    New York Area Fills

Hi Ilene 62, Don't know if my previous post went through. I'm very interested in a support grp in NYC. How can I get more information? Been banded since 11/07 Caryn

    New York Area Fills

I have had the lapband since 11/07 and am very interested in a support group. I don;t know how to make this a private email so don't want to give out my phone # or anything. Caryn
  6. What is first bite syndrome? If it is what it sounds like, I think I have it. My food gets stuck earlier in the day, by late afternoon I can eat most anything. BUT I am not eating junk, am writing down what I eat and am exercising. And at 55 years old, I'm slowly losing weight and healthier than I've been in years! Look, this is not easy. We like food that isn't good for us, we eat to numb our feelings, when we're bored sad andy alone etc....But even if you're starving, you don't have to eat pizza and potato chips. I wish I was losing quicker and that I was more restricted, or at least more consistently restricted. But this is a TOOL and we have to learn how to use it properly to help us reach our goals. Don't give up, but don't expect magic, either.

    Lapband Slippage

Hi, when you write about vomiting, are you talking about liquids or solids? I'm trying to figure out what is going on with me as I've been having a reough time keeping food down these past few days. I don't know if I've had a slippage or not. Also, what exactly is a PB? Thanks, caryn
  8. I am not happy with my doctors on the south shore of LI. Can anone recommend their doctors? Also looking for a support grp and nutritionist who knows about lap band surgery and weight loss process. Thanks. Caryn

    My Fill Misery

Jacqui, I appreciate what you wrote. Just had my 3rd fill and finally feeling some restriction, but not total. I tend towrd the liquid or mushy foods bercause I like them better, but you're right, a sandwich is a better choice, or a salad with protein, for that matter. Caryn

    Any Nymphs Feeling Restriction!

I had my 1st fill 3 days ago (3 cc's) and feel no restriction at all. Very disappointing! I was hoping for restriction to decrease portions--mine are way too big, also finding it hard not to drink and eat at the same meal. I don't have another fill appt for 8 weeks bc my MD is so busy, but if I still don't feel any restriction by the end of the week, I'm going to call and try to get something earlier. I could live with the 6 weeks between the procedure and fill #1, but this is getting ridicules--why have the band if it isn't working? Thanks for this thread, it's helpful to hear what others are going through. Caryn

    Hungry

Look, we're all food addicts, which is why we decided to get this surgery in the 1st place. I've been struggling like hell and each day is more difficult as I'm hungrier all the time and can eat whatever I want. My 1st fill is 1/11 and I can't wait. I found it much easier to lose (20 lbs so far) when on liquids. Adding solids not only has stopped the weight loss but also has greatly increased my food urges. So i'm trying the best I can, which is anything but perfect, and when I read how hard you are on yourselves, I try to be a little kinder to myself when I screw up, cause it doesnt make it any easier. cmeyer11

Bad Christmas Eve today - total PBs.

This is really helpful information. I'm getting banded on 1/11 and starting to get nervous (but also excited; lap band hell is hell!). Happy Holidays to all. cmeyer11
  14. Steph cn, I appreciate your reply. I have been trying hard to adhere to the doctor's food plan and find it, at times, very difficult. It is helpful to learn about--and be reminded of--the potential negative consequences of eating food prematurely. I will try to rmember this the next time I want to eat solid food. Caryn
  15. Charlygirl08, I'm in the same boat as you re: healing very quickly from the surgery. I find that I can eat pretty much whatever I want without any consequences (other than guilt!). I've had a couple of bad days but have mostly adhered to mushy foods minus the blending. Unfortunately, I'm getting hungrier as the days pass. And the holiday season is an additional handicap. Can't wait for my first fill on 1/11. Caryn
