  1. A variation of pumpkin. sweet potato pies. I make a White bean pie. For the Crust 1 1⁄2 cups almond meal 1/4 cup refined coconut oil (unrefined will still have a slight coconut flavor. If you don't mind that use unrefined.) 1 tsp. Kosher salt Water as needed For the Filling 1 cup evaporated milk or milk substitute like non-dairy culinary cream 1 cup canned navy Beans, rinsed and drained 3/4 cup pure maple syrup 4 tbsp. coconut oil 1 1⁄2 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1⁄2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg 3 eggs 1 tbsp. vanilla extract Make the crust: Pulse flour, oil, and salt in a food processor into pea-size crumbles.I use half the oil initially. Check consistency and then add the rest as needed. If the dough appears dry, add water; pulse until dough forms. I think push the dough into a pie plate like you would if making a graham cracker crust. Make the filling: Heat oven to 350°. Purée cream, beans, syrup, coconut, flour, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and eggs in a blender until smooth. Pour filling over dough; bake until golden brown on top and filling is set, about 1 hour. Let pie cool completely before serving. If you want to be fancy, garnish with dark chocolate shavings.
  2. Pretty normal. My first 2 weeks I was eating about 400 calories. It's only temporary and besides, we have plenty of body fat to live off. This is also why it's important to stay on top of the Vitamins, supplements and fluids.
  3. I'm going to tell you something we were taught not to do as kids; play with your food! Start with the protein you like and then spin it. Try a new seasoning, check out recipes on Pinterest or Eggface. Try a new flavor combo. One year I tried a new veg every 3 months. I discovered celery root, namé and fiddle head ferns. Go to an ethnic market and try something new. Especially if it's a lose bin market where you pay by the pound. Buy a small amount and try it out. Try vegetarian food, try Italian, Mediterranean, Indian seasonings, etc....
  4. Stalls are common, true sleeve failure is rare. Often when people say their sleeved failed, they did not follow the program. These are the ones who ate around their sleeve, ate the wrong thing or gave into head hunger. You often see post from them along the lines of "I don't eat all my Protein.", "I cheated a little here and there.", "I don't get in all my fluids." The sleeve is a tool designed to make losing easier, but you are still responsible for putting in the work.
  5. The doctors have seen everything. They will like put you in a maternity pad. It doesn't hurt to call your doctor and ask them what you should do.
  6. Maybe because I started at such a high BMI but I was never hungry in between meals. In fact at first I was making myself eat or drink. Then I went through a period when I wasn't interested in food at all. I only weight monthly so I've never stepped on the scale and not shown a loss. The only significant change was in the beginning the weight loss went back and forth between big numbers and smaller numbers. 14mths out and I am pleased as punch with my sleeve.
  7. If you don't like the Protein shakes, try the clear Protein drinks like Isopure no carb or Syntrax nectar. YOU MUST GET IN YOUR PROTEIN. You need protein to heal and to lose. It may also be the reason why you are feeling fatigued. You can get unflavored protein and mix with mashed potatoes. Greek yogurt is packed with protein. Get creative, but do what you have to do to meet your protein and Fluid goals.
  8. LOL, Taste is subjective. When it comes to Protein drinks and shakes you have to try them for yourself. People RAVE about Premier Protein and I find them disgusting. Conversely, I like Isopure No Carb drinks and many people find them vile. Keep sampling until your find what you like.
  9. Maybe instead of 3 protein bars go for 2 bars and some veg? Like carrots/celery and hummus for a snack. Or if you are on the go the hummus to go packs. I know Sabra makes some and if you convenience store like Wawa and 7-11 sell their own versions. If you are doing really high level activity your body will burn the carbs.
  10. I've read opposing theories that say the chest straps are the most accurate and others that say that ones placed on the left wrist are good as well. I like the idea of a a wrist device because I would worry about the chest strap ones slipping. I am planning to upgrade to the Polar A360. I currently wear the Polar Loop because I was primarily doing water aerobics for fitness and none of the heart rate monitors I looked at work underwater.
  11. You're a bypass patient. Is it possible you are having some mild dumping? I would suggest any sleeve patients add some natural fiber to their diets. A tsp of flax powder, psyllium powder or even wheat germs can be blended to you Protein shakes and may alleviate the need for laxatives. I was adding spinach to my Protein drinks from the very start. I am regular as clockwork.
  12. I try to eat as cleanly as possible I use raw honey and occasionally real sugar. I recently picked up some monkfruit in the raw, but the ingredients on that are monkfruit and dextrose. I don't eat any diet foods at all. I mostly use the naked whey and add that to regular foods. The lone exception are the Isopure nocarbs drinks.
  13. No, weight loss is never linear or consistent. There will be stop, stalls and at times even small gains. Stick with your program, and make sure you meet your fluid & protein goals. If the scale makes you crazy, put it away for a bit.
  14. I've never been dizzy and I'm 14mths out.
  15. Dental issues can be serious. If you have an infected tooth your surgery may be postponed. Call and speak with your doctor ASAP to see if they can do something to prevent surgery being postponed.
  16. Stalling is normal, especially at lower BMI's. Have you had labs recently? I would get the dizziness check out. For now put the scale away.
  17. Are they allowing protien bars? Do they allow planned Snacks? You might be able to hit those goals with 2 snacks a day but I can't see how to do this without snacks or at least 1 shake a day. Do they consider powdered milk a supplement? (seriously another poster said their doc didn't allow supplements, but powdered milk was okay. That's splitting hairs to me, but whatev)
  18. I am vegetarian, most of my Protein comes from plant based sources and Beans. I eat plenty of fresh veg as well. In the all liquid stage I would add spinach to my Protein shakes. I'm 14mths out and eat raw veg nearly every day. I also do whole grains in small amounts. I avg 100 gms of protein each day but I try to eat a balanced diet.
  19. Have some fat. A hard boiled egg, a tbsp of nut butter, guacamole with some veg for dipping, 1 ounce of nuts, etc.... Plan an evening snack that fits into your eating plan. Look for good Protein and healthy fat. @@tdhaddox says she found a recipe on Pinterest for Parmesan wonton crackers. Leave some room on your daily menu for that evening snack. Try to balance out those carbs. I don't really run from carbs but I stay away from the processed carbs like white bread, crackers, white rice, etc....
  20. I understand. I was never a big chip eater so I don't really miss them.
  21. I drink plenty of water and it does not help. May for you not me. That's not my point. It's not water alone that does it, but water does help.
  22. It is normal to be nervous before any medical procedure or surgery. Losing sleep early on in the process is a little concerning. You don't want it to progress into full blown anxiety. Just be aware of it and if need be enlist the help of a therapist.
  23. I do cucumber slices with a splash of hot sauce & lime. Crunchy & spicy; my favorite things. A ½ cup is 4 or 5 calories and I get some veg in to stay regular.
  24. One of the reasons why I still log my food is to stay on track. I make it a point to hit fluid and protein goals every day. The one thing I have started doing is using the Isopure drinks. 40gms of protein in 20 ounce. I divide it into 3 parts and add it to my water bottles. I make it a point to get in 24 ounces morning, noon and night. I carry my water bottle everywhere and sip anytime I am not eating. That also makes it easier to get the rest of my protein from food. All I have to do is make good food choices and I easily hit my goals. It sounds like you have a plan, just stick to it.
  25. Water is key. I am very regular, anywhere from 1 -3 times a day. I find that on the days when I get plenty of fiber and water I tend to go more.
