    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Has anyone started loosing hair? Last Saturday I had mine cut to donate and then Tuesday after my 3 month Dr.'s appt on Monday its really started. I'm sure I will be fine - it's just freaky to see the drain each morning.

@@TheBombMom I'm eating cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, bell pepper and lettuce. But I've tried a little cabbage and carrot and my belly hinted it was not yet time. Celery has not been appealing yet. My surgeon said to hold off on the harder things until 6 weeks and then try them weekly. Last week I had seared tuna and could eat that no problem but then I had tuna poke and my belly suggested it was not fully ready. So we'll hold off on Sushi for a bit longer. Nothing huge or incredible happened - it was just a little gnawing that it was taking a bit more work than other things. I haven't been getting too excited because by the time I get my protein in my "belly budget" is near full and there's not a lot of room left for other things. Indian food was AWESOME - we did need to adjust the spice as I don't get rice or bread but my tummy was totally ready for the bit of increased spice. I was able to try a bit of everything and didn't feel cheated and I was able to eat on my left overs for 2 days. Fruit I've been eating. One of those big Honeycrisps is 4 servings for me and if I slice it thin I can eat the skin no problem. Haven't tried orange type fruit yet. Strawberries are a-ok and bananas (ok 1/2 a banana at a time) has been on the menu since mushies. I went for my 8 week on Tuesday and my surgeon said not to worry too much about the fruits and veggies right now as I'm on my supplements and my body can make the carbs and fats I need. That I just need to focus on getting in the protein and water as my body can't make that and would take what it needs from my muscle mass - and my muscles are what I'm not trying to loose! She said my 1000-to 1100 calories were good but not to go below 800 and if it varied in that range it was ok. My weightloss has been slower. There was a 3 week stall around week 3. But my surgeon said I was still on track and where I should be. I'm glad she gave me my little gold star because watching everyone else I was feeling a bit left behind. Even though I'm meeting things in my closet I haven't met in years. I'm sure I've said "How YOU doin?" in my best Joey voice at least 50 times when I discover an old favorite. OH and the super cool part - no more metformin and no more blood pressure medication!

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

A follow up to the glycogen post - After 10 days my scale started to move again. Yay!! Luckily I had measured myself so I was able to check midway my progress and seeing those #s change was reassuring. I'm still stunned at 3/4" coming off my neck. I just find that surreal. Is anyone else having issues with milk? I found that yogurt was making me gassy and then when I made a one egg omlette with milk and cheese I had the most awful cramping where I thought it might be the lady parts but nope. I see my Dr. on Tuesday and until then I'm able to get in my protein without milk products. Tried the Julia Child eggplant pizza recipe last night and if you have room after getting in your protein it was AWESOME to be able to have a meal like everyone else was eating. Chopped up the pepperoni teeny tiny so the flavor was there but not the big rounds. Oddly the cheese and ricotta was ok with me on that....

Alrighty. It's been 4 days without seeing much change on the scale. I've stalked the bulletin boards enough to have read about the mysterious 3 week stall but didn't expect it at 2.... At first I thought it was because things weren't moving through and miralax and prune juice assured me that wasn't the problem. I started looking for more "sciency" reasons other than some magic weight loss elf taking the 3rd week off. This is the best sciency reason I could find. I found this http://bariatricfacts.org/threads/the-three-week-stall.743/ - A nice lady named Diana Cox wrote that: A "stall" at this point is inevitable, and here is why. Our bodies use glycogen for short term energy storage. Glycogen is not very soluble, but it is stored in our muscles for quick energy -- one pound of glycogen requires 4 lbs of Water to keep it soluble, and the average glycogen storage capacity is about 2 lbs. So, when you are not getting in enough food, your body turns first to stored glycogen, which is easy to break down for energy. And when you use up 2 lbs of glycogen, you also lose 8 lbs of water that was used to store it -- voila -- the "easy" 10 lbs that most people lose in the first week of a diet. As you stay in caloric deficit, however, your body starts to realize that this is not a short term problem. You start mobilizing fat from your adipose tissue and burning fat for energy. But your body also realizes that fat can't be used for short bursts of energy -- like, to outrun a sabertooth tiger. So, it starts converting some of the fat into glycogen, and rebuilding the glycogen stores. And as it puts back the 2 lbs of glycogen into the muscle, 8 lbs of water has to be stored with it to keep it soluble. So, even though you might still be LOSING energy content to your body, your weight will not go down or you might even GAIN for a while as you retain water to dissolve the glycogen that is being reformed and stored.

We were quiet yesterday. It's nice seeing how everyone is. Thanks! TMI warning: As we all have screen names so even if we sit side by side at work I will admit this... I stink. Not an unclean stink but the "Amusement Park" and the underarms too - kind of sour/metallic. I've been reading that happens but ugh. Granted it's not somewhere that there's more than one guest and he's equally as in awe with this process and patiently listens. I started packing wet wipes for a midday refresh.

    December 29, 2014 sleevers

Yep, it was the Water where I struggled too. Tomorrow I have a focus. The hour drive in was the worst. Work being able to get up and wander helped. I had my Protein shake and yogurt. Just need to remember to drink. Check up tomorrow. I'm not sharing my surgery with many right now so the "How was your holidays" debrief is awkward. Xmas protein diet & New Years passed out from my meds isn't the light banter. Lots of "Pretty good and quiet"

Is anyone planning on returning to work on Monday? My instructions say I could (I'm an Exec Asst so almost no physical activity) but I'm finding that I need 2 naps a day. I'm trying regular Tylenol today cut it in 1/2 to see if it's the extra good stuff in the liquid meds that not only makes me red and itch but makes me loopy and sleepy. I haven't been able to do things like read or study yet. Still scatter brained.

I want to join the end of Dec 2014 sleevers! I had my surgery 12/30 and came home this am. Did a sub group get formed that I can be added to? 2015 is going to be awesome - this year I know the loose weight resolution is going to happen due to my new tool so I'm not alone!
