stay in touch.....
