CountryGirl5584 reacted to Kindle in scars
I never used anything. I can barely even see my scars. But my uncle swears by coconut oil. He even used it on old scars from a knee surgery several years ago and they faded significantly.

CountryGirl5584 reacted to evanter in What is everyone looking forward to after surgery?
I'm looking forward to being able to easily get on and off a horse. I love horse riding but have been embarrassed to do it because of this issue.

CountryGirl5584 got a reaction from mommyoftwogirls in Completely new to this... can anyone answer my questions?
I would suggest going to multiple information seminars of surgeons in your area. Obtain as much information from them as you can

CountryGirl5584 reacted to slvrsax in Hey professionals (or anyone working full-time)
I'm a year post-op and was concerned re: schedule but it has worked out as long as I think ahead. My commute and workday combined is 12 hours long and I have 2 teenage daughters. Ready to drink (as opposed to powder) shakes seemed to be the most realistic for packing & ease, I take 3 or 4 (still at a year out) and put them in my work fridge on Monday. There are some good go to's when your out and find yourself hungry - items you can find in a convenience store in a pinch when you are a little further out. Lunchmeat, small cans of tuna, cheese sticks, hard boiled eggs, almonds, beef Jerky and even Protein shakes to name a few. I also rely on convenience pre measured items like 100 calorie packs of almonds, Quest bars and babybel light cheese. I keep Quest bars and freeze dried edamame in my desk. I always carry a questbar in my purse. I've been out shopping or on my way to an exercise class, realize I'm hungry and rather than going to the foodcourt I eat my questbar until I can get some "real" food. Your options feel limited initially but six months on and beyond it gets easier. For exercise I keep gym clothes at work when I can't get to my evening dance classes because we have a gym in my office building. Hope this helps.

CountryGirl5584 reacted to Elode in Holy love of measurements!
HI all! Today is exactly 9 Weeks since I had my sleeve surgery. I have read a lot of post on here pre and post surgery about people being so dishearten over the numbers on the scale when they weigh. I told myself back before my surgery that I was NOT going to fall victim to the stinking scale! That hellacious thing has a way of ruining a persons whole day/week. Now I know some people can weigh everyday and whatever number pops up they can live with but I know me, I know my past, and I know how many times that Sucker has knocked the wind out of my sails and made me feel defeated. NOT this time honey! So what I did do with my daughter help (Partly to make sure I couldn't fudge on the numbers later) was measured every part of my body. Today is the first time we got the measuring tape out and revisited those numbers and I have to say I am astonished! These inches I have lost so far, far surpasses the feeling I got from any scale number! People are always asking me for recommendations of what they should do and my advice is to take your measurements because you can almost bet when that scale isn't moving but your following orders your probably still losing inches. I'm a open book so I will share my numbers with you...
Under bust - 3inches
Smallest part of waist -4 inches
Natural waist -6 inches
Buttock, booty, lovely lady lumps -10 inches!!!!! Yes -10 inches!! Crazy!!(Don't fret there's plenty more where that came from)
Upper arm -3inches
Thighs -6 inches (loving this)
Calves-1 1/2 inches.
Such a long way to go but I am so incredibly grateful for my sleeve and the help it has given me to finally be succeeding at something I've wanted for so long! Hey does this count as a NSV?? ( ps: I do weigh myself but only bi-weekly if I feel like it:)

CountryGirl5584 reacted to kellyw74 in You know you lost weight when
When a regular sized bath towel wraps around you WITHOUT any gaps! That has to be the best feeling. I realized this last night when I got out of the shower.
I even wrapped it past the gap about 7 or 8 inches. HOW FREAKING AMAZING!!!
Kelly :) :)

CountryGirl5584 got a reaction from alwaysvegas in EGD questions
I work for a gastroenterologist office. The procedure itself takes 15 minutes. We recommend no driving for 16 hours and you will feel groggy. I, myself had had many of the egds and I've been alone afterwards with no issues, but I guess every dr is different
