    New York Area Fills

I have had the lapband since 11/07 and am very interested in a support group. I don;t know how to make this a private email so don't want to give out my phone # or anything. Caryn
  3. What is first bite syndrome? If it is what it sounds like, I think I have it. My food gets stuck earlier in the day, by late afternoon I can eat most anything. BUT I am not eating junk, am writing down what I eat and am exercising. And at 55 years old, I'm slowly losing weight and healthier than I've been in years! Look, this is not easy. We like food that isn't good for us, we eat to numb our feelings, when we're bored sad andy alone etc....But even if you're starving, you don't have to eat pizza and potato chips. I wish I was losing quicker and that I was more restricted, or at least more consistently restricted. But this is a TOOL and we have to learn how to use it properly to help us reach our goals. Don't give up, but don't expect magic, either.

    Lapband Slippage

Hi, when you write about vomiting, are you talking about liquids or solids? I'm trying to figure out what is going on with me as I've been having a reough time keeping food down these past few days. I don't know if I've had a slippage or not. Also, what exactly is a PB? Thanks, caryn
  5. I am not happy with my doctors on the south shore of LI. Can anone recommend their doctors? Also looking for a support grp and nutritionist who knows about lap band surgery and weight loss process. Thanks. Caryn

    My Fill Misery

Jacqui, I appreciate what you wrote. Just had my 3rd fill and finally feeling some restriction, but not total. I tend towrd the liquid or mushy foods bercause I like them better, but you're right, a sandwich is a better choice, or a salad with protein, for that matter. Caryn

    Any Nymphs Feeling Restriction!

I had my 1st fill 3 days ago (3 cc's) and feel no restriction at all. Very disappointing! I was hoping for restriction to decrease portions--mine are way too big, also finding it hard not to drink and eat at the same meal. I don't have another fill appt for 8 weeks bc my MD is so busy, but if I still don't feel any restriction by the end of the week, I'm going to call and try to get something earlier. I could live with the 6 weeks between the procedure and fill #1, but this is getting ridicules--why have the band if it isn't working? Thanks for this thread, it's helpful to hear what others are going through. Caryn

    Hungry

Look, we're all food addicts, which is why we decided to get this surgery in the 1st place. I've been struggling like hell and each day is more difficult as I'm hungrier all the time and can eat whatever I want. My 1st fill is 1/11 and I can't wait. I found it much easier to lose (20 lbs so far) when on liquids. Adding solids not only has stopped the weight loss but also has greatly increased my food urges. So i'm trying the best I can, which is anything but perfect, and when I read how hard you are on yourselves, I try to be a little kinder to myself when I screw up, cause it doesnt make it any easier. cmeyer11

Bad Christmas Eve today - total PBs.

This is really helpful information. I'm getting banded on 1/11 and starting to get nervous (but also excited; lap band hell is hell!). Happy Holidays to all. cmeyer11
  11. Steph cn, I appreciate your reply. I have been trying hard to adhere to the doctor's food plan and find it, at times, very difficult. It is helpful to learn about--and be reminded of--the potential negative consequences of eating food prematurely. I will try to rmember this the next time I want to eat solid food. Caryn
  12. Charlygirl08, I'm in the same boat as you re: healing very quickly from the surgery. I find that I can eat pretty much whatever I want without any consequences (other than guilt!). I've had a couple of bad days but have mostly adhered to mushy foods minus the blending. Unfortunately, I'm getting hungrier as the days pass. And the holiday season is an additional handicap. Can't wait for my first fill on 1/11. Caryn

    Getting Stuck

In a way, I'm jealous. I was banded 11/29, have eaten chicken and cheese on 3 separates occasions, also find that I'm gulping liquids and having more than 1/2 cup at t time, and I've had no problems so far. It makes me wonder if my band is on right and why I feel no restriction. Any ideas? The good news is that I;ve lost 15 lbs since my surgery. caryn

    When to stop!!!

this was very helpful. However, I have a question that no one has been able to answer yet. I was banded 11/29 and am just finishing my 2nd week, with no restriction. I find that i am eating larger portions--8 oz at a time, for ex. Also, I began eating chicken. Am I damaging my band? I don't feel any discomfort when I do this, but worry that i may be causing problems for myself. Pls. help! Thanks, Caryn

    banded and no restrictions

this is a great thread. I was banded on 11/29 and lost 14 lbs the first week. But now I find that I can eat much more than 1/2 cup of food, drink my protein shake through a straw, and gulp liquid without any problem. Am I hurting my band or is it ok to eat like this until my fill date? cmeyer

    First 3 days post-op

I was banded on 11/29 and was not intoo much pain, but slept A LOT for 4-5 days after. As I begin to approach the 2 week mark psot surgery, I find that I can drink without any restriction--8 or more oz at a time. Is this ok? cmeyer11
  22. I've been lucky since getting banded on 11/29. Not hungry and losing weight. BUT--I'm drinking more than a half cup of liquid at a time: is this going to stretch my stomach or band or cause other problems? Or should i not be worrying about portions until my first fill? Thanks, cmeyer11
