Struggling - Banded 8-22-08, eating too much!!!
ajoneen commented on Patti703's blog entry in Blog 45412
I disagree that the band is not working until the first fill. You might not feel restriction until you have a fill or three but the band is in place and you will have problems if you over eat or under chew. Did your Dr/nutritionist give you a food plan? You need to stick with it. Your stomach is losing the swellig it had after the surgery so yes you do have less restriction. Protein is the key to feeling full longer. You have to get your protein in first at meals and get 60g or more a day. You are going through bandster hell. It is hell for a reason. cravings, scale jumps, maybe even a little depression. Just stick with it. Now is a good time to start your exercise program. Good luck on your journey. Amanda -
I had that fluttery feeling after surgery too. It did go away. As to the heartburn tell your Dr. You will probably need to take Pepcid or something.

Happy Birthday! (ReBirthday?) Way to go!!!!

Also when you have stressed the stomach around the band(over eating or BP's) it is always a good idea to go back to full liquids for at least 24 hour.
-
Everyone has stretched their stomach, banded or unbanded. It has that ability. But just because you can doesn't mean you should. Luckily it has the ability to shrink too. The 5 day pouch test is a good way to help you get control of what you are putting in your mouth. If you stick to it you will start to get the 'feeling' you need to know when you are satisfied at meals. That is what you are after NOT feeling full. If you are feeling full you eat too much. I would suggest keeping a food journal. Write EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. It keeps you accountable and makes you aware of exactly what and how much you are eating. It's a pain but how badly do you want to lose this weight? Good luck Amanda

AMEN Happy New Minute!! You always have a chance to start over. Go get um!!

Wow mscathyl you sound very hurt by what has happened. Im so sorry. You have been through quiet a bit with your BIL and it doesn't look like it will be ending soon. Your BIL is in a tough place too. Being very sick and trying to keep the peace between his past and present. My advice is to let this current thing with the pizza slide. Folks misspeak when in an emotional state. That goes for all sides. If you need to "pop your cork" come here and let off the steam first. I hope your BIL gets past this setback soon. I hope you don't let this be a setback for you. Keep strong.

Im in. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f114/weig...20/index3.html I posted my loss from my surgery date. My ticker is set from my consult date of 11/20/07. I lost quiet a bit in those first 3 months. That pre-op diet was a B*tch!! (maybe I should do it again??)
-
It just so happens to be my 6 month today!!!! So here goes. At surgery I was #254 Today....#223 Total lost #31 Im OK with that.
-
I think we should use the surgery day weight. Most of our tickers account for pre op losses.

Welcome Jo Ann Welcome Kathy:smile2: (please, when you write in all UPPER CASE it is like shouting :cool2:) Welcome Pauline. Who is your Dr? Are you banded? Welcome Nicolle:thumbup: Welcome to all the Newbies. I was banded by Dr Powers (partner of Dr Geiss) on March 4th. Im doing well with my band. No BPs. It is great that you found LBT. Look around and get all your questions answered. Hook up with a few folks and make BandBuddies. Good luck on your journey!!

I see my Dr on the 19th. I don't think I need another fill. Im not really hungry. I could eat portions that are too big but I try to restrain myself. Do I want to take the chance of a fill to achieve portion control and possibly run into tightness problems? My problem is the one I have always had. Food choice. Or drink choice if the case might be. Old habits. Eating because it's there. A little taste of this or that. I think my only saving grace right now it my activity level, which is rather good (but could always be better). Mainly because the weather is still nice. I fear winter.

Im still sitting at the(almost) halfway mark.Frustrating. I feel like I've lost my 'drive'. I was so gung-ho 6 months ago. I need to find some weight loss MoJo. It's time to go back and look at the 'fat' pictures.:blushing:

I think my band may have slipped. Im scared!

I sail. I have a band. I don't have any problems. Sounds like you got seasick and that irritated your pouch. You should talk to your Dr. or someone in the band field. My sister-in-law had her band slip then erode and she was still eating normal. Everyone is different. Good luck on your journey. -
I hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend. Im going to try to keep the celebrating to talking and not eating.
-
Yep you do. Thanks for being here on the boards.
