    Recovery Update

You know I was talking about my hubby's ordeal and almost the same thing happened to him. His Dr used his scissors to open up his abcess. NO anesthetic at all also. He hardly smiled at all but that day he was smiling as he did it. His nurse came back with the Lidocaine and was saying she had it but he didn't pay her no mind. I can not belive how uncaring they can be. t was a very long process and I hope your Dr keeps on yours unti it is healed. We had to find a Surgon to finally get him well. It took over 9 months fr it but we so appreciate our PCP for finally helping us out by calling his friend and convincing him to do the surgery to put the wound vac in. The Dr that did his failed surgery was such a uncaring person and I hoe he gets his somewhere down the line. He lost us as his patients and word of mouth goes a long way to smear his reputation. Keep up the good fight!! I wish you all the best of luck!!

    Recovery Update

WOW!!! I am so glad you are getting this taken care of. My hubby also went thru that stuff. He had 5 different strains of infection. He was so sick!! It actully lasted 9 months. His Surgeon kept messing around!! Finally, our PCP called a Dr. here in town and he finally put a Wound Vac in which should of happened way back to the beginning. He almost died from it. It took him down so slow we didn't think he would ever get well!! Keep on top of this please. Listen to your body and never feel like you are a burden. These Dr need to be held accountable. I am so sorry that this has happened to you. Keep on keeping on!!

Jess9305, this has been going on forever. Please don't think I was trying to get an argument going. I don't care to hash this over anymore. I will continue to use it in my daily LATTE, if you don't want to use it Fine. Most of the new WLS peeps will ask their team about it. Mine had no problem with it. So far I have been ok with using it. If was going to go down hill wouldn't yu think 5 years would show somethimg? I am done. I won't be baited into this again. Thank you very much. To all of you NEWBY'S please check with your team before using it just in case you wold need to go somewhere else to get enough protein in. Have a great rest of your weekend.

    VA Health Care System

Actually, he was in the VIETNAM war. This is so sad guys put their lives on hold fight for their country and get handed a rash of S***!! So sorry for what your hubby has to face. Only 1 thing out of all his health failures is counted! If my hubby's Cancer would have been aggresive he would have passed away much sooner than the 5 years!! I hope all is getting better for you and yours.

    VA Health Care System

Gosh, let me tell you what the VA did to my hubby. For 5 years they kept telling my hubby was fine and didnt have cancer on his kidne. Well, he did and he finally got a few gahonnas with me there looking at him to push forward unless he wanted me to step up!! Finally, we went to a URolgist local he stated he want him to go to a Specialest in Eugene. (we live in Oregon) Come to find out he had full blown cancer in his kidney!! So the VA in Portland realized it was a BULL S*** thing and they did the eblasion and thought they got it all!! THOUGHT!!NOT but they seem not to concerned with what is left on his kidney, now he has something on his liver and something on the other kidney. I have almost come to my end with these duffist DR. I tld my hubby they were not concerned for 5 years and look were this has put you. The only thing is I have Champ VA for the rest of my life. Even the Adovate said that we should sue the Goverment for all of this...but do u think we can find a Lawyer to take the case!! HHMM I can't believe how all of this has come down the pike. I am going to insist he makes a trip to Portland, which is a 4 hour trip but they are scaring me! Sorry I just need to vent I guess. Good luck for your WLS. Thank you for listening as if you have a choice right. LOL
  9. I can say that I struggled forever to lose my weight like I know for sure everyone does have their own demons to conquer but with WLS you become the "in CHARGE WOMAN" as long as you put the effort in you will be fine. To answer your questions I by no means had myself in control! But WLS helps to make you strong!! You will lose your weight quickly at first and you have what they call "THE HONEYMOON" time that you WILL lose weight. For me I was so afraid that if I didn't do the preop diet he would just cancel my surgery. Postop I was so scared to eat because I didn't want to hurt myself. So if you are commited and are ready for one crazy ride. CRAZY yes but oh so worth it. Life is to short to keep beating yourself up. You will find tWHAT YOU are really made of!! Hang tight and please let me know if there is anything that I can do. One thing I forgot to say, your taste will change so much, I eat the same thing until I can't stand it. I have my little food rituals as I call them. LOL And one thing that has helped me is..while I went thru everythng getting ready my Suregon and Nutrtionist both told me (now not all will be on board about this) they told me "THERE ARE NO FORBIDDEN FOODS!!! Just learn to eat in MODRATION!! For myself I didn't try rice or bread until I was 4 years out. So you will learn what works for you. Not everything is the same as everyone else.
  10. Exactly!! Change is hard for anyone but...if you put your whole into something you can and will get there. The WLS did make me do it..You don't have much to say there. But as time moves on you will be able to eat more, and then YOU have to start making the right decsions of what to eat. I am by no means perfect and I do feel good about what I have done. Every day you will make the decisions to continue. As you have heard from many this is a TOOL, but we do the work. GRAB on and do yourself!!! Make the choices it will take. Good Luck and you are not alone in how you feel about yourself we all have pretty much the same thoughts. Keep coming here and take what you need from here and leave what you don't need!!
  11. Well, I know you need work but...looks like to me that you have the ability to go forward. Like I said your mind is thinking straight because you came to get help and not just jumping into it. Like myself I was always what I cal B***S to the wall or nothing. This has been a part of me forever. Like so many on hear I had TRIED everything I was very successful losing the weight but no way could maintain it for long. Up untl I decided that I WAS DONE!! The 1st Dr I seen treated me like I was stupid and lied about my not smoking for 8 yrars, he then told me that he would do a nicotine test and because I had Psoriases he would only do a Lap Band. My hubby had his for 13 yars and lost 100#'s then it malfunctioned thats another story. LOL So when I went to an Bariatric surgeon for his band removal. They told me that they could do the RNY. Which I felt that had one chance left!! I took it. I figured that I needed to go big or go home. I had my surgery and lost 134#'s but went really lower than even my team wanted. I did develope an ADVERSION to food due to having strictures and having 5 endoscopes wtih 4 dialations, starting 3 months after my surgery and went until Jan 2015. Al is great now. Besides my stress making me want to eat more than I should. But I have been very lucky that my mind has changed along with my weight loss. It is NOT the cure all for sure and it takes hard work with commitment to do it. I think due to my hard time begining after surgery has been my saving grace plus exercise. For the entire time since my WLS up to the last couple months I exercised at first 6 days a week until I became physically sick if I missed one day. But now I am having a hard time getting back at it. I KNOW I have it in me to continue my journey. I hope this helps and I want to say that support is almost a have to in this. Sorry I wrote a book. LOL Take care and KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

