  1. @@HopefulInVirginia - I cannot answer that particularly because I had a BMI over 40, plus other comorbidities. I do have BCBS Fed employees. Quick questions: Have you weighed in at a doctors office yet for an official weight? If not ask your doctors office what the requirement is for your height. I would wear heavy jeans, socks, jewelry and maybe an over shirt to help nudge the scale if needed. Are you 5'4"? I ask because most of us tend to bump up to the next inch and if you are actually 5'3" your BMI may be a bit higher. And unfortunately as we age we tend to shrink I was a little worried and was told they could have listed me at 5'7" because I am just under 5'8". You are also shorter as the day wears on and taller in the morning...
  2. @@KindaFamiliar - I am going to be asked WTF is so darn funny because of laughing me arse off here at work. YOU are responsible!!! YMCA - Young Mens Club of Australia?
  3. @@New Jersey Rambo - I just saw my doctor today for a 1 year follow-up and I was thinking about doing just what you mentioned, thanks for confirming my thoughts whether it would be worthwhile or not.
  4. @@SenetriaStartingOver - Hello young lady! Don't miss the forums in the age-related as well, you can read/post with other young people in their 20s going through this process as well. welcome to the family!
  5. @DMH82 I agree with everyone else that 27 is SUPER, but you cannot expect a person who starts out at 220 and needs to lose 80 pounds to lose 67 of it in 3 months, that is insane IMO. If you start weight is higher, had bypass, under 35 years of age or so, I might could see his reasoning. I lost around 20lbs in the first month. My doctor hinted at a larger loss at the next visit - 3 months later. When I went back 3 months later I was looking for a fight because I had ONLY lost 38lbs. He (doctor) came in the door and was telling me I was doing great and to keep it up, wtf? So I called him out about his statement 3 months earlier. He admitted that he knew by challenging me that I would push to make the 40. So I have his 'number' now. I actually saw him today and even though I am not where I think he would like me to be, he never said a word, except, "WOW!"
  6. @@rebcal - if you go past the full spot, YOU will know it, its miserable.
  7. I pay more attention to the sugars (try to get less than 10grams) and protein (try to get at least 10grams).
  8. @@rebcal - I only hiccupped when I was "full" and only 1 hiccup.
  9. @@lat72 - your surgery is next Tuesday. I would get in touch with your nutritionist and get a plan. No salt, Water, move, no carbs, sugars, move some more, water, Protein first and write down everything. You have to start looking at food as 'fuel' for your body. I would still call my NUT TODAY! You got this! keep us posted:D
  10. @@lat72 - depends on your doctor and maybe your insurance requirements. If you don't mind me asking how long did you have to lose it, as in pre-op? What were the reasons why you didn't? Pre-op there maybe a very big reason why he wanted you to eat a particular diet, and maybe lose 5lbs, that is why I am asking. jane
  11. @@ncw0813 - KF and ISG are right and totally correct.
  12. @@crystalloveball - thanks for sharing. I am so sorry you had to go to the ER but your message about the post-op being essential needs to be shared so others understand WHY they are on it and take note. How are you doing now?
  13. @@lat72 - where are you in the process? I am 1yr 4 days post... It is SOOOO worth it
  14. @@DavidOso - I ordered a grilled chicken breast salad at Fridays. I asked that I ONLY get a handful, at the most, of the assorted lettuce w/no croutons, and that the rest be laid out separately. The rest was the Protein filled goodies: eggs, cheese, avocado, chicken. It all arrived on one plate but I still got the BIG pile of lettuce I hate to waste food and that's why I have backed off ordering salads at restaurants. To avoid "the look" I usually dissect my food and load into my to-go box that I get after my food is delivered.
  15. I wasn't required to lose a specific amount of weight obviously it depends on the doctor and their plans. I still had to do a pre-op type diet and 24hrs before was Clear liquids until 6pm. The pre-op is NOT easy but it is done for a reason. IMHO - the doctors have been educated and skilled in their professions. If they tell you something you should do it, for a safe surgery and hopefully an easy recovery. Get back on track NOW and stay true~
  16. @@Pillar2butterfly - I just had that moment about two hours ago with a pic I sent to another BP person. I KNEW it was me, but wow I remember feeling bloated & extremely uncomfortable posing for that pic. I still don't like posing for pics but at least I may recognize myself
  17. @@BIGBRAND0105 _ have BCBS fed employees and they did answer relatively quickly! keeping my fingers crossed that you are 'good to go' soon!
  18. I can relate to so many posts form everyone: waking up after surgery ( I was nervous) fitting in the seats in a plane wearing my small clothes/getting rid of the bigger clothes I think my best feeling is being able to get on the floor with 20m/o grandson and play and get up without having to call 911 LOVE IT!
  19. @@Lisa_85 - I agree with the others response and like Jamie mentioned ^ you can always move the drinks off the table once you start eating. I order water to keep from explaining and I sip it until the food arrives.
  20. @@Brenda Sherwood - try to get back on track with atleast eating better and find out why you were denied. We are here. Vent.
  21. @@KindaFamiliar - what would we do without our mate???? I wouldn't want to find out Ah "family"~~~loving/arguing ... bonded by our experiences. Its all good...
  22. @@jenn1 - great decision to put the focus to something positive (Race for the Cure) instead of some HOA drama. You are better than them...scr3w em!
  23. @@Renkoss - its amazing how that one.....teeny....tiny...bite can make you feel like you have swallowed a rock.
