80's Trivia
Sorry NKOTB fans...I was a headbanger! I had a Tshirt the first year or so that the Simpsons were out that said "I HATE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK" and had a picture of Bart sticking out his tongue. I alternated that shirt with all of my Def Leppard shirts. Queensryche remains one of my favorite bands. I am a massive Hall and Oates fan. MASSIVE. Salem's Lot is one of my favorite movies. Fred Willard was in it! Our group needs to develop an 80's logo. =D

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I had tomato soup for the first time last week and it was wonderful. Now I am sick of it...LOL. I have been very good though. I have only had a bite of mashed potatoes, and I had a new potato today that was really small, and I chewed it until it was liquid. LOL. I see my dr Wed morning so I will be able to eat without feeling guilty then. I'll b two weeks post op on Wed and I haven't weighed yet. PS...Congrats to the new thirties bandsters!!!

80's Trivia
I'm still a Duranie! I love John Taylor. He is still hot after all these years. Does anyone remember Wham's album, Music From the Edge of Heaven? That is the album that has "Last Christmas" on it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that album. That was from 86 and one of my favorite years of music. There is a horrid song on there though called "Wham! Rap 86" on there. George Michael+Rap=NOT GOOD!

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I am still really bruised around the port area. I AM a big pizza fan, and I have almost broke down in tears watching pizza commercials. I was even dreaming that I was eating pizza! Are you on liquids only for two weeks? I know all of the doctors do different things.

I am so scared to fail...
I would be so happy for a bite of mashed potatoes or refried beans. =(

After surgery check in for Avengers!
I am ten days post-op and I want some real food. =( I am still on the liquid diet, and I have stuck with it. I move to soft foods on Wednesday after my post-op. I do okay until I see food commercials or see/smell people eating good food!

Post-op pain...I'm miserable
I am actually feeling a little better. I am taking Ultram for the pain. It just hurts when I first stand up. I am still bruised! I thought that would go away by now. I think it is just taking forever to heal, but I am in touch with my doctor for sure!

80's Trivia
What about Batdance??? LOL I actually love Prince, but I seriously could have been okay without Batdance.

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
Can you guys believe I have stuck to my diet...because I can't!! LOL! In the past couple of days I have come really close to trying to eat something other than broth, tomato soup, popsicles, or jello. I took a miniscule bite of a lemon pie my mother in law made...it was really only enough to get on the tip of my tongue. What has been really, really hard for me is seeing all of this great food on TV and knowing that I can't eat it right now. I am looking forward to pizza when I know I can have it. I know I can only have like two bites off the end, but that's okay. I can live with that!!!!

Post-op pain...I'm miserable
The pain level isn't changing from day to day. It is still hard to stand up and walking is painful. I really hope that this improves by the time I see the Dr. on Wednesday!

Post-op pain...I'm miserable
I can't go until Wednesday but I talked to the nurse. She said that pain at the port site is a common complaint. I don't have pain in any of the other incisions but that one.

80's Trivia
Remember the game 'MASH' where you played to see if you would live in a manson, apartment, shack, or house? LOL! What about Slam books? By the way...I totally had the fan bangs. My hair is as straight as a board, so I had to follow the following procedure: 1. Pull bangs straight up in the air using a brush 2. Spray half a can of Aqua Net onto the bangs while still holding the brush 3. Use hair dryer on bangs while still holding the brush 4. Release brush I also used the same procedure on the sides of my hair at the temples. So, if you were walking behind me, I looked like this: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/9914/frilledlizardwf6.jpg

80's Trivia
OMG...I used to collect jelly bracelets, and I loved those glitter ones...until the crappy seam busted and glitter got EVERYWHERE. What about charm bracelets/necklaces. Not like the sterling silver ones today, but the plastic ones that you could get all kinds of little charms for! My favorite charm was a toilet with the lid that opened and closed. :w00t:

I am so scared to fail...
I was banded on 4/16, and I have been very afraid of failing. It is very early after your operation to be weighing yourself. After the surgery you have bloating, swelling, and water retention, so that is going to account for some of the "weight." I have not weighed myself yet. I am STILL swollen from the surgery. DH says I have lost weight, and my face looks a little less puffy, but who knows, right? Hang in there. This is a wonderful place for support. Listen to your doctor and don't stress out. It's all gonna be ok. :rolleyes2:

80's Trivia
Am I late on this thread or WHAT? lol 32. You know all the words to Bon Jovi - SHOT THROUGH THE HEART. The actual title of that Bon Jovi song is "You Give Love a Bad Name." I love hair metal! Did anyone wear their Hypercolor T-shirt along with their pinned jeans and jelly shoes??? I DID!! lol My jelly shoes melted on the hot Texas asphalt. That was funny.

