Hi. My surgery 4/20 and was also with Dr. Nicholson. I live in the n. Garland area and would love some local support. I'm new to the area so all my family and friends live about 5 hours away.

mysleeve reacted to Rogofulm in How many of you continue the shakes in your diet after many months after surgery?
10 months out, and I have a Premier Protein chocolate shake every single morning. It jump starts my day with 30 grams of Protein, one-third of the way to my daily goal. "And it's so tasty too!" (Just like Vitameatavegamin, for those of you old enough to remember THAT one!)

@@mysleeve ok so I pray for you!! Just remember that everyday after surgery gets better day to day. If you are like most you will wonder what the hell you did to yourself but it will pass with the coming days! Make sure you ask for your pain Meds ahead of time! Have someone pound on your upper back and that will help with the gas pains! You will do great! Good luck! P.s. Listen to your doctor

@@mysleeve, you can do this! The reason I explained the reason for the preop diet was because that is what helped me maintain it. Knowing that it wasn't just about staying on a plan to lose a pound, but, would really make a difference. Do your best, and, if you are worried, just let your doctor know. Chances are it will be fine.
Good luck!

It could cause your surgeon to postpone your surgery if your liver is still fatty. Our head hunger is a difficult battle and you'll still have to face that battle post-op also. The pre-op diet is very important on many levels, so try and stay on track.
Good luck!

mysleeve reacted to Elizabeth21 in Pre op fail
Well, here's the thing. It's not really about whether the doctor finds out. It's about avoiding liver damage and other complications during surgery. The preop diet is done in order to shrink the size of your liver. Some surgeons are more experienced, skillful, or cautious and therefore some are more strict than others about this.
Do yourself the favor of maintaining your preop diet as closely as possible so that your surgery can go as smoothly as possible. Dealing with surgical complications will be much harder than foregoing the cheating during preop.
Good luck!

I'm very interested in what comments people leave here ???? I don't wanna mess up my chances either. I'm not given any amount to lose beforehand so what's the big deal!?

How are they gonna know you cheated? It's not like they took pictures of our livers to begin with right? If it was that big of a deal you'd think they would do an ultrasound or something like it to image it right? I have to do two weeks and I'm scared I'm gonna fail too ???? -

Unless you have a kidney disorder or similar that is going to keep you from excreting the excess B12, you'll be fine - B12 (like C & like the other B vitamins) is Water soluble so it's not going to do you any harm if you get extra. My sublingual B12s are about 500% of the RDA, and my Vitamin C is about 1000% of the RDA. worst it's going to do is turn your pee yellow.