My PCP just adds the extra tests then faxes them to my Bariatric Dr. I guess I better look back in my game plan. I have my Blood work per my PCP. To keep an eye on my Blood Sugars She has to have it done every 6 month which is a REAL Pain in my B***. I'm off to get my notebook checking it out. Have a great day

I have had this Blood work list since my RNY. Is there diffferent bloodwork for the futher out you get?
  18. shedo82773

    Genepro

Interesting. But...my Dr has a list of blood work he need to see. I'm not sure if it is a standard list or not. I will post mine to see if every Dr's is the same or not. Here it is, I am curious to see the compared results. Hemogram, CMP, Vit D (25Hydroy) ThiaminB1 (whole) Ferritin Level Pt H, Folate Are these pretty standard. Please post so I can compare them

CarrieB when I ask the same thing about this site selling it I got the same run around was told it is the $$ thing!! I also think that people are actually guessing on the other products about how much protien they are actually getting. So as I stated it is a win win for me and my coffee Latte's. If it was as bad as everyone says the FDA has sure been notifed and they would not allow them to sell this stating it has 30 grams of protein. BTW every other protein I tried did NOT dissolve or had a nasty taste to it. This is by far the best one I have found and just to clear up this I have tried so many different proteins in the last 5 years I would hate to add up the $$ I have spent on them. I say if it works then use it. Keep up on your blood work and if something isn't right then take a look at what you are doing. Good luck. BTW I knew this was going to happen, it has been brought up before. I will use GENEPRO until my Surgeon tells me different!!

    Alcohol

I defintly get high easier. Before my RNY I could drink 12 beers before I felt tipsy. I don't drink beer at all now (sad because it was my drink of choice) I have never cared for wine untl last summer we went to a family reunion (camping etc) I had 2 glasses of wine and I was above buzzed. It hit me fast and hard!! They say if you do drink make sure you are with people you trust, believe me please do. I also lost my buzz quick too. I have never been on to drink hardly at all. When we went thru my preop classes they told us to be real careful due to cross addictions. My hubby was rootin for me to get obsessive about sex!! NOPE!! He was kind of sad when I became obsessive about exercise. I have always been someone that didn't have a 1/2 way about me. I either was what I call B***s to the wall or nothing. One thing I have worked on vefry hard was to realize 1/2 way is ok. Not easy for me at all.

    Genepro

I use GENEPRO and have been using it for awhile (like 3 years or so) I have no problems with my Protein levels and as you see I am almost 5 years out. If I didn't use my protein stuff I would never reach my 65 or so protein level. My blood work has all been great. For myself it works and I will continue using it. Love my GENEPRO Latte every day. I guess everyone has to do what ever it takes as long as they meet their quota of protein levels. Good Luck and there is quite the conversations on this product. It is a WIN WIN for me.
