In on of our meetings we were told that if ur marriage is bad before weight loss surgery then it's gonna be bad after. But if its good then it's gonna continue to be good.

OMG!!!!! I just got the call from fidelis! This is sooooooo surreal to me! I seriously did NOT think I would get approved. It took me less than ONE month to complete all the requirements before my surgeons office would submit the paperwork, and I've only had this insurance since NOvember 1st. I thought for sure they would deny me and request more time or more health records, BUT NOPE!!!!!!!
    I can't even believe this!!!!!!

I hope that it will be less offensive than hearing I have, "Such a pretty face." I think intent is everything. I can't wait to find out!
    And you look beautiful.

Two years ago I wanted to do the gastric bypass and my surgery was cancelled because I was going to a cardiac arrest. Devasted and depressed I never went back to that surgeon. The cardiologist and phych doctor advised me not to do the surgery. None of them could explain to me what had happened in that OR room. I found a trusted surgeon else where and he was very attentive to my needs. He listened to my horrible story and we sat together and discussed all the procedures. He said the gastric sleeve is good for me because my diabetes wasn't out of control. Then he explained to me why the others wouldn't be good for me. Overall he was the best surgeon for me. I thank him so much! The key is to find a good doctor. I wish you the best in making the right decisions towards your health. Best wishes.

Everyone brings up really valid points. The answer is that there is no right or wrong answer. You have to do what you feel is best for you. Personally, I started out thinking I was going to get the lap-band. After attending the initial seminar I changed my mind to bypass, The key for me with RNY is the malabsorption and the suppressed cravings. This surgery has worked out really well for me so far ( almost 4 months post op -down 86 lbs. since surgery).
Whichever surgery you choose will be the right choice for you! Good luck!!

I've decided on the VSG with Dr. Ponce and Trish, tentatively planning surgery for 12/9 - financing is in place, gave notice at work - they want FMLA paperwork, even though I'm only taking off 3 days (in the middle of 2 days off). Passport application done today.
I'm so excited, and so nervous. People say I'm nuts for going down there by myself - but I have 4 kids; someone has to watch them!
My PCP isn't thrilled about the Mexico angle, but supports the VSG whole heartedly.
What am I overlooking in my excitement?

@pinkbunies. If you read the responses and other like threads you will see that it was NOT the surgery that causes the relationship to be lost. It was the underlying causes -- communication and lack thereof.
Relationships that had other undealt with issues, complacency in a relationship, having settled for some
I had surgery. My biggest coach /cheerleader/supporter and best friend is my husband of 21 years
He lost weight the old fashioned way and is keeping it off.
His high weight was 230 and today he's at 170. Took him 5 years. We ate, excercise and did everything the same. I gained 20 pounds in that period.
I am his biggest supporter and he is mine
