  4. I had the sleeve 2 years ago and only lost 25lbs after changing my eating, hiring a trainer, water, & giving it my all. Since I was having the acid reflux I went to a new surgeon and asked him about a revision. He did the egd (barium swallow ). He told me today my sleeve was extra wide and could understand why I never felt restriction because I didn't have any. I feel like I got screwed but I also feel like I am vindicated.
  5. I am going through the steps now for the revision. I to have reflux real bad. I had it before the sleeve and now it is unbearable. One thing I didn't know about before having it in 2012. The surgeon is doing a barium swallow on Thursday to see how much damage is done. I always thought I was alone. Good to know it's not in my head. Lol

    Sleeve to Bypass, Anyone?

Finally I am not alone. How are you feeling ? I am hoping for the same revision. I am having reflux issues. Doing the hoops right now. Them up to insurance if they say no I can't afford the self pay.
  8. I'm unsure where to begin. I had the Lapband back in 2008 and had nothing but health issues from day one. I had 2 surgeries then the third was the removal. I initially lost around 40 lbs but once it was gone the weight came back. The next step was the sleeve 3/2012. I lost 10lbs before the surgery and 25lbs after. I worked so hard ate right but had no restriction, hired a personal trainer, walked, did it all. 25lbs is all I lost. I gave up and have now gained it all back plus a few (5lbs). After long consideration I am considering a revision. I spoke to my surgeon (who all along wanted me to do the bypass) he said he put in the largest bougie and maybe it was to large for my stomach. He is no longer in my state so I will be meeting with a new surgeon in the next week. I'm so afraid of being a 3 time non loser. I have seen a shrink, considered hypnosis, Ate less in the process of going gluten free. I can't fail again. Please no negative posts. I am doing my best.
  9. I have had my lap band 1 year as of the 30th of July... At the beginning I was doing ok after so health issues... then they had to move the port as it was wearing on my skin and tearing from the inside. Since the move I haven't had a fill... Did I need one yes.. But I am scared I have been stuck before and my doctor travels in to do this only once a month... I have gained all my weight back except 10 lbs... I guess I have broken my spirit because I have been doing nothing except talking myself out of the appointment tomorrow... Please help
  10. I have an appointment tomorrow for the lap band orientation. They have already called me and confirmed that my insurance(if approved) will pay 90%. But I don't know where to begin... What if I don't like the surgeon, I didn't go through my regular doctor because I work with them and they believe in the good old fashion weight loss program.. (Tried and failed.) Is there anyone here from Bakersfield, California area.. This group of doctors also work in the Beverly Hills area. Just looking to see if anyone has any information.. I wonder if this is really going to happen...:rolleyes2:
  11. My comment is this.. Make sure that you are completely right in your mind set. I thought I was, My husband DID NOT want me to have the surgery but he said that I could do what I wanted and he would support me. I've had a rough time with all this, finally losing again, however sometimes I wish I would have listened to him and just waited and thought about it a little longer...

    on a downward spiral

A few months back I had to have my port moved. Ever since then I can't find it in myself to get a fill.. I went once but I had a sinus infection after the fill I had them take it back out.. With my head so tight I couldn't stand the feeling of being tight all over... ( I had a terrible time at the beginning with my band). I don't know if I am scared or what... I know that in all my years I have never ate candy bars except on rare occasions now I can't make it through the day.. I have put on around 5 lbs of what I have lost, I have lost my motivation. My husband doesn't do much, he has hip problems so he won't (cant ) walk with me.. I just don't know what to do... Please don't yell at me I just need some support. I just moved to a different part of town so I don't really know anyone... and recently a job change. I guess I have great excuses... Just wish I had a buddy to walk with and go through this with...:scared2:

    Chromium Picolinate???

So I go in for a fill on Saturday and my Doc. is a little irritated at me. (not that I am not irritated at myself.) He said you only lost 1lb. I said no I lost 7lbs and gained 6lbs back... I told him like I told him before that I have had this unusual craving for sweets and BBQ chips.. His answer has always been "just don't eat them"... I explained to him its like needing a cig. (I guess never smoked) but this desire is bad.. Finally he says to try this vitamin called Chromium Picolinate, He says that it helps curve the desire for chocolate or sweets in general. I never in my life have been a big chocolate fan.. I have been the skittles gal but haven't had a desire for those since my surgery.. Has anyone used the vitamin? What are your thoughts about it? Oh by the way left with a 0.08 fill but returned 2 hours later since I couldn't hold down water he took back out 0.06. I have this horrible cold he said that the fill may not be enough once the cold is gone, but for now it has to be..:w00t:

    Confession...

I oh so know the feeling... Good luck at tossing... I need to toss out my husband who buys all the yummy stuff...
  16. Ok... I know that line sounds really harsh.. But it seems that all I want to eat right now is BBQ Chips and Hershey's chocolate. The funny thing is I NEVER at this before I had the surgery. Once I had wls I have craved BBQ chips more than anything. I even have talked to my doctor about it. But then Christmas came along and I tasted some chocolate and the flood gates opened. Yesterday I decided that this has to stop, but then last night came and the BBQ chips had to be found. I swear its worse than being pregnant. Please don't go off on me, I know I shouldn't do it. And criticizing me isn't going to help. I just wanted to put it down in writing so it will set in to my conscience that this has to STOP:cursing: . So say a prayer for me... Believe it or not I haven't gained but it sure isn't helping me lose... Thank for listening...

How to overcome soda pop addiction?

I gave up soda about 2 years ago. I was drinking diet and having joint pain and someone told me that it was the sweetner in the diet drink... Yeah well I believed them and woke up and gave it up... I continued to drink tea with real sugar and started slowing going with out the sugar. When I had the lapband tea tasted different.. so I gave it up all together... Now I drink diet Hawaiian Punch... The sweetener wasn't the problem it was my weight... Now if I could only do that with food...LOL... Start slow... I too get migranes... but the excedrin migrane works the same as extra strength excedrin with a coke... But since I have cut all the caffine the headaches are fewer and weaker... Good luck

    straw???

I think it comes down to the surgeons personal opinion. I asked him about drinking with a straw he said " Jill if drinking with a straw gets the water down then drink with a straw" He said that he never heard of side effects of drinking with a straw. I get so much more water in now. I don't even realize when I have drank 32 ounces...

    Anthem Blue Cross PPO California?

When you dr is out of network Anthem pays considerably less than what an in network dr will get.. Also if they charge more than an in network dr you will be responsible for the difference. I have to say that I have blue cross anthem ppo and though very shocked they paid everything except 300.00 which was the upfront fee for the dr. My fills are included with the cost of the surgery. I hope this helps
