    Constipation

Magnesium supplement works for me. I am 5 months post op sleeve and was very constipated. My nutritionist said the high doses of calcium required after surgery is making me constipated and the magnesium will help ease this problem. Well, she was right, solved that problem! I take 1 capsule Magnesium every night before bedtime.

    protein shakes

I am 5 months post op sleeve and I drink ready-made Premier Protein shakes. Comes in chocolate and vanilla. 30 gm protein. They are smooth and goes down easy. No gassy problems either.
  3. Thanks for the comments everyone. I am on GNC 100%Whey Protein powder. 20 grams 8 oz serving. I am better today. Went to a family picnic, brought my shakes and sugar free jello. Kept busy playing with the grandkids and tried to drink a lot of water. I'm 57 and have been overweight for 30 years. Just getting nervous. Appreciate all the support. Dec. 15! Is my day.
  4. I am on 3-4 Protein shakes a day, plus Clear liquids. First 2 days wasn't too bad, then on day 3, I was very weak and nauseous, on day 4, I cheated and ate grilled fish. Today I ate a 1/2 piece grill chicken with a few pieces of steamed broccoli. I felt so much better after that. Will my surgery be cancelled because I ate solid food? I know the preop diet is to get rid of fat around the liver. I am getting very nervous. I almost have myself talked into NOT having it done. Start weight 227, goal weight 140. I have diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, family history of heart disease. Having sleeve done for health reasons.

    Dec. 15th anyone?

I'm scheduled for Dec. 15. Started my liquid protein diet yesterday, Dec 1. 4 protein shakes per day, clear liquids, jello, Popsicles, hot tea and broth. So far, I am hanging I there. Didn't think I could do this. Food commercials on TV are the worse. Cooking for the family is the next worse thing.
  6. @@yungshi, thanks for the information I really appreciate it. When I went to my doctor he told me because I had high blood pressure high cholesterol and diabetes and a BMI of 36 and above that I would qualify through Aetna. Hopefully my doctor in for me correctly. I already went to my first nutritional appointment my second one is November 4 and hopefully my last will be December 1. Keeping fingers crossed I need this weight off it's been 25 years
  7. Went to first nutrition appt. BMI 36.47 Anyone know about Aetna guidelines for gastric sleeve?
