Hi, my name is Tami! I started looking into bariatric surgery almost 3 years ago, and just couldn't decide if that is what I wanted to do. So I decided to give it my all again and see where I could get... so after doing HCG and losing 30lbs in 30 days and then gaining it all back after crying over some cheese pizza... I decided to work with my Dr., he told me what exercises to do and what things I should be eating and how much. We did this for a good 9 months, I lost 32 lbs. Then it just all stopped... come to find out I had a cyst on my ovary the size of a grapefruit :( had to have that and the ovary removed. PCOS, which I have had since puberty has greatly contributed to my weight, and not in a nice way. I decided after I was doing all the right things and nothing was happening that I needed a drastic change. My Dr. suggested diet pills but that was a road I didn't want to go down, so I asked for a referal to a bariatric center. I had my first 2 appointments on June 6, 2014, where I was told I was a great candidate for the sleeve gastrectomy. After a whirlwind of appointments since then, and being approved in September 2014 by Insurance (medicaid) I had more hoops to jump through. I have sleep apnea but haven't been treated for it in years because I can't keep the mask on my face once I am asleep. So I had to get clearance from a Pulmonologist before I could move forward and get a date. That took almost 2 months, I was a very squeaky wheel! Needless to say, after many MANY calls and e-mails I got my date! November 17, 2014! I was even told by the program coordinator that if she ever needed a lawyer she would want me to be hers LOL (not a lawyer). I am a very persistant person when it comes to something I want/need. I encourage you to do the same! Don't wait around for someone else to get you your date, you stay involved and push for it! :) That brings us to the present, waiting for my date to come. <3
