I had my gastric bypass surgery on November 10, 2014, by Dr. William Norwood in Shreveport, Louisiana. I had high blood pressure, 2 knee surgeries in less than a year, sleep apnea, gout, arthritis, constant pain in my joints and back, facing a knee and hip replacement, but the straw that broke the camels back was when they told me I was diabetic. The doctor told me that being overweight was taking 20 years off my life. Well, I was 59, so I felt my life could end at anytime. I felt horrible all the time and I would cry in the mornings trying to get ready for work. Just felt like I couldn't take much more. I went to a seminar with Dr. Norwood. He does the robotic gastric bypass, which gives you a quicker recovery time and less pain. My insurance paid 100%, which was a major blessing. It has been a fairly tough process, but the best advice I can give you is to commit yourself to the process and develop a whatever it takes attitude and GO FOR IT! In a little over 2 months since the procedure, I am down 51 pounds. I walk on the treadmill a little everyday and use the Total Gym every so often.
