  1. I'm 6 days post-op and tonight after "dinner", I immediately started feeling some nausea. This is the first time I've experienced it since I got home from the hospital and I don't want to deal with the pain of vomiting, so I took a Zofran and hoping that the nausea dissipates. Is there anything that would cause this a little bit later in the recovery process? Is it possible I ate too fast?
  2. I got home at around 6:30 pm yesterday from the hospital and it's been getting better. I've been getting up and walking around my house, but it's been a little rough because they sent home with a Foley catheter since I wasn't able to pee . I do get some pain when I swallow, but I'm staying fairly hydrated. I made a Protein shake that tastes like Reese's cup and has 39 grams of protein (low sugar too) but I'm still super worried that I won't be able to pee when they take this catheter out. Has anyone else experienced postoperative urinary retention?

I cant stop thinkng about it.

I'm the same! I just want to get this done and start losing the weight already. All I've done is show up to the free seminar and give them my info to schedule an appointment with the nurse practitioner. I also have the 6 months (boo!) but they said that visiting the NP regularly counts for that. So I've got quite a while and in the meantime I'm just going to try losing weight the old-fashioned way .

    Calling all 20 somethings!

I'm 25 and considering getting sleeved- I just started the process and right now my only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. I also have PCOS and am really excited to get the ball rolling on this!

    Considering the gastric sleeve!

Thanks! And I am- I'm getting an endoscopy soon to determine if it is GERD and if it will be relieved by losing weight.
  6. So I've been thinking about getting WLS for some time and exploring my options. Right now I'm working with the idea that the gastric sleeve is the best option for me. My BMI is definitely over 40, I have high blood pressure and GERD, so I don't doubt that I'll be approved. I'm not sure about the physician supervised history of diets since my doctors have basically just said "eat less and move more" since I was about 8 years old (yes, I have been trying to lose weight since I was 8 years old). Is that a hurdle or is it something a doctor will typically sign off on even if I haven't done Medifast or Jenny Craig or something? I also have a past history of an eating disorder, but I'm seeing a nutritional therapist and psychiatrist to manage it. I'm worried that will disqualify me but hopefully the fact that I am not relapsing and am in treatment will work in my favor. I'm going to the seminar at OHSU this evening and I'm really excited but slightly nervous. I'm ready to make a change in my life and I don't expect the surgery to magically fix everything. The surgery is just going to be one tool in my arsenal against my weight. I look forward to speaking with everyone here!
