Yes, it's true. My collarbones have been missing for the better part of 15 years and now they are back and I find them, well...beautiful. It's funny how when you are heavy, you almost disassociate from your body. Your body is a thing wholly separate from your true self when it is heavy. I always felt like my heavy body had betrayed me and I had betrayed it.
But as I regain my old self, it's important to connect again. And part of that connection is finding little beautiful things about your body.
What do you now find beautiful about yourself?

nikeisha932 reacted to mnmlst in I am really pushing it.
    I have a 2 yo. who weighs 30 lbs.
I had help for the first 2 weeks and didn't lift her at all. After 2 weeks, I had to lift her some, just like you said. It's basically pretty avoidable, but sometimes you just have to pick them up. Doctor said after 2 weeks was ok but to MINIMIZE it. (emphasis his)
I did, I'm ok. After 3 weeks I was totally cleared for toddler lifting. Just keep it as minimal as possible and get help when you can. Hang in there, and check with your doctor to make sure (s)he's okay with it.
    Good luck.

nikeisha932 got a reaction from Kathy812 in Will I feel up to cooking Christmas dinner 9 days post op?
I agree with Kathy812. I'm 3 weeks out and I think I recovered pretty well, but 8 days out I was in no condition to host and cook a large dinner party. Lifting things and bending were the biggest issues. If there are things you can prep prior to surgery definitely do that and enlist help. You just had surgery, this is the time to be pampered a little!!
    Best of luck!!
