  1. Had surgery yesterday and it went great.  Made sure to do good pain management.   It was worse in my head then it really was.  Home now to heal up.

  2. OK people, what have you done or wish to do after surgery that you haven't done in a while?  Me, I can't wait to run again.  Running is something I enjoyed in the past, however, my knees can't take it right now.

I would love to go horseback riding again!!!! My love for horses has never changed. I was 12YO when I got my Mare Taffy. I rode every day. One way or the other I got up every morning went to the pasture and away we went. We got home just before dark!!! I had her from 12 years old until I had my 2nd child. I was 23YO and at first, I took my 5YO son with me but....I didn't know how to take 2 with me. So I ended up getting rid of her. She was the joy of my life until I had my babies. I still miss her so much, she was there for me so much more than anyone else could or would be. I hope my visions of her last days were resting and grazing on her sweet hay!!! Taffy, I love and miss you so much!!!

  3. 9 months post op and 65 lbs. down. I am happy with this weight, I feel really good here, normalish...

I can no longer "shop" in my own closet. I am in size L strechy pants and size 14 jeans. I still grab the XL/16 when I go shopping, because I'm convinced it's all vanity sizing.

I need to work on treats and social food gatherings. I allow myself too much. I am determined to get to goal over the next few months, so I will be changing my evening snack, and saying no to the Halloween treats that will be in the office over the next few weeks.

Things I am still doing right:

    - Tracking my food...honestly

    - Waiting 1/2 hour after eating, to drink

    - Focusing on protein

    - No chips or white bread in the house

    - 15 min walk during the week

    - Eating out less

  4. Finally caved and bought some BariatricPal stuff from the store to try during my post-op liquid phase. Ended up ordering:

    • BariatricPal Protein Soup - Chicken Bouillon
    • Celebrate Meal Replacement Shakes - Tomato Soup / 5 Single Serve Packs
    • Celebrate Meal Replacement Shakes - Cinnamon Roll / 5 Single Serve Packs
    • BariatricPal Protein Smoothie - Aloha Mango
    • BariatricPal Protein Soup - Broccoli and Cheddar
    • BariatricPal Protein Soup - Cream Of Chicken

Wanted something different sweetness wise for shakes, and have been missing a bit of savory so hopefully these soups/broths are good!

Also have my surgery clearance appointment with my primary doc today after work, so excited! I did my pre-op testing at the hospital last Saturday, and called them on Tuesday morning to make sure that they had sent my results to my primary doc for this appointment. Still crazy to think the surgery is next Friday :)

  5. So I am new to all this.  I live in San Diego.  I have completed my blood work and had my Dr. Approval meeting.  I am now impatiently waiting for the office to call me so that I can schedule my 24 weeks of classes.  The end seems so far away.

  6. Day 2 of my pouch reset.

Not as tough as I thought it would be.... but it still is only 1030am on day 2.  Perhaps this is the calm before the storm when I have to cook my family supper tonight.

Either I am stronger than I thought I was or it really is just easier and better drinking protein juices and water.

  9. Hi, I am three weeks post-op as of yesterday. I'm really looking forward to losing weight but I'm struggling to get my protein shakes in. I actually liked them pre-op but now they just taste funny and as they get warmer while I'm sipping it gets worse.

  10. I'm going to be having WLS ! It's been on my mind for 20 years. I'm really looking forward to this . I've been working really hard on changing my bad habits and finding new ways to cope . It's a struggle but there are other ways . I am having trouble with getting back into exercising because of bad knees and hips . I used to be an avid walker/hiker my whole life but the last few years have been a real pain , and now no more Motrin ! So trying to find my way around that . I have had some very painful reactions with Gout and vitamins and dieting . I am pushing through and searching for solutions .....

  11. Surgery booked!

    Flights booked!

    Yes!

  12. Iam going to Mexico on Nov 1 to have surgery.  I got a million questions going on in my head. I dont know what to bring. Will I be cold? People are saying they get cold. So e people jump up and walk and some people go through living hell.  I think it all boils down to doing what you are told to and not doing thr pre op right.  I am also seeing people that are happy they are my size. God bless each and everyone.  I pray your pre op and post ops go well and your day to day healing gets better.  I know I am kilking myself with a fork.  Heres to all of us being healthy and enjoying life.  There really is more to live than food. ❤️

  13. Week 3 post surgery feeling great and

Day of surgery 301 pounds......as off today  273 pounds

    lost 28 pounds.....yippee!!!!!

  14. Today I have been throwing up all my food. This has been the only day this has happened. It feels like it doesn't go down feels like food gets lodged in my chest. Has anyone experienced this? How worried should I be?

If it doesn't quit you might tell your Surgeon about it. Might be a Stricture. Easy fix. Don't wait too long, we can get dehydrated really fast. Sorry, this is happening. Take care of you!!

  15. I go in for my labs and EKG tomorrow. Should all go as planned, which I suspect it will, I'll be meeting with the nurse next week to discuss surgery dates. Started the journey 08/02/17 and hoping to get an early to Mid November surgery date for VSG.

  16. I finally gave Premier Protein shakes a chance. I picked a 4 pack of chocolate (I'm a chocolate kinda gal)

i might be the only person to think this, but those things are terrible! They're thick and gritty, no wonder people have such a hard time with the pre/post op liquid diets. Now, I'm cheap, and they were expensive, so I did pour them into my morning coffees until they were gone. Long story short-Blech🤢That is all. :)

You, my friend, are not alone!!! I had to do 2 weeks of Protein preop and 4 weeks of Postop and they were the easiest drink to find. But I didn't like them at all!!! I also had severe "Back Door Trots with them" after all was said and done I talked to my PA about my serious trots and he said you are more than likely Lactose Intolerant!!! Thank you so much 6 weeks of wearing GIGANTO PADS sometimes double if I had to go anywhere. That could not have happened!!! THANKS for nothing!! LOL I now have GENEPRO unflavored that I add to my Espresso every day. If only!!!!

  17. Yesterday was my day!  After 10 months and 14 days, I can  now officially say I am 100 pounds down.  Forty more to go before I consider plastics.

  18. I had my two week post op today.  I'm down about 14 pounds.

  19. Had my two week post-op today. I can start soft foods and according to their scale, I'm down 16 lbs. :)

  20. Took an hour to get through a half cup of cottage cheese, but it went down nice and easy!  So happy to be continuing to make progress toward a happier healthier me!

  21. Got permission to move on to phase II (puree and soft foods) a couple days early!  Sunday I get to try cottage cheese and the like.  :)

  22. Has aNY one put something in their mouth just to get the taste off of it anD accidentally swallowed it? I did and now I'm sacred to death! I'm 9 days out from my gastric sleeve surgery.

  23. I think my last update was early July and I was stuck on a long plateau.  Well since then things have been interesting.  I spent a week in the hospital with an acute Pancreatitis attack, followed by something going horribly wrong with my chemistry causing my ankle to balloon (it was not gout).  I have been on steroids for the last week and in a huge walking boot.  Makes work very very difficult.  That being said - the plateau broke - and I am down to 259 - nine pounds from goal 1....  What a rollercoaster ride it has been.

That stuff is horrible!! I have had it like 4 times. Do you know what treatment they have? NOT a darn thing!! I was told that if I wanted to be admitted for it I could go on a clear diet and ride it out. Plus pain management. That is it. The last time I stayed home and went on clear liquids. It worked but...as you know it is o painful!!!
