  6. I find also that if I remind myself that I may not be hungry but thirsty and then drink a glass of ice water, that helps a lot. I'm still not doing as well as I should consistently, because emotional eating is probably what my downfall is right now. Another thing that a Dr. recommended, when you're feeling the desire to eat something - snack on Cocoa Puffs - they work pretty well at satisfying the chocolate, munchy desire. Plus, you can't it too much!
  7. I was banded April 17th. I'm still adjusting my eating habits and learning. I have a bigger sweet tooth than I thought I did. But, I'm trying to hang in there. Weight loss has been very gradual - I know I could do better. I've had two fills - at 2.4 right now. It's pretty tight -I can't eat much - just gotta handle mid-afternoon and evening temptations better! Congrats to all those who have lost so much already. :clap2:
  8. Banded by Robert McKeen in Provo, UT on Tuesday. We decided to keep this surgery quiet - so it's weird be recovering from surgery but also be acting normal enough so as not to raise suspicion of my kids. I just got over bronchitis, so they've been used to me resting and recovering, so it hasn't been as hard as I imagined to keep this a secret. This is day 3 - and I feel fairly decent. Things are still sore and tender and it hurts if I'm up and about too much. It's hard to figure out the right amount of activity for best recovery. I'm glad they're making me do some breathing exercises every couple of hours - I am tending not to breathe very deep because of the pain. Besides water, apple juice and broth, I've been watering (majorly) down some protein drinks and I think that has helped me stay stronger than had I not been drinking them. Yesterday, I had two of the protein drinks; today only one so far. I'm certainly tired and anxious to start feeling better (I want to get my flowers in!!!). I'm also curious as to how much weight I'll be able to lose and how quickly. I really want this to be the tool that makes me finally lose this weight

  10. I am very interested in doing a LapBand and impressed with what I've learned so far, but I've talked to several Dr's/Office's that say that they do not do them because of the complications (then they cite the possibilities of the band moving) and say they feel that the FDA will withdraw support. Yet I can't find anything on the web about people complaining about the LapBand or anything very negative in the least about it. So, what's up? Is it just that they closed their minds to the procedure after the first batch showed some problems (that seem to be resolved). I'd appreciate anyone's wisdom, thoughts and ideas.
