  1. I'm booked for 8th December, too. I'll start my two week pre-op diet on the Tuesday you have your appointment. Three Optifast products a day plus unlimited select fruit and veg. Also allowed sugar free jelly, lollies and gum.

    waiting on approval

Are you just slack, or do you have trouble swallowing them? This is something you need to sort out.

25, mom of 2 and sleeving soon

Hello how is everything going for you i am also a mother and was wondering how long did it take for you to go back to your mom life? ???? not long at all I was back picking up toys in about 2 weeks I'm sorry to hear that
  4. I'm watching my weight. I'm really not hungry. I ate before I came. My tummy isn't feeling right. I'm doing a liquid cleanse. I had a huge breakfast/lunch/dinner. I'll just have a drink today. I'm just in the mood for a cup of soup. I'm more a "fuck off and mind your own business" girl, myself.

    Ice cream?

I put heaps of ice and a small amount of water with my protein powder and blend it up. It has the consistency of soft serve, just icier (which I quite like).

    Pre-Op Tests

I just had to get a blood test. The other surgeon in my area asks for a psych appointment so I skipped him, haha.
  7. I'm the same way. I don't look at it as taking a positive step and taking charge of my health, I see it as embarrassment at letting myself get so bad that I had to resort to surgery to try to fix it, like an admission that I'm too weak to stop it myself, (and maybe that any harsh judgement by others is justified). I haven't told anyone except my husband, and I don't plan to. I don't even let people see that I'm dieting. I don't really have many 'feelings' so actually don't really have an issue with this at all - it's just the way I see it. Intellectually I know I'm doing the right thing, medically.

    Toilet Problems

I'm on up and go energise,Yeah this stuff has 18.5g sugar, 17.3g protein. Maybe ask your dietitian for another suggestion - there are plenty of options out there.
  9. You could be entitled to ten years leave and feel zero guilt about taking time off, but the reality is there are just some jobs where extended time off is not an option, or extremely difficult, so I understand where you're coming from. I work from home in a desk job and I'll be trying to get back to it 6 days after surgery. It's just the company director and me, so there's nobody to step into my role if I have time off; I run the office alone.
  10. I might try something like this with cloud bread. Whipped cream cheese sounds interesting - wish we had stuff like that here.

    My daily struggle

I went out for dinner on the weekend and would've drunk about a litre of water with my meal. It'll be hard to get used to not being able to do this.
  12. Meanwhile I'm just sitting here, inhaling carbs... Damn you!

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

First check in - 267lb. Thanks, Steph.
  14. I really like the Optifast products.
  15. My surgeon said I won't have one. But I had some tests done recently (whilst awake) where I needed to have one, and it wasn't a big deal at all.

Eating, Drinking, and Time In Between?

  17. It's my favourite time of day! I can watch movies or browse the internet in peace. I would hide food and get it out when everyone had gone to bed. I would be annoyed if my husband decided to stay up (rarely) - I couldn't wait for him to go to bed so I could just get to the eating part!

    I f*****g love protein shakes!

I quite like them... as a jelly, slushie, mousse or quasi ice-cream.

    December 8th

Excited! I've been waiting ages, too - started process last September, been booked in since February. Can't believe it's nearly here!
  20. I make jellied puddings out of Protein shakes. That is a brilliant idea!! I love this site! Do you adjust the recipe in anyway or just add the protein powder? I have made some just with gelatine added to a shake, and also ones where I played around with the ingredients (adding a different protein powder, a fibre supplement, etc). Here's one I made ages ago: http://wp.me/p5rf4h-3w

I'm sure I've seen a list like this stickied on here somewhere (or an I imagining it?).

    Holiday Weight Loss Challenge!

I'm in. SW 269. GW 247. This is a total guess as the challenge period will include my pre-op diet, and three weeks post-op, and I have no idea what will happen!

    Support group help

When I went to the seminar before my initial surgeon consultation, there were a couple of ladies there who were one year post-op, and they shared their stories with us. It was good to see that this is something 'normal' people do, and succeed at, and if they could do it, I could too (I don't personally know anyone who has had WLS). I remember feeling encouraged by their experiences, and thinking, "That could be me in a couple of years!".

    pre-op diet

I start mine in a couple of weeks, for two weeks. Three protein shake/bar/soup/dessert products a day, plus a limited selection of fruit and veg. I don't think it'll be that bad.
  25. I've only told my husband, and I don't plan on telling anyone else.
