amponder got a reaction from Debbieduck4 in Why Did You Choose Your Specific Type of Weight Loss Surgery?
I chose the band, because it seemed to be the best option for me personally, I did look at the other procedures and I decided that if something does happen to the band I can go with the sleeve later but let's try not cutting my stomach 1st. I am fully supportive though of anyone's weight loss choice.

Walked 3 miles today, have had chicken, a small turkey salad, and some carrots and cream cheese (not all at once over the course of the day), also have had 80oz of Water, and on my walk today I found 10 dollars whoop whoop,

amponder got a reaction from changingme5 in Serious Question. How is WLS the "wrong way"?
I think some of it comes from seeing it as the easy way, and I think some people see us finally having success and get jealous, all of a sudden my Mother in Law, and a friend of mine seem to be in competition with me to prove they can do it without it, more power to them! My Mother in Law is not nearly as heavy as me, but when she stops her diets she does exactly what I used to do, she says her diet is done, and goes back to her old eating ways, my other friend is fairly heavy just much taller and does the same thing. What's the definition of insanity again? I think that if your morbidly obese and you have been a majority of your life, then surgery is a wonderful option. I was watching Biggest Loser last night and one of the Drs was praising a man for losing the weight and dissed WLS while he was talking to him, how many of those contestants gain their weight back? I know you were wanting feedback perhaps from people who were against the surgery but this is just my opinion.

amponder got a reaction from Lolo~t in To the Newly Banded and those thinking of having the surgery
I just wanted to put this out there, I see posts alot, of people like me that have been banded a few months frustrated cause they've not lost the weight they think they should have lost, and I wanted to make sure when you come on here not to compare yourself to others by looking at their weight loss ticker. I have been banded since Nov 21 I have lost a total of 25lbs since being banded my ticker shows over 100lb lost, I count the weight I've lost since starting my Dr. supervised diet in May of 2014. The reason I feel the need to put that out there is I don't want to mislead or frustrate anyone. Lapband can be slow at 1st but once you hit that sweet spot it should speed up. Good luck everyone.

amponder got a reaction from Wvcari in Coping with a loss
Feel free to move this post where it's supposed to go, Yesterday my Dad suffered a massive heart attack and died he would have been 62 next month. He was not obese, in fact he was strong, ate healthy and wore a 30 pant size, I looked, I looked at the discarded pants laying by the couch, he was always tiny. Why does this matter? I don't know, I don't know anything anymore. He was so proud I was losing weight, he was going to take me shopping. I just miss my Dad, I am the only child everyone is asking me all these questions, where when how what, I'm 38 but I don't feel old enough to do this.

@JustWatchMe @Julie norton @B-52 @KateP @@gail10 Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement, I calle my Doctor because I went a long time without eating and when I did eat I got dizzy, I didn't know if it was stress or band, he said to drink more, and DO NOT stress and worry about calorie intake right now to just get through this and take care of myself. amponder got a reaction from ilikecake2much in Can I get a hug and maybe some guidance?
HUGS unfortunately us short people and I am 4'10 just can't handle a lot of weight I was 321 with a BMI of 67. Your struggles with losing but gaining it back I can really relate to. My husband was ok with surgery, but won't change his eating habits or the type of food he keeps in the house, but so far I am doing well with my choice. Good luck, and if I had any advice at all what ever you decide, do it now rather hit 300+ pounds, I was almost disabled after I hit that weight.

amponder got a reaction from Lolo~t in Worried and upset
You gotta go back to a Dr., it is the only way you'll know if you've done something to your band. I know following the rules is hard I break them in weak moments, but it is not helping you and your friends meant well but telling you, you were too thin at a very healthy weight for you height didn't help either. Don't let people get in your head like that, my Mom keeps telling me 125 is too thin for me, I am 4'10 if anything it's slightly overweight. I hope you can dig deep and remind yourself why you did this in the 1st place, you are not too far gone, you did it once you can do it again. It's 60lbs don't wait til it's 100 start now high Protein even if you have to re visit the post op diet for a week or 2.

amponder reacted to Jerr_Bear in I generally mind my own business when I meet a very obese person
Nice little story there. Unfortunately, we are all slaves to our own choices. I definitely make no excuses for the bad choices I have made in the past. I guess I got to a certain point where I decided that I want to at least experience a life that was always just out of reach for me because of my weight before I die. But I wouldn't feel right imposing that on someone else, because at the end of the day, it's a very personal decision.

amponder reacted to CowgirlJane in I generally mind my own business when I meet a very obese person
I did however strike up a conversation with a man, probably mid to late 50s who is clearly disabled by obesity. He walks painfully with a cane, I would say he is headed toward a scooter soon.
Anyway, after we chatted for awhile I brought up that I used to weigh twice what I do now, I didn't get into the surgery or anything. He replied "at this point, I have decided that I just enjoy my food and drink too much and am not willing to change".
It hit me in a very positive way. I mean, this man is clearly intelligent, understands there are options and has made his choice. Of course what i know NOW but didn't know then is how much better life is when you aren't packing around the weight of an extra human - dang that is exhausting and demoralizing! Even so, I must acknowledge that the sacrifices are significant too.
Anyway, I share this tidbit as I know many of us want to become WLS evangelists but not everyone wants to be "saved". I pretty much feel that way about the religion peddlers that knock on my door too... so I get it.

Sending positive blessings to you amponder. It is heart wrenching to lose a close one❤️????????....maybe more so when we don't have our coping mechanism of food.
You will go on. There is no choice. And no, life is just not fair !It just hurts???? My counselor said "keep crying" which I found helpful...
Oddly enough,in the car is where my sadness was strong.
Please know we care and keep posting????

amponder reacted to B-52 in Coping with a loss
So sorry for your loss....
I'm 63 years old, had my heart attack when I was 58...but I was Obese and had fat oozing through my arteries...(cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.)
I lost my Father to a MI...he was not fat, and was in his 50's...then lost my Brother, sister and finally my mother.
So now I'm an orphan.
I belong to a Face Book group made up of my High School class....seeing and listening to some of these people....it's very sad what shape many are in.
I went through a surgical procedure to help "Fix" some of the issues with my heart....it was then my PCP recommended WLS...which I did....best decision I ever made, and I will NEVER look back!!!
When I feel reluctant to go to the gym, or get on that treadmill, you can see all I have to do is think on these things to get motivated....very motivated.
Again, sorry for you loss....
