Thanks I'm a slower 'loser' I'm down 45lbs overall. I'm happy with that though because I'm hoping I won't have as much saggy skin if I lose at a moderate pace. Good luck with your surgery.

Me too. Doctors gave me Colaces which help. Water taste like metal. But I put pineapples or frozen fruit. Just keep sipping. Protein helps the healing

I have not started a routine workout schedule yet...I know I know I really need too. However, I have VERY Active 4 and a 5 yr old that I constantly run around with, so while not structured I try to get in at least 10,000 steps a day if possible. I need to get more strength training in for sure as my arms are getting small, it's so fun to see myself as a small person now!!
On another note, My daughter (5 yr old) was hospitalized over the weekend. she had pneumonia, enterovirus and parainfluenza by the end of it all, she was in bad shape...I decided that after this surgery I am the IDEAL person to stay with someone in the hospital I rarely eat a lot (so I didn't eat in front of her) I didn't drink a whole lot (not good but I wasn' tleaving her side) and I don't use the restroom a lot, so I was able to stay by her side constantly!! I am very happy to say that she is doing great now, and I am down 113 lbs! Woo hoo!! come on Thanksgiving I have so much to be thankful for this year!! Thank you for all of the support! 7 lbs away from ONE-derland!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I had my surgery 11/17/14. I feel much better today than the day after surgery. I'm excited about my upcoming weight loss. In my mind I don't feel like I will lose the weight. But stories like these are so help. My nurse gave me money because I didn't have enough for my post op medicine because the Drs added additional meds. Wonderful Angels. ????

@@beachgurl84 I had surgery on Wednesday the 19th as well and I'm so sorry to hear that you were miserable. I feel very fortunate that my surgery went so well. I was ready to walk the halls before I could see straight. I have had no pain and no nausea from the surgery. I had worried that my surgery would be extra miserable because I started this journey at 460 pounds. I am down now to 419 and feeling amazing. The only problem I am having is eating. I really don't want to eat anything. I am just not hungry at all. It has been a chore to get my daily Protein in. After 1-2oz I just feel like there is no way I can do anymore. I really hope you start feeling better soon so that you to may get to experience the joy that I have from surgery.

I started at 287 lbs. I focused the first 6 weeks on drinking and healing. I started taking Calcium citrate, Vitamin D and a prenatal Vitamin daily once I was allowed to do so. Recently I stopped taking the Calcium as my nutritionist and I decided that I consume a fair amount of calcium naturally on a daily basis so the extra is just not necessary for me. As far as boosting the weight loss...Initially to get my Protein in I used the typical shakes, bought skim milk powder and unflavoured Protein Powder to add to things. But worry less about Protein for the first little while and more about getting in fluids because if you don't you'll find yourself dizzy, ditzy and the headaches are pretty unpleasant and will linger if you don't sip sip sip. lol I live in Canada so my access to some brands is more limited... I started out just walking on a daily basis and just increased the time and intensity week by week. Now, for me, walking is more of a nature thing as it doesn't bring my heart rate up enough to be effective the way I want it to be. But to start walking is a great way, just fill your ipod with music you love and that makes you feel good, and has an upbeat tempo to help keep you paced. Considering how early you are in this stage of your journey, right now worry less about the scale and more about healing and adjusting to your new diet.

A typical day for me includes:
    1. Trying as hard as I can to at least get in 10,000 steps a day. I don't get there every day but I have a Fit Bit that really helps me track how active I have been during the day. I need to get into more strength training but I have 2 little ones so time is rough, but I will only use that excuse for a little bit longer, we just moved so we are in the process of setting up our home gym again.
    2. Breakfast....Always 1-1.5 eggs scrambled with a little cheese sprinkled on top
    3. lunch - I bring a small wrap with Turkey and cheese - I can only get through half of it but bringing my own food has helped me control what is going in.
    4. dinner - We typically make chicken or something with ground beef in it, vegetable and a noodle of some kind, I am sure that I take in my chicken and vegetable ahead of any carbs...generally by the time I get in the first two I don't have any space left for carbs
    5. If I need a snack, I put a Cheese stick in my lunch bag, not a lot of calories and it really fills me up. Not a lot going in, trying to get in all of my Water, still taking my Vitamins and Calcium chews so that's great.
I hope this helps! it's not a great plan but I guess it's working for me down 106 as of today!! Woo hoo!!

Felt the same way. No one shared the recovery process. Almost made me regret the surgery. Tomorrow makes one week post-op. I'm getting better each day. I feel when I'm hungry. Don't feel a difference sometimes. But I know when my body don't like something. Tried pureed turkey sausage and the feeling of this trying to go down was painful.
