  1. I see this post a lot with people who are having second thoughts. Be honest with yourself. If you could have done this before why haven't you? As a happily sleeved person I can only say, "yes you should have the surgery." However ultimately the choice is yours. Be honest with yourself and try not to use this pre-op diet as an excuse to back out.
  2. Interesting. So they're basically re-tightening the sleeve? I hope I don't need to do that. My plan is to maintain a healthy routine of healthy eating and exercise.
  3. Try doing a search on liquid diets.
  4. What aches and pains are you having?
  5. Why did you stop drinking almond milk? I also second the need to get that hemorrhoid checked. Trust me doctors have seen EVERYTHING! Go get that checked ASAP.
  6. That's a lot of carbs and a lot of sodium you're eating every day. Personally I find highly processed food particularly binding. Try adding some green leafy veg alongside your protein and increase your water intake. As for constipation aides any of the following may help; prunes, prune juice, colace, benefiber, milk of magnesia, miralax, psyllium powder, flax powder, and smooth move tea to name just a few.
  7. Did you try any new foods? If this really did just come out of the blue, you probably should call your doctor.
  8. In addition to what everyone else has said this is why we are encouraged to thoroughly chew our food until it dissolves. We can no longer drink to wash everything down so we need to chew our food really, really well.
  9. So are you actually having problems or just imagining them? Why are you feeling frustrated and discouraged? If you are just having panic attacks you may need to call your doctor and get something for anxiety.
  10. There isn't any magic trick. You just have to do it. Accept that you made poor food choices and move on. Next time prepare for holiday/birthday/special occasion. Eat a small Protein rich meal beforehand. Carry a bottle of Water with your and drink every time you feel tempted to overindulge. In short, plan for ways to negotiate that special event. Include a small piece of cake or some small indulgence.
  11. Some people have them. It's not very common but also not that unusual. Your doctor can prescribe something for it.
  12. It's scar tissue. Nothing to worry about unless it becomes hot to the touch and/or extremely painful.
  13. I have an iPhone but I'm going to assume it's pretty much the same for most mobiles. in the upper left corner are 3 lines, click on that and the the menu comes up. Search is 7th from the top. Click that and type in what you want to search for.
  14. @@GenaW828 - Look at the ingredients on that light sour cream and compare it to say FAGE 0% greek yogurt which can be used in place of sour cream. Fage has 2 ingredients milk and active cultures and is lower in carbs than traditional sour cream. With FAGE I get also get a bit of Protein which balances out the carbs for me. With the "Light sour cream" you get milk, active cultures and a bunch of fillers. This can vary but is usually some combination of carrageenan, guar gum, xantham gum, modified food starch, or artificial coloring to name just a few. I'd rather eat less of the real stuff than a science project.
  15. Carafate is an antacid. I was prescribed omeprazole. Actigall is for the treatment or prevention of gallstones. The only other prescriptions I was sent home with was colace which is stool softener and something for pain. I can't remember exactly what was prescribed. I didn't have any pain so I never got the script filled.
  16. @@harley_quinn25 - Do a search on emblem health. There was a post last week about this exact same thing,
  17. I've been fine since I increased my omeprazole from 20 mg to 40. My doctor says it should balance out eventually but currently I just make sure to stay ahead of it. I figured out what time of day it usually hits and take my meds accordingly. I was having the most trouble in the evenings so I take my pill around 2 -3 ish. As for constipation, I think eating whole foods can help that. Pre-op I was super regular. I went 2 -3 times a day. Now I go at least once a day, sometimes more. Once I got past the all liquid phase I started incorporating fresh veg and high fiber foods back into my diet.
  18. @Smye- Try compression shirts, spanx for men and I think body magic has a male t shirt as well.
  19. Not a nurse. IMO you need a specialist used to treating chronic recurrent infections. I don't know if that would be an infectious disease doctor or an allergist. You may be okay now that the abscess is healed but if not you should request your doctor call in a specialist.
  20. Try Orgain organics premixed high Protein or their Protein powder. I actually used CVS whey protein and mixed it with Almond Breeze almond milk and Fage 0% greek yogurt. I tried premiere protein and found it much too sweet. It may be too much sugar giving you digestive issues.
  21. They do contain caffeine. It doesn't sound like very much. You can decide for yourself. If your nutritionist is advising against caffeine, I'm sure they won't recommend it. From Starbucks website:
  22. That's why you have to know your facts and know what's right for you. Don't worry about what others are doing. I agree with @@Kindle and @@fawnb71 - Make your nutritionist work with you. I walked in informing them that I was vegetarian and that I didn't do fake sugars. Once they saw I was serious it was no longer an issue.
  23. @@Pac-woman - I had a bit of an advantge. I was a Certified Child Life Specialist. My job was to explain medical procedures to children and families. I did pre-surgical tours and medical play. I was familiar with most of what would happen because it was my job.
  24. They didn't use the leg thingy's on me. I think because I had the IVC filter. I had to drag the IV pole with me but I could get up and down without assistance. The spirometer is not out of the ordinary. I had that as well. I just had to do it a few times a day. When I came home I started every morning by sitting up straight and taking a few deep breaths. It keeps congestion from building up in your lungs.
  25. Sounds like you have the right attitude for a successful surgery. Keep it up!
