If you're not getting all your liquids in yet, put yourself on some sort of drinking schedule so it doesn't happen. Drink an ounce every five minutes, for instance. You have to really work at this. It won't happen "naturally." The hunger hormone ghrelin that your old stomach is no longer producing all regulates your perception of thirst. No ghrelin, no thirsty. So you have to drink anyway.
If you can't sleep, take an Ambien or benadryl or something that will put help you zonk out. Your body needs the rest. And your body is still pretty freaked out by what it's been through and what it's going through.
Your body will suffer if you don't start getting in all your Protein pretty quick (60 grams at least).
Consider everything you're supposed to be eating and drinking right now medicine -- a prescription. You aren't expected to enjoy it or like it. You just have to DO it.
And the good news ... it's all going to get easier and easier very soon.

Mnmist: congratulations on finally being on the other side of the stress of waiting for the surgery. Keep us newbies posted on your progress. I am still waiting in the wings, (I admit to being a sleeve stalker). I'm relishing in everyone else's successes till I finally have my own. As they all say...walk...walk...walk...sip...sip...sip. You go girl!!

Full on freak out starting a few weeks preop. I had a final preop meeting with my surgeon about a week preop and told him I was determined, motivated, felt I had to do this to save my life but was having panic attacks and couldn't sleep. He gave me a short term anxiety prescription that got me through that final week.
I was most scared of the anesthesia. The morning of my surgery I met with the anesthesiologist and he promised me he wouldn't let me stop breathing. It helped alot and by the time I was in the OR being prepped he gave me a nod..like.."I gotcha" and I knew I was gonna make it.
    Best decision ever..now maintaining a 160# loss!!!!

I cried all the way to the hospital. I am a christian so I did a lot of praying and listened to christian music until they took me back for surgery. I am so happy I did this. Im 5 months out and down 75 lbs. I can tell you recovery was no where as near as bad as I thought it would be. I wish you the best on this journey.

Thanks for making the post op forum for we October folks. Good to read everyone's experiences. I am 15 days post op and started pureed foods yesterday. dinner didn't go well but I was able to eat half a scrambled egg with small amount of cheese for Breakfast. Thing is, I was full the rest of the day. Yesterday, was actually my first "bad" day since surgery. I started working again at home and doing chores. I was busy all day and so I couldn't just watch the clock and make sure I was drinking Water all day. Needless to say between the exercise I did in the morning and not drinking as much water I was very dehydrated and feeling it by 3:00pm. I got really frustrated because I felt trapped. I want my life back but it seems like I can't take care of my nutrition and work at the same time. Fortunately, I work at home. If I was in an office or something I have no idea what I would do. Every day we get to start over and so I have a good outlook today. I set an alarm on my phone to go off every 15 minutes just to remind me to drink. My stats: hw 272,sw 267,cw 249. Sleeved 10/13.
