Hey! I'm australian, looking to get sleeved early November, like you waiting for my insurance waiting period to be over. I met with my surgeon early November last year and am booked to see him early September to start all the pre-op testing and hopefully book in a date for surgery. From my experience, the wait will drag by for the first couple of months, and then out of nowhere, you've only got a couple of months to go. I tell everyone, and if they don't like it they can go suck it, I'm doing it for me not them. That being said I have only had overwhelming support from people I've told.
It's up to you who you tell and if you tell people, there is no right answer, it is a very personal thing so it is completely understandable to not want to tell people.
Like other people said, if you are not wanting it to become public knowledge, be very careful with who you tell, you can't untell people

I started at about 250lbs give or take and 5ft7.
I didn't wear jeans as I couldn't stomach the thought of buying 18-20 ' s or bigger. I couldn't get 15 ' s up over my mid thighs. I was wearing 2x+ in shirts.
Now, 8.5 months later here I am.. fitting comfortably in size 5 jeans.. and large shirts (could go down a size in shirts but a bit top heavy). It doesn't seem real! I am 90 lbs down, too!
What I've noticed besides my scale obsession, smaller jeans, etc.. my energy is through the roof, my back doesn't hurt nearly as often and the looks! I've noticed when I walk by people stop and stare. Literally. It makes me uncomfortable but then I remind myself it's not because I'm so big! It's a good thing. I guess. Haha!
But on a side note.. I finally went and got my belly button pierced. Whoa! That was SO nerve wracking let me tell you!
What are some crazy things have you experienced?!

Four weeks out, I can honestly say no regret ever. Even when just waking up and laying in my hospital bed, I haven't regretted it at all. I admit that I was lucky and had a very smooth recovery with no bumps whatsoever

This is good advice, I found that I didn't need anything between the seatbelt, but everyone is different

I was 418lb, after 8 weeks (4 weeks of Optifast and currently 4 weeks post op) I've lost 57lb. I had the sleeve

Get up out of bed as soon as they will let you, walk as much as possible around the hospital, it will help with the gas pain so much

I had my sleeve on 20 November, it's still early days but I can notice some slimming in my face already, and my feet, they aren't puffy balloons anymore!

No, surgery was around 2pm, nausea and pain are not too bad, I'm just mostly uncomfortable

Glad to hear you are through. Was your surgery this morning? How is your pain and nausea?

I'm home and have had a couple of 'up and go energize' drinks, Soup, tea and Water today. Still sore and very bruised but feeling pretty good otherwise.

Just a quick update...I feel pretty good...could be the drugs...a bit burpy!

One more sleep...just had my last meal (shake)...chat to you on the flip side.

I thought so.

Using your super is a great option, especially if you don't want to or can't wait to be covered. December 5th is only 2 weeks after me, it'll fly by in no time. It's great that you and your husband are doing this together, it will be such a great support for each other. Good luck to you both
