  1. I know  I don't post often. Year 2 is where the real work comes in. I've gain, 20. lost 15/ Had a cancer scare and am now dealing with the flu. Overall I'm doing well, just taking these few hiccups as they come.  The challenge is rebounding and getting back to the gym after each hiccup. It just doesn't leave much online time.

Nice to see you posting here again. You have done amazingly well and we all have setbacks at times... that's the reality of all of this. Now here's to looking to a good future. You CAN do it !!!!

Hi, i am 3 years out now , I began at 287 , after the sleeve I got down to 165. Now 3 years + I am at 181 and going nuts! I can't seem to stop snacking and noticed my meals are getting just a little more bigger... any advice from you or anyone reading this.

Good to see you again BLERDgirl! IGlad to hear you are sticking with the gym.

The real work does indeed start later. I'm at 18 months now and really have to work at not overeating and snacking... all the old habits have been lying in wait!

  2. Just a quick drive by. The second year has been much harder mentally than my first year. I've bounced between +/- 5 10 lbs of my current weight, in large part due to stress. Not an excuse, just a fact. Dealig with a new & hopefully minor health issue at the moment. i'm just focusing on surviving 2016., and moving on to 2017.

Thanks for checking in. My second year has been hard as well. Rebooted yesterday. Gonna try to make this worth it! Still over 200 lbs down, just have had a bit of a setback. I won't use the word stall. I think 10 months without losing because I've let my lifestyle out of control does not equal a stall! This is all on me! Hoping to ring in my 2nd anniversary right! (12/17!)

  3. I have crazy addictions! Some eat when bored, I shop. Pre WLS I would go shopping when bored. I loved buying pretty clothes, shoes and makeup. Since I'm still losing I'm not buying clothes, but I still buy makeup. I'm currently going through another indie brand phase. I just bought 5 tubes of lipstick! I need a 12 step for beauty addiction.

@her1981- I'm a particular about my cosmetics. I like ELF cosmetics as a money saver. I don't buy nearly as much makeup as I used to, but every so often I splurge.

      FinallyFit50s

I was never really one for makeup except for the serious night out. Now-a-days I will wear a little lipstick once a week or so because I'm so pale right now with winter. Things might change as I am going to color my hair today...big change. We shall see.

  4. Going to switch up my eating a bit. I'm not going to worry about hitting 100 gms of protein. I want to see what eating between 75 -100gms will do.

My surgeon's office wants us to aim for 90-100. I honestly lose better when my protein is in that range. I also do a lot of exercise and lift.

  5. Just realized that having hot coco in the evenings is a bit of a trigger for me. Guess I'll stick with herbal tea.

I hope tat doesn't happen with me. It is the one satisfying thing for me and helps me unwind at the end of the day. I tried tea and it wasn't doing it for me. This tea doesn't have sugar, and it has a nice chai taste, it can be a satisfying evening drink, black with no sweetener http://www.nowfoods.com/Slender-Chai-Tea-24-Tea-Bags.htm.

I know what you mean. For me it's also a trigger. It tastes great, but, inside my head, I feel like Roy Rogers' horse.........Haven't seen you around in a while. Glad to do so now.

      BLERDgirl

I'm good with peppermint tea, it's just hot coco. It was a nice, soothing evening drink but an hour later I wanted to eat! Tried peppermint tea and I was fine It's weird what triggers one person but not another.

  6. Today's NSV - work up this morning and just wanted to stay in the bed. It's damp and rainy, I wanted to snuggle under the covers. However this is a big gym day. 9 am aquafit, then 11 am silver sneakers. So I got up & made both classes. By 1 pm as I was running errands I realized how good I felt and I was really happy I got my self up and went. Some days you just have to push through your natural inclination. Otherwise you never change old habits.

Earlier I threw up. It was a good 3 hours after eating and mostly mucus. I haven't thrown up at all since being sleeved. Kind of reminded me of bad food reactions I used to have before I was sleeved.

The daith piercing is supposed to help with headaches. It's the one sort of inside the ear.

  11. Having a blast shopping my closet. I was having a bit of a panic about not being able to shop this year. Once I realized it makes no sense to buy clothes I won't get to wear again, I went into the closet and got creative. Discovered shoes and a dress I literally haven't worn in years.

I hear ya! I had put all my hope to fit again clothes in the back of my son's closet. I've now cleared through that hopeful pile 100%. Even had to toss a few things that were painfully out of style.

  12. Feeling stressed lately. I know the reasons why (many). The difference is I am not giving in to comfort foods. I have made plans to better cope instead. So right now I am planning to stop in to a few support groups and change my workout routine. The next person who even *thinks* this is the easy way out will get punched soundly in the face. I am working my butt off for this.

Both meals were sooo good! I found these organic precook steel cut oats by Pacific. Not a bunch of junky ingredients. I hate cooking steel cut oats at home because they take so long. These were delish! Then I bought this kale salad because I was out with my sibling and they ordered a meatball sub from Wawa. I added an egg and a bit of cheese for more protein. Again delish. Just didn't occur to me the combined effect of the 2. Let's just say I felt "cleansed" after that.

    4. lauraellen80

      lauraellen80

Sometimes I put steel-cut oats in a little crock-pot overnight on low. They are perfectly cooked in the morning!

  14. Note to self: Do not have steel cute oats for breakfast and a kale salad in the same day.

  15. Today was the first time I could see the difference in my face without comparing it to old pictures. It's nice to not have to work so hard to create cheekbones & contours with makeup because you can actually see your real cheekbones.

I had to look up "forbidden rice"--wasn't sure if it was a variety of rice, or you were just calling it that because so many WLS patients don't eat rice! :)

    4. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

Yeah, it was going to be my treat since it's one of the few rices that actually has a nice bit of protein. Unfortunately I seem to be out : -( Shame because I really love it. It has a really nice nutty flavor. I may add some re quinoa instead.

That's the one I have a pituitary adenoma. Symptom are giantism and weight gain and elevated prolactin levels. They didn't mention the prolactin on the show though. I've had counted MRI's to monitor it. They also tried meds twice to shrink it. Now they just watch & check growth with blood test and MRI's. As long as it's not growing we aren't going to surgery since that can be pretty gnarly. I didn't get the giantism, only the weight gain.

    3. Daisee68

      Daisee68

Oh wow. I wondered if that is what it was. I am glad they monitor it closely. That sounds scary.

    4. BLERDgirl

      BLERDgirl

At first it was. Your pituitary is crazy small. About the size of a lima bean. My tumor is about the size of a small pea. Meds made me sick and didn't really shrink it so as long as I'm asymptomatic we just watch it. I've had it since 2002 and I've probably had 30 head MRI's since. They also monitor my vision because if it grows it can press on your optic nerve and cause blindness.
