My daughter came home today and she told me I should try on some of her dresses from her college formal days. Never, ever, ever did I expect them to fit. I feel pretty good after I looked at these photos. Of course, I've got the whole "bat wings" going on, but I'm not going to stress over the details. Just wanted to share my joy of the moment!

    Greetings Mae7365,
I certainly don’t feel like a “virgin” RYGB individual. As you said in your post, “We’ve been there, done that”. We’ve gone from our VSG into a RYGB revision to tackle difficult health issues. Ever since the RYGB and hiatal hernia surgeries, I haven’t had any amount of GERD. My lower belly abdominal pains are gone. My erosive esophagitis is now healing. This amazing RYGB surgery has done wonders for tackling any medical conditions I had going into the RYGB revision surgery. I just figured out that I will be on full liquid diet for another 10 days. I bought on Amazon a good book on getting the most from the full liquid diet BEGINNERS GUIDE TO FULL LIQUID DIET FOR WEIGHT LOSS: BEGINNERS FRIENDLY GUIDE TO FULL LIQUID DIET FOR WEIGHT LOSS & HEALTHY LIFESTYLE . It’s a very good guide.

It has been 7 months, and 2 days since my WLS.
I finally hit my GOAL when weighing in this morning. I have never been this small in my adult life.
It is such a great feeling, knowing that everything I worked for up to this point has been worth it.
My ONLY regret is that I didn't do this 10 years ago.
I have lost 81 lbs., went from a size 20 jeans, now in a size 6, (I posted a few days ago that I was a size 8, but my new jeans were actually too big, and I had to get a size 6).
    I am sooooooo happy!!! 😄😄😄😄😄

As a recent sleeve to bypass patient - specifically to resolve the terrible GERD, Gastritis and Esophagitis caused by chronic acid reflux - I can so relate to your comments. I had acid reflux disease before I even had the sleeve, and my surgeon never told me that GERD could be a complication following sleeve surgery. In all fairness, I think that this has really only come to the surface over the past 5 years. Now surgeons, and GI doctors, seem to be more versed in GERD following sleeve surgery and more prone to advise patients to choose the bypass.
On a positive note, I've had ZERO acid reflux since my bypass surgery October 2020. I stopped taking any PPI, and my primary care doctor is thrilled. Long term use of PPI's can also lead to bone loss in women. Best decision I made was choosing the revision surgery.

mae7365 got a reaction from Paradigm Star in VSG to RYGB - after 5 years with VSG
    @Paradigm Star
I didn't feel much restriction immediately following RNY either. At least not like I did after VSG. But as time has gone by, it's not really restriction that I feel as much as just feeling full. And yes, I do feel hungry at time. I had a ZOOM meeting with my support group yesterday and the dietician even commented that revision surgery patients don't always feel like the "virgin" RNY patients - maybe because we've "been there, done that", we know what is going on and what to expect and there isn't that huge jump from a normal stomach to 1/4 stomach like we had with the VSG. So we went from 1/4 stomach to 1/8.....not as drastic of a change.
But I know I feel great and have a ton of energy at almost 5 months post op. I feel like I'm fully healed inside.
I'm glad you had the surgery. It should help, or eliminate, the gastric issues you were dealing with.......and you'll get to lose some weight in the process!!!

    Greetings Mae7365,
I’m am definitely glad that I didn’t allow the fear of the actual RYGB surgery or the fear of getting the dumping syndrome get the better of me. I went into the hospital very early on Monday, March 22. I am now three days post op. I am assuming that my own recovery will be similar to that of the VSG - but will be different for the RYGB because it’s a different surgery. Actually, for the VSG I had more vomiting than do I have had with the RYGB thus far. I’m hoping that processes with no vomiting.
In this phase of my recovery, I don’t see restriction because as I sip, sip, sip my Water, I can drink a lot. Not at the .same time I am not really hungry and I find that I am thirsty a lot.
I appreciate your advice about how your own RYGB recovery has progressed. We all have similar stories to tell - but each individual is unique.

mae7365 got a reaction from Creekimp13 in Calorie intake vs. calorie expenditure
I've spent the last two days outside landscaping my front yard. It's been pretty physical work - raking, shoveling etc. I felt great both days with lots of energy. I felt certain that I was drinking enough Water and eating enough calories.
Last night my fingers started cramping and were very painful. Today, I woke up feeling exhausted and I'm definitely taking the day off to rest. I dropped two pounds on the scale over the past two days. I checked my food log and I had eaten over 1200 calories and over 80 grams of Protein. Then I checked my exercise calorie expenditure and it was over 1100 calories.
So the moral of my story is BE CAREFUL. As I've lost weight, I've felt so much more energy and that's allowed me to be very active. Now I know how easy it is to overdo.

I ripped down my mom's 18 foot deck this past week, carried the pieces to the burn pile and dug up all the foundation anchors. I totally get overdoing it....my shoulders are ornery and I stepped in a dead possum that died under there, jumped back and fell on my butt and hurt myself. LOL
But on the other hand..."overdoing it" isn't a crime. It gives us a good metabolic shake up. As long as we're not causing actual injury...some good hard physical labor is just not a bad thing. Stengthens your bones, busts a ton of calories, and makes you feel like Xena Warrior Princess. Our muscles feel ALIVE! And freaking sore! LOL
Look at us, we're unstoppable! Feel the burn. It's ok to!
    Stay hydrated, folks:)
