  1. I am 53 years old and had the sleeve done 22 months ago. i could not be happier,,,,i wont pull your leg at all its a real life style change . there are days i think wow, but I consider it the best thing I have ever done for me. I would recommend it....BUT.....I would not go to mexico to have it done, a sleeve frienf of mine went to mexico and was VERY sorry she went there. they dont have a clue about what they are doing. she came back to the states and within 24 hours had to go back into surgery for a leak and ended up havinng to have the gastric bypass,,,she nearly died. Please reconsider Mexico!!!
  2. its been awhile since ive been in here. On sept 17 2014 i had my sleeve done. Best thing I e ever done for me. I have lost 110 lbs. I am 13 months post op. i am doing wonderful. I have had some real strange mind things going on. Like I know i have lost the weight but its like my brain hasnt caught up. any body else have these feelings. on october 22 2015, just 3 weeks ago i had my excess skin removed on my belly. and yep it made the thoughts even worse. ....need a little help here.....I still think its the best thing but its just kinda weird. maybe it was because it was so fast. I have also suffered some eating disorder stuff.I am currently seeing a counselor for that. she seems to believe because im a perfectionist that its an obsession with the food. has anyone else had these issues. i do have that this all comes and goes depending on the day. any thoughts support welcomed. Im doing this alone. no one in my family supported me on this idea at all. thanks

    Update!

Well! Im excited . Really excited!!!!! I had my surgery on September 17 2014 and I feel wonderful. I have lost 57 pounds and the losing continues. I hit a stall but it didnt last long. During Christmas I needed to buy new clothes. I went from a size 3x to a 16 petite. Its so rewarding to see my own body transform to something so healthy. Its amazing!!!! I hope this encourages newbies . Its the best thing I have done for me. This has been an amazing journey and mine has barely gotten started. Happy New Year to All!
  4. I would do meal planning. That has helped me keep on track. I live alone and having only enough for one days portions available in the fridge helped me alot. I eat my Protein first and I always get to full to eat the others. Remember the cardinal rule,,,,,dont drink or eat 30 minutes before your meal , no drinks during your meal, no drinking 30 to 60 minutes after. Are you chewing your food well and taking at least 30 minutes to eat. Good luck! keep us posted.
  5. Yeah! Got mine a week or so ago. I stayed 4 days and mine was $72,563.84 the insurance paid all but a $9.00 copay. Thank You Jesus!
  6. go for it the nutri bullet is awesome. you will use it but,,,,,,my advice look around there are many brands out there that are cheaper priced and do the same thing.
  7. I guess I would be concerned about using laxative of any sort. I used warm ginger tea for nausea. I have never taken the meds for nausea cuz the tea always worked. I guess because my surgery is still very new. I can eat that much. I feel to uncomfortable.
  8. I posted my story, but where is the little scale for the weight lose. I dont think I did that
  9. Hello! My name is Debbie and im 51 years old. I have always had a weight problem. In December 2013, I had enough when I couldnt fit thru the gate at ball game. It was so embarrasing, I had to be escorted to another entrance. I cryed. I decide this was never going to happen again. I made an appt with the surgeon. January 2014 I saw Dr. Ali in Erie Pa . Hes absolutely wonderful, so compassionate. After 6 months of diet docs and many appts, with weight gains and losses and excitment and disappointment , I finally arrived at my surgery date. On September 17, 2014 I had sleeve surgery. This is by far the best thing I have ever done for me. Yes! I said for me. I have 4 grown children which I might add,,,only 2 really supported me. The other 2 where very skeptical. You see I also have 6 wonderful grandchildren whom I wanted to see grow up, have their own children and enjoy life. When I embarked on this journey I had diabetes, high blood pressure, depression and thyroid dosease and sleep apnea, high chlosterol and I have already at 51 had a heart stent. I was scared. When this journey to a new me I weighed 205 pounds , at surgery time I weighed 191, Today I weigh 156 and it just keeps comimg off. I went from a 3x size clothes to now a 16. I have never worn real jeans, the ones that zip. I now can. I feel strong and well. Since surgery the diabetes, is gone ,high blood pressure is gone, thyroid diesease (mimimal meds), the sleep apnea is much better, the chlosterol is normal and the cardiologist says he doesnt need to see me unless I have an issue. I can walk up stairs now. I have energy enough now to sometimes tire out my babies. I have had no issues. I think it is because I have been exacting about all the diet phases and really take my time and really heard what my body now says to me. I have only had pain, one time, when I ate way to fast and WOW! did that ever hurt. It felt like the worst huge bubble. Believe me lesson learned. I would reccommend this surgery, but I seriously feel that this choice has to purely be for the patient. Like dont do it for someone else. There are definetly, life changing, life style habits that must be followed thru. Thank You Jesus! for my success. God Bless to all, and good luck to anyone whos future is WLS.