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
My doctor allowed me to have tomato soup, and it has helped me soooo much! I was so hungry. It only takes about half a cup to fill me up. =) I can start eating soft foods after my post-op appointment on Wednesday. =D

Post-op pain...I'm miserable
Hi everyone...I am eight days post-op now and still in a lot of pain in the port area. I tried to go back to work yesterday only to call in sick today. I have no sick time left so I HAVE to go back tomorrow. Did any of you have this type of severe pain at the port site, and if so, how long did it last? My doctor will not refill my Lortab...only Ultracet which doesn't help.

Food: Seeking Info On Food Do's & Don'ts After The Band
I am 6 days post op and on a totally liquid diet. I will not lie to you: I'm freaking starving. If I constantly eat sugar-free Jello and broth and supplement that with three Slim Fast drinks a day, it helps...but I have been dreaming of pizza. Literally dreaming of pizza. I would love even one bite of mashed potatoes or something, but my doctor says no. He says the progression is necessary to prevent slippage. So seven more days until a bite of mashed potatoes or some pintos and cheese at Taco Bell. (I'll prolly hurl after one bite...LOL)

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
There sure are a lot of Texans here!!

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I am not sure what is wrong with me...but I am so hungry! I think I went too long without "food" and let the pouch get too empty or something. My husband and son had garlic bread and salads...I almost cried it smelled so good. I started slamming a Slim Fast. It did the trick (and also made me nauseated) but I really, really wanted a bite of that garlic bread. =( I am glad that I am going back to work Wednesday. Literally every other commercial on TV is FOOD. I've never noticed it before. I napped earlier and dreamt about pizza...how pathetic, right? I told my hubby I was sad and he said that I should be happy because I will be losing weight. I think I am mourning food! :tongue_smilie:
-
Hello fellow thirtysomethings
Sounds like you are doing great! Pasta salad sounds so yummy right now! I can't even have soft foods until the 30th. I'll just pretend this Slim Fast is a pasta salad...LOL Great job on the walking, and good luck at your first day back at work!

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
It is also good to see ALL of the thirty somethings!!:rolleyes2:

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I don't know if this is because my band is new, but I feel a tightness in my chest area when I first sit up or while i am drinking something. It kind of feels like gas building up just before you burp (gross right!) but then it just goes away. Today is five days post op. I tried to talk to the doctor to see if I can have applesauce and no is the answer. They are very serious about liquids for two weeks!! PS...good to see all of the NTX 30 somethings!!:rolleyes2:

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I feel like a shell of the person that I was was. I feel like being overweight has taken years of my life from me. I just want to be able to walk up one flight of stairs without being totally out of breath. Most of all, I would like to be able to play with my kids without getting worn out after five minutes. I don't know who I am anymore, either.

Hi, fellow thirty-somethings =)
I am so glad to see everyone posting! I really look forward to making some friends here. I am in Arlington, TX. Lots of bandsters around here. :biggrin2: Well, today is four days post op. I am still really sore. I bruised really bad. I mean, I bruise easily anyway, but these bruises are enormous. I am supposed to be putting ice packs on them. I am having a lot of pain at the port site. I am still taking pain meds, although a lot less. I do feel a lot better today. I have been able to get around fine, it's just this bruising that is making things a little more challenging. Have any of ya'll noticed the amount of food commercials on TV? I have never really paid attention to them before. Now that I am on all liquids, all I SEE is food on TV! It's weird though, because I am not hungry when I see the Pizza Hut (my favorite) commercial, but when it is on my brain says, "PIZZA! EAT PIZZA!" I told my husband that I am starting to see that I was psychologically addicted to food. Those commericals are designed to get you to eat, even if you are not hungry! One could judge by the size of my hips and butt just how many times I have fallen for it.
