I agree stay off the scale, your body is doing it's own thing during your cycle any way. You are young. Just keep doing the right things and weigh yourself once a week and allow Water weight gain during your cycle.

Three weeks is soon IMHO. I would not have been ready. I was a dry red wine drinker before but found that after surgery it just doesn't typically sit well. White is better now if I do wine, or even a cocktail made without soda. I do find that alcohol will put weight on me faster than ANYTHING else. Even 1 drink per night with calories worked into my day can derail my progress. I'm in maintenance now for the last year. If I dial it back to just weekends and watch the quantity, I can maintain\lose a little to stay in my zone relatively easily. I echo what others have said about the empty calories. If you want to maximize your WLS honeymoon period, try and leave it alone as long as possible!

@ kimmiethomason1, Don't make the mistake I did. I wish My doctor would have told me to wait 6 months but instead he said 6 weeks. Since I have started drinking the wine my weight is not falling off. At a point now where I have to limit to once per week, or every other week. NOT 3 times per week as I do now.
Sad I started drinking ..empty calories, adding sugar & carbs not losing weight!!!! i'm 5 mo out. If you can wait hold out as LONG as possible.

Alcohol is fine and won't hurt you but they are very high in calories. A bit occasionally is fine but u will it lose weight and will gain weight with too much alcohol. One margarita can have as much as 800 calories. That's a daily intake for most. So keep that in mind

Losing is up to you but if your drinking wine every day then you should expect slow weight loss because wine is empty calories. Add up all the calories you drank from wine and divide by 3500 and that will give you how many more pounds you could've lost.

There is nothing more dangerous from a WLS perspecrive than drinking empty calories. Lay off the wine. Only drink it occasionally or for special occasions. Work on getting your Protein and veggies instead.
45 pounds is fine for 6 months, but if you want to speed things up you know what you need to do. I suggest you take full advantage of this honeymoon period of weight loss before it's over. We all only have such a relatively small window of time where we have so much restriction and reduced hunger, it's a shame to piss it away with poor choices.

Not enough Protein, too much wine/ empty calories, and probably not enough Water (see wine) is probably the answer to your "relatively" slow weight loss.
If you aren't happy with your progress, why not go back to basics and make an appointment with your NUT?

I would cut out the wine for a week or 2 and see what happens.

Prior to surgery i didn't have periods so this had been new to me but yes... I'm craving carbs, any carbs, in a big way. It really sucks. And I'm nauseous. Not fun. But i haven't given in to bad. I still count my calories. The dang Water gain and bloating is about to drive me crazy!

I don't crave anything specific, I just crave ANYTHING. I get very "snacky". I never noticed the snack attacks before surgery and I guess because I didn't try to refrain. Now that I am strict with my eating, I notice how badly I want to snack a few days before I start.

I no longer have that "time of the month" lol but I gave into cravings a couple of times and then lost interest in those foods. I have found that the Atkins chocolates and Russell Stover Sugar Free Chocolate satisfies my chocolate craving. I have 2 every day at work

Also had surgery in December. I still get cravings when I am on my period. My period has been out of whack ever since having surgery though, so it seems like I have to deal with this every other day. NOT FUN! I don't think that craving sweets on your period has anything to do with ghrelin though. Maybe have some Atkins bars or other protein-type Snacks around that will help during those times?

Oh yes, I know about that. I had the worst hunger pains. I still get them sometimes. I found that it was more of an acid reflux problem than anything. I started taking prilosec and it has dissapated drastically. Hang in there. it does get better. I am on my 5th week now and let me say, I am over the moon with my progress. I am so happy to be off the liquids and eating again. Once you start to eat food again you will start feeling better. I can still only eat 3 oz at a time. Thats a whole other issue cause it is mental...lol

I was sleeved on 12/23 and am down 32 lbs. I'm having trouble lately with excessive air in my stomach! Not sure if its gas or what.... but it interferes with my eating and drinking because it makes me feel full, when indeed i'm not. I can rarely ever do 4oz. at a sitting.
It's getting annoying can anyone help with this?

Anyone have this problem. I get full eating but after an hour or so, my stomach growls and I feel hungry. I don't eat but I was sleeved on 12/11 and have had no issues this now. I know it is not head hunger because I can ignore that, but it feels like hunger physically, like I have a hole in my stomach and it is never satisfied.

OMG! and I thought I was the only one who sweats all the time! smh.. that is the FIRST thing I cannot wait to stop doing. It is so embarrassing to be so cute and cant look anyone in the store or anywhere else in face cuz i'm sweating profusely!!!!! ugh.
Airplane seat second... YES! I travel alot and i try to have friends or family fly with me so we can sit together so i wont be so embarrassed by asking for an extend-a-belt and the worries of offending others... how many pounds do i need to lose for that to happen? 100?? Lol whatever it is I can't wait!
FEET.. ok this may sound weird but did anyone's feet get smaller too? Past 6 years my feet have widened and makes it hard for shoes and cannot fit in old shoes.. now I have to wear 1/2 size larger and a wide width instead of medium. Please tell me this will change too!
I'm so ready to see "my" face again.. Lol I dont know the strange face that has taken control of me... :-)

aclinton16 reacted to kelpimarie in Serious question, is eating bad sometimes good?
What you eat today and what activity you do today will not reflect today...it doesn't work like that. When you lose you are seeing anywhere from a month or two back, so when you hit your stall think about what you were eating and doing 4-6 weeks ago. The junk your eating will reflect later, and in the same note don't get frustrated when you go to the gym for a week and work your ass off, you'll see that result in a few weeks.

Ok a lil humor but have to know if anyone who has recently had the surgery are home thinking " hmmm, I'm still fat, but I KNOW I had the surgery" LMAO I.e. just waiting for the magic from the hard work to show? I'm 9 days post op and refuse to get on a scale. I don't intend on becoming obsessive with a scale. I just want to focus on doing this properly and see results. With that being said can't wait for 90 days out to see progress. Please share what u have been thinking.

You've said a lot of things I absolutely agree with and a few things I think are rather unfair.
Yes, 1000000% YES. Dieting is easy. Losing weight is pretty easy. Losing weight when you have a personal trainer, a chef, a nutritionist that does everything for you should be a breeze. Keeping it off after is where the challenge begins, at least for me.
The above is so unfair to me. I know I personally was unhappy fat, but I do think some people really are. How in the world can anyone assume to know how everyone else truly feels? I think many/most people of all sizes have self doubts about their body from time to time but I can't say for sure whether or not they are truly happy.
As far as chubby chasers? Of course they are attracted to a bigger body, isn't initial attraction how most of us first find our mates? The initial spark is often based on physical attraction, whether it be a nice smile, beautiful eyes, a great body, a cute butt... That doesn't make us all shallow or objectifiers. That physical attraction can only take a relationship so far. Eventually we wade through enough cute smiles, nice butts, beautiful eyes to find someone we love on the inside, too. At least the lucky ones do.

Since losing 107 pounds I have had to move the drivers seat in my car way up- I am short. Every time I go to get in my car I wonder if I am going to fit. Another incident happened the other day, a coworker was telling their weight and said they weighed 175. I was thinking wow she looks good I can't wait until I get to that number- then it hit me that I weigh 164. It's these small things that make us grateful. Our minds will eventually catch up to our bodies
